Jimbokav1971
NxGn 2049. Good to see 2 players on this list who are still at the club rather than having been sold or sold and then loaned back in. (46d) Bentley (AUS)(F.Pro) * is only 18 so has 1 year left on this list. He's contracted for 4+3 years (45a) Pobořil (CZE) (Real) * has 4 years left on his contract, but now he's appeared on this list I'm going to negotiate a new contract right now, (he's just signed a 5+3 deal).

Jimbokav1971
Apr 2049. Scottish Premiership. Urgh! We're in awful form. Just 1 point from our last 3 games and we're in danger of missing out on Europe again. Scottish Cup. (The Big one). We're not in great form and this wasn't a surprise. There is still absolutely no reason for them to be relegated, (even with the 15 point deduction). They should have been well capable of staying up. They still top the Sponsorship Income table. Only Celtic sell more Season Tickets. Only Celtic & Hibs spend more on wages. Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen & ourselves, have all sold players for a similar value this season. They would still be bottom even without the points deduction.
Jimbokav1971
May 2049. Scottish Premiership. We left it late in the month, but thankfully our last game was a head to head against Hearts, (our rivals for 4th place). and by beating them we secured 4th place and European qualification. Hearts might still qualify for Europe themselves, (if Aberdeen beat St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup Final), but that didn't work out well for us last season so I'm delighted we don't have to go through it again. As well as Rangers getting relegated, their pain is heightened even more as Celtic are crowned league Champions for the 1st time in since 2029/30 (19 years). Internationals. Facilities. Best XI. Jimbokav1971
Can anyone remind me how to give instructions that the U18's and U21's use the same tactic as the Senior Team please? I just assumed I had set it, but I've just noticed it's not happening and I now can't work out how to do it. I know it's here somewhere but just can't find it. Jimbokav1971
Squad Depth. Jun 2049. This next season is going to be a little different because it will be our 1st European campaign. While I would love to think that we will progress deep into the Europa Conference League, it's also possible that we will be knocked out in the very early qualifying stages. I need to plan for a proper European campaign though. In terms of squad depth, that shouldn't actually change much from 1st Team & 2nd Team selections, but it does mean that we will probably require an extra body, (in case of injury), certainly at centre-half and striker, (unless suitable cover already exists in the U18's squad. The reason I have to give special consideration to DC and SC positions is simply because we have 3 of each in every starting XI, so these 2 positions make up 60% of outfield players each game. It's the 1st time I'm going to take any consideration at all as to who will be placed in the U21's squad. Until now I have just ignored it because I just didn't care. We may not have a full U21's squad, but where there are obvious players who fit the age/ability criteria then they will remain at the club rather than going out on loan. GK. 1st Team. Jimbokav1971
Aug 2049. Scottish Premiership. We should have beaten St Johnstone, but despite dominating the ball and the xG, we still couldn't take our chances. Against Motherwell we were unlucky not to hang on for a draw despite suffering a 54th min red card and an early goal ruled out. We absolutely battered Dundee, (and I really mean battered. The score should have been about 5-0), but only managed to convert 1 of 2 pens and that came back to bite us on the bum as we went and conceded a 100th min OG. (No, that's not a typo). The Dunfermline game was more of the same. We dominated but only scored 1 goal. They hardly had a kick but scored 1 goal from a 0.25 xG. We've only taken 3 points from our opening 4 games, but the 1st 3 games were played by the 2nd Team and we should have taken 9 and possibly 10 points from these games, so there is not much wrong with the performances. We just need to be better in both boxes. UEFA Europa League & Europe Conference League. There is no pretending otherwise. Getting knocked out of the Europa League was a disaster, and I don't have the vocabulary to describe my thoughts on us also getting knocked out of the Europa Conference. FC Groningen were really good in the 2nd leg, but they weren't 5-1 good, and in any case we should have won the 1st leg by about 4-1 so even then we should have qualified. The OB (Denmark) games were tight, and a fair result in both games would have been a draw. To lose both of them is particularly galling. It means that our 1st European campaign is over after just 6 games, but that's 6 games more than we had last season, (or ever before), and it's probably no surprise that our young squad struggled a little under the pressure. According to xG we deserved to progress through both ties, but the game isn't decided on xG and we just have to take the defeats on the chin and come back better next season. I suppose if anything, it shows just how far we still have to go in this save. We might have battled through to the Premiership, and then the top half of the Premiership, and then European qualification, but we're still a mile off, (even in the Europa Conference). League Cup. Jimbokav1971
Sep 2049. Scottish Premiership. We conceded an 89th min goal against Hibs that cost us a point and then a 1st half red card destroyed any chance we had of getting something out of the Kilmarnock game. Despite bossing the ball and the xG, we still needed an injury-time leveller to earn a point against Falkirk. We deserved more, but we almost came away with nothing. We're bottom of the table, but we're still actually playing ok and I'm sure if we can get 1 win then we will soon get 2 or 3 more. In any case, 1 win would move us up 2 places in the league, and we have 3 games in hand on 2 of the teams above us. It's not time to panic yet. League Cup. Nothing is going for us at the moment. Jimbokav1971
Dec 2049. Scottish Premiership. We've got 10 league games left before the split, and we're 2 points behind Hearts, (having played 1 game more). Possibly of more significance, we're 7 points behind Ross County, (but have 2 games in hand on them). I think that Hearts will finish above Ross County so it's really Ross County who we're competing against. At this stage I think we're well capable of finishing in 6th, but whether we can go further than that and secure a European spot is less of a certainty. Debuts. I've got to be honest here, I thought this was a friendly for some reason, so with 8 days before our next league game I picked the 1st Team and then rotated out 3 defenders who were all fatigued and replaced them just on condition. Jimbokav1971
Jan 2050. Scottish Premiership. It was gutting to lose wt home to Hearts, (because it might have a big impact on our chances of European competition), and even more so because we dominated the ball and the xG score, and that they managed to score 2 goals from an xG of 0.52 is really painful. I don't think it's right that a single relegation should immediately so significantly impact a team like it has done to Rangers. Don't get me wrong, (I'm loving it), but I don't think it's right. The game seems to put a lot of reputation 'stock' into the facilities of the club, we've all seen the conversation option arguing the improvement would increase rep. I'd assume that as part of the administration they had to downgrade or reduce these parts of the club (pretty sure you can still do this) which I would guess explains the larger-than-expected drop to their rep.

