[FM24] - Enough is enough, rebuilding Ireland

Introduction

Welcome to my latest save, a save dedicated to rebuilding Ireland. For this save, im using a database created by @ZahnZee (found here) so i can have the season being played over winter, allowing me to align with European competitions, rather then a summer based season with a winter break.

To quote him;

The Republic of Ireland is an under developed location for Football Manager saves. The League both benefits and suffers from it's
proximity to the English game; being an open training group with no foreign player restrictions; but also a siphon for all the young
talent off the Island and into English academies. It's not unusual for a Republic of Ireland squad to not contain a single player playing
their domestic football here. Ireland can be more, oh so much more

That quote is the inspiration behind the goals of the save - rebuild a solid rep at club and national level, stop easily losing players over seas and make Ireland competitive on the national and club level main stages!

Im starting off with no badges and no experience, my stats are shocking.

An Introduction to Wexford FC

 

I have decided to take over as First Division side, Wexford FC. I like thier kits, the fact they are relatively newly founded and dont have too much history about them.

I was also drawn by the supporters culture & expectations, something i can easily buy into.

The starting squads look good to me too, but with no transfer budget and a maxed out wage budget, we're going to have to do some wheeling and dealing.

Start of save Reputations and Co-Efficients

SSE Airtricity League Premier Division

Currently sits at rank 74th, just a place behind the English League Two - this shows the task at hand

SSE Airtricity League First Division

My current league - whilst im not planning on being here for too long, its rep will need to improve as the save progresses

Republic of Ireland

Currently 35th in the World on the Co-Efficient rankings. Northern Ireland just  8 places behind. 2024 will see an International tournament in the form of the European Championships, Ireland might be there...

Season Preview 2023/24

We are not fancied, not one bit, a relegation scrap is predicted

Transfer wise, as im playing in 'Real World' mode, all of these transfer were pre determined for me.

We will lose one key player, Conor Levingston, in July - hes off to Drogheda United and on a free too

Progress Update - October 2023

10 games in and we're progressing really nicely. I was disappointed to lose the cup game but we will foucs our attentions elewhere. The squad is a bit think, Irish clubs (due to the way i have the DB i think) have alot of contract expiring in November so we will look to bolster the ranks.
