Setup date

Good morning, I'm sorry I'm opening many threads lately but again I'm encountering troubles. Tbh, this time it is something more general than last post I did.

I don't even know if it is something I'm allowed to open a thread for, but I can't understand properly how Setup Date works. In particular, the thing I can't connect is: How do I make a competition start in a different year than 2022? For example, I'm trying to set up an Asian Super Cup between the winner of Asian CL and the Cup Winners Cup, which is a new competition starting in 2022.

For this reason, obviously, the Super Cup can't have the set up date in 2022, otherwise it won't find the winner team of the new competition, but for some reason, if i put the set up date on 2023, the competition does not update to the new season.

An advice pops up, telling me "the competitions have different years set". So i'm trying to figure out how to resolve, and understanding how to delay properly the start of a competition (for example, Conference League in older FMs) would be a massive help for me.

I thank in advance whoever will help me on this matter.

If you take a look at default comps to get an idea how it works, most have "base year for dates" set to 2000 (this is for scheduling, so that you can apply the same schedule to different years). Then under "requirements", this corresponds to the in-game year, so "year" can be 2023 and "year interval" can be 4 (if it's 4 years, say). Then it will run 2023, 2027, etc. In the competition rules, use 2000 for dates like setup date, fixture dates, etc (because that's the base year for dates), and that will apply each year it's run

Good morning, I'm sorry if I reply again to you, but I've been trying working around what you told me and still I'm having so much troubles because I can't make the competitions verify.

I'll leave here the file so whoever wants could see with his eyes what's wrong specifically with this file.

My main issue is still that when I setup Asian Cup Winners' Cup, in 2022, then Super Cup, as it is scheduled, should happen in November. Asian CWC ends up in september. The season update is on first of January.

So I don't understand if a team winning a Cup in september can participate to the Super Cup in november, and I don't understand this because when I setup the Super Cup (with setup date around 10 october, to make CWC end) it just says "no bro, I can't find a team for Super Cup"

Thanks for helping, I'm very desperate

The problem is you've got the Super Cup going through the qualifying system. It will qualify teams on the 1st Jan there (season update day). Try making your Super Cup in Other Cups instead, there you can set it up as a Super Cup and choose which competitions need to finish first, like this:

FYI the way you've got things set up now may cause issues with the default Asian competitions, not sure if your intent is to replace them with your own or what though. If you want to keep the existing competitions and qualifying system intact then the Nations and Teams sections should be completely blank and unused and your new competitions should all be under Other Cups instead.

Thank you for your reply.

Actually the CWC used to work in the file without causing massive troubles with Asian Champions League, the problem was the Super Cup that didn't work at all. I'll try to see if that causes troubles now that super cup will be placed in other cups.

BTW these are not my files but i'm just trying to correct them, they were made by footballhedgehog here

but many of these files aren't working so I decided to try making them actually work.