The downgrading of Youth Facilities and Training Facilities would have appeared here on the History Landmarks screen if it had happened, (although Junior Coaching and Youth Recruitment would not be shown here). Just for the record, this is what their facilities are like right now. While we're on the subject of Rangers though, they're not coming straight back up. They haven't won in 5 games in the league, (but only 2 of them were losses), and during this period they've won 3 Cup games so it could be they were prioritising that. They are out of the Cup now though. Losing 1-0 to Hibs in the Quarter-FInals.

During the last few years Rangers have been forced into playing their youngsters, but they have paid a huge price by not doing so throughout the save and as a result they have only sold Academy products for a combined total of approx £65M, (which averages out at £2.7M per season since 2027). When you consider that we have sold players to the value of £36M, (this doesn't include sell-on clauses), and we have spent most of the save in the lower leagues, the £65M for them seems paltry when you consider how ridiculously good their facilities are. I actually think that this could be the making of them if they can get it right. The circumstances are forcing them to rely on their Academy, which produces excellent players as shown above. I can't be bothered with mentoring. I hope that the overall higher Det levels in the squad will have a positive impact on those players with Low Det and I will also consider loaning out Low Det players so that their development can be boosted, but also so that their Low Det doesn't infect other players here. With (50b) Wilson (Unamb) 6'4", because he is so good and because we have struggled for so long at centre-half, I think it's likely that he will feature for us next season in the 2nd Team at least so I just hope the squad here influences him. When I look at the 1st Team squad selection, there are no players with single digit Det, 2 players with Det at 10 and then everyone else will be at 10-15 so I'm hopeful that his Det should be boosted without mentoring. I'm sure I will keep you updated.

Wow, what gets me is that most of these players didn't even get a chance as they only got few sub appearances and been release on a free or sold for peanuts. I guess the driver there was board expectations if they don't have "develop players using youth system" requirement at the beginning. In Game managers probably try to follow board requirements harshly and now when the club has no money they have to rely on youths. But I see a lot of potential and money wasted away.

