This is my fifth year running the thread and every time it has gone from strength to strength which is a testament to you guys here at the forums. This year is unique as we are able to transfer the FM23 test files over to FM24 for direct comparison which adds a new exciting dynamic to the way we look at the results. Early testing on the Beta/early access has given the indication that this years edition of the game is faster than ever. For those of you who are new here is an outline of what the benchmarks aim to test- Benchmark 1 is a typical setup for most users and the other Benchmark 3 has all leagues loaded. The other two benchmarks are the same as 1 & 3 but with the detail level turned up to test those multi core CPUs. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Posting Results In order to get the most accurate / consistent result possible, I advise you to restart your PC / Laptop and then close everything that is unnecessary, leaving only FM open. If you run the game on a laptop, don't forget to plug it in the socket before you begin and also for laptop users make sure your system is in high power mode. (This does not apply to Mac as it runs the same whether plugged in or not) After you load the save, ensure that auto save interval is disabled, and also set speed to process other teams matches to Fast (Less Responsive), both can be found by using the search bar in Preferences. Below is the format in which I advise you to post your results, it's pretty much the same as previous years, don't worry if you aren't sure of the Base/Turbo frequencies of your processor as I can find this out for you as long as you know the CPU Model. To find out the specs of your PC open the spoiler below Spoiler You can download this program HERE once you've installed it the CPU tab will give you the type of CPU, it can be found under specification. don't worry about CPU speed I can work that out from the model number click on the "memory" tab and you will be presented with this The type and size are top left The speed is DRAM frequency. You need to double this figure. (DDR = Double Data Rate) So the above is 534 x 2 = 1068MHz Quick reminder again this year i'll again be asking for your Graphics level in 3D. What this means is what graphics level you set in the game to get a smooth experience. This should prove invaluable for the guys over at the New PC/Laptop recommendation thread so be sure to fill that in too Below are my results for you to follow as a template, space for the FM23 benchmarks are there for those who tested last year. SI Staff Popular Post Graeme Kelly Posted November 8, 2023 SI Staff Popular Post Share Posted November 8, 2023 Hi, Just wanted to say hello, and good work on these. I became aware of the performance thread for FM23 at the start of the year and followed it with interest. Last year I ended up with a 25 season career game in FM23 myself and we made a number of changes based on observations there and in the Benchmark 4 saved game from your thread, as well as other bits and pieces. Glad to see the early indications are that people are noticing the improvements so far .

Arijit
Thank you for doing this again. Type: Desktop Model: Mac Studio (1st Gen) CPU Model: M1 Max RAM: 32GB GPU: M1 Max 24 Core Apple Graphics Level in 3D: Recommended for System Benchmark 1 FM24: 00 min 40 Sec (It was 41 sec in FM23) Benchmark 2 FM24: 01 min 40 Sec (It was 1 min 41 sec in FM23) Benchmark 3 FM24: 03 min 32 Sec (It was 5 min 28 sec in FM23) Benchmark 4 FM24: 14 min 21 Sec (did not execute in FM23) Hopefully this helps prospective Mac users. It looks like I (and people like me) can definitely see more performance improvement for Setup 3 as it got huge 40% performance boost. For small setup, I guess it didn't get much performance bump. I typically settle for 80-120k players. I will definitely try 200k+ this year.
Arijit
I didn't notice one thing you have mentioned @Brother Ben. If I understand correctly, these test files were created in FM23 and then loaded & converted inside FM24, then uploaded here? If yes, are you planning to run fresh FM24 created setup as well? Some people may not had FM23, and FM24 is going to be their first FM, it may give them insight as well. Perhaps Setup 1 and 3 only for fresh FM24. Gee_Simpson
The faster times in Benchmark 3 is brilliant for me because I never use more than default detail for other leagues. The fact Benchmark 2 has little to no improvement doesn't bother me either because as I said, I never go full detail with other leagues. Arijit
I am happy to see that my M1 Max is processing the week in 3.5 mins in Benchmark 3 (all leagues, 20 in full detail). I am happy with that performance. I don't want to spend another $2000 for 10-20% time reduction. Money isn't the issue here but I don't want to spend for small spec/performance bump and make Apple richer.

Depends how much you're using the match engine. When not using it you're basically hitting typical max battery for the laptop being 15-20 hours. Last year I ended up with a 25 season career game in FM23 myself and we made a number of changes based on observations there and in the Benchmark 4 saved game from your thread, as well as other bits and pieces. Glad to see the early indications are that people are noticing the improvements so far . Awesome that si is following this thread now.

gooseta
Did a quick and dirty test on my desktop, definitely had a few% of cpu on background processes etc so will rerun On 08/11/2023 at 23:09, Brother Ben said: I did think about it but its a lot for people to do and in terms of collating the data it complicates things. And of course the chance to compare apples to apples was to good to turn down wouldn't mind trying to recreate the saves in fm24 natively and exporting them, i assume just copy the leagues, detail, and settings from 23 files, or is there anything else within the game setup i'd need to do to replicate it? I feel like 23 files on 24 definitely run noticeably slower than new saves but performance is def improved regardless Type: desktop Model: custom CPU Model: Ryzen 5 5600 (non x) using Precision Boost Overdrive CPU Base Frequency: 3.50 GHz CPU Turbo Frequency: 4.40 GHz stock, mine turbos to around 4.5Ghz RAM: 32GB RAM Clockspeed: 3600Mhz GPU: Nvidia RTX 3070 ti Graphics Level in 3D: very high Benchmark 1 FM24: 00 min 52 Sec Benchmark 2 FM24: 02 min 27 Sec Benchmark 3 FM24: 04 min 33 Sec Benchmark 4 FM24: 22 min 33 Sec will give this another run on a fresh restart + test out my m1 air too and add results The performance delta between 23 and 24 is really impressive tbh, didn't expect it to be so drastic and the last game i put heavy hours into was 21 & 22 and 24 feels incredibly responsive in the saves i've played (around 10 nations loaded with 25-30 ish leagues, and large database usually around 60-80k

I'm yet to start a save but will be within the next week. Have you managed to get a few seasons in to any of your saves? I'm wondering if there is a big slow down in processing speed after a few years? There was on FM 23. Edited November 17, 2023 by Gee_Simpson

I've got a liga mx save with a large database and canada, america, argentina, chile, colombia, brazil, peru, I don't run very high levels of detail level especially for international comps, and my player count is around 60k right now (when i started the save i loaded in some extra players in the region of central america), usually tend to go for that rather than cranking details. I'm in january 2027 and it takes about 35-45 seconds to holiday a week including a match, so performance is still right around the benchmark 1 setup although mine is lighter on the detail I'm only a year into another save i've been running but it has more leagues, i'm managing in ireland (2 leagues loaded) and have argentina, mexico (2), portugal (2), scotland (2), england down to league 2, italy (2), colombia (1), and france (2) loaded and it's super responsive so far (also has a lot higher detail level relatively) I don't have a huge need for many leagues but I'm probably going to try and run a database with something like 80k-100k players next and see how that goes.
