quick spreadsheet of results https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1n7svAeO0HjEwwQSIcaQiQUTLC4ZaZcKeHIp-5cQaRnM/edit?usp=sharing

Looks like there's a pretty significant jump in performance once you get to am5 and intel 12th gen desktop chips, would be interesting to see how mid-tier am5 chips (ryzen 5 7600, ryzen 7 7700, etc) perform vs am4.

Last year I used Benchmark 3 file and continue it for my own save. Always retired the default manager, and start the journey with my own manager.

There will be a spreadsheet when we get a few more tests.  I usually give it a month or so after release

apologies, just wanted to look at the big generational gaps, idk about anyone else but i've been considering  whether to upgrade to the best possible chip for am4 (5800x3d) or just upgrade my platform completely (currently on an r5 5600), or maybe upgrade to something like intel 12th gen

No need to apologise, your sheet will be handy.  I commented more to give people an idea of the timescale  :)

Thanks @jwchriste.  Very little difference between the two platforms at the top end then.

Price would be the only way to split these two really

I guess I should point out that these systems are both cooled with custom water loops and de-lidded CPUs for direct-die water cooling. I think that keeps the Ryzen system from throttling (it still reaches 85-90C at certain points, particularly during benchmark 4). It might have different results on a typical air or AIO cooling setup.

Hi everyone.
I'm currently in the process of building a new pc and FM is the game I play most.
Would the game benefit much from running on a Ryzen 7 5800X3D as opposed to running on a Ryzen 7 5800X?
The price difference is 135€ so if there isn't much of a difference on FM I'd rather get a better monitor.
Thank you and sorry if this isn't the right thread to ask this question.

Ps: Also, should I be considering the Unity stuff that's coming next year?

I just bought a 7600x and wandered how it performed in fm benchmarks, since nobody ever did benchmark4  for either fm23 and fm24 on a 7600x I thought I would share my result so other people have a general idea of how it performs in case they are deciding between this cpu or another to play fm.
Just note that since I dont have fm24 yet I had to do the fm23 benchmark.

Type: Custom

CPU Model: Ryzen 9 7600X

CPU Base Frequency: 4.7GHz

CPU Turbo Frequency: up to 5.3GHz ( eco mode on, that is 90W power limit; -15 all core undervolt )

RAM: 32GB

RAM Clockspeed: 6000Mhz

GPU: RX 6700 XT

Graphics Level in 3D: Very High

Benchmark 1 FM23: 00 min 38 sec

Benchmark 2 FM23: 01 min 41 sec

Benchmark 3 FM23: 04 min 59 sec

Benchmark 4 FM23: 16 min 45 sec

This result is about 4% faster than Peterdk's 3900x  result on the same benchmark. That same person's benchmark for fm24 was  14:27:00, so assuming the scaling is the same for the 7600x on fm24 it should again have a very similar result.

Based off of the FM23 results the difference between the R7 5800X, which I run, and the R7 5800X3D, the difference was not worth the extra cost, if FM is your main reason for the new PC build.  The X3D bit makes more sense if you were to be playing more graphically based games as it helps with an FPS boost rather than a data processing boost and if I recall correctly, the X3D is locked down so can't be OC while the standard X can be OC

The above 2 posts show how optimised FM24 really is! The 7800x3d now matches the direct die water cooled 7950x on benchmark 1, when the latter had a 7 second lead on FM23. It's also only 2 seconds off acidmonkey's 13900kf and 3 seconds off the direct die water cooled 13900kf on benchmark 1, when they both had up to an 8 second lead on FM23.

Looking forward to the rest of your benchmarks @LawzE

It would be great if you could run all benchmarks 1-4. That would give a complete picture of how these processors perform. The biggest gains from FM23 -> FM24 seem to have been in benchmark 3 from other data.

I could definitely do that, I just didn't do it since there had been 2 other people doing benchmarks 1 to 3 for fm23 on a 7600x and only benchmark 4 was missing.

Edit: Updated my previous post to have times for all 4 benchmarks, once I have fm24 I'll add those too

@Gee_Simpson @Abaddon879 Absolutely, here's the results. I ran the tests one by one after each other, maybe thats a reason the final test was longer than the M1 on @stevemc tests but managed to be 5 seconds quicker on Benchmark 3. Overall extremely happy with the results. It would suggest I should probably play with all leagues loaded as per Benchmark 3 for a game setup.