I don't think it's about board expectations directly. I think it makes sense when you think about it though. They have been signing so many high profile players for so much money and paying such big wages, that it would be next to impossible for a youngster to get required playing time to develop sufficiently. I think that would make complete sense, but what doesn't make sense is paying all this money out for such good facilities, while not utilising them at all over such a long period of time. It's just wasteful. While the Tycoon was still there then it didn't matter, but obviously as soon as he started to scale back his funding it became a huge deal. Our Youth Setup cost £4.7M last season and we've already spent £4.4M on it this season, so for them to be paying that, (and more), but getting nothing, (or at least very little), in return, just seems silly. When I try to ass a new manager in charge at Rangers, this is what greets me, so even though they're being forced to use Youth players, the focus still isn't there to use the Academy. Until it is, I don't think they will fully be able to take advantage of the situation, because even talking about more modest sums, the strategy will always be to sign a player rather than give playing time to youngsters. If my previous post showed anything, it's that players just can't develop fully without being given playing opportunities.
Jimbokav1971
Mar 2050. Scottish Premiership. We were well-beaten in both away games so no complaints there. We trail Ross County, (and Hearts), but 3 points with just 2 games to play before the split, (Ross County & Celtic). Ross County play ourselves and bottom placed Dundee, so even if we beat them, (we will be 1 point ahead), they will finish ahead of us if they beat Dundee, (unless we somehow win away to Celtic which seems pretty unlikely to be honest). Hearts, (who I think are better than both ourselves & Ross County, play Motherwell & Kilmarnock, but they also play 2 Europe Conference League Quarter Finals, with the 1st leg being played between these games and the 2nd leg immediately after. It's not impossible that their focus on Europe might be enough to see them lose both these league games. Scottish Cup.(The Big One). Hibs & Aberdeen play in the other Semi-Final, so if we lose then the 5th European spot will go to the league. That's not impossible for us, but it's becoming increasingly unlikely. Internationals. I thought that we were much more likely to finish above Ross County, but with 2 games left before the split I think the only chance we have of making the cut is to finish above Hearts and absolutely our goal difference could prove pivotal in that respect. [Edit] It's good to be playing in a league which prioritises goal difference ahead of head-to-head again. Edited March 5 by Jimbokav1971
Thebaker
The loss of money from rangers is amazing in not developing youth players, even selling on most of the players with a PA over 100 for a nominal fee with a sell on would have surely generated millions over the years. They seem to have produced a lot of players who could play in the scottish premiership or english championship but not profited. Have you looked at the PA of the players you have produced just to compare it?

Jimbokav1971
Apr 2050. Scottish Premiership. We won both our games and the physical demands of Hearts playing European football midweek was too much for them to cope with as they made it 1 point from their last 4 league games. The Celtic game was a little lucky as we were helped by them getting a red card and they still probably deserved to win. It means that we've squeezed into the top half of the league for the 2nd time, and with Hearts missing out on the split it's basically between ourselves and Ross County for the 5th European spot, (that will got to the league unless we win the Cup). Hibs and Aberdeen are just better than us at the moment. We played well in both games, but it just wasn't enough. Scottish Cup. (The Big one). No, I don't want to spoil things by looking at the CA/PA of our existing players, and while there's still a chance that we could re-sign products of our Academy who have left, I don't really want to look at them either. I could look at CA/PA info on players once they left I suppose, but that would influence my efforts to re-sign them so I don't want to do that either. I could look at individual player CA/PA once they reached 30 or something, but not sure I can be bothered to be honest. Who cares what their CA/PA is? They have however made 3 signings, and 1 more in on loan. They are very modest signings though. Paying £14,500 per week for a loan player is still ridiculous though.
Jimbokav1971
May 2050. Scottish Premiership. Jimbokav1971
Rangers watch. Jun 2050. They finished mid-table in the Championship. A goal difference of -11 tells it's own story I think, but that was driven by them only scoring 39 league goals this season. They did ok in the Cups. They still have some very good players and there is no way they should still be in the Championship with these players. I would like to think I would immediately romp the Championship with this squad, (and would be tempted to try if it wasn't them). This bloke is getting paid £62k per week. It's a ridiculous that he couldn't be moved on last year. That's £3.2M on his wages alone. I would 100% have sold him. It doesn't really even matter how much you sell him for. Just get him gone and start again. £23,500 pw wages is still big for a teenager, but I can understand why he was kept. He looks really good and will surely provide a significant windfall when he is sold. They just have to be smart enough to ask for a reasonable initial fee, (can even be structured rather than up front), but make sure that they include all the add-ons. To put this in perspective, this bloke would 100% be our best WBR, but also would just be one of the best players at the club if we signed him. I'm not sure how they've got a -£7M transfer budget. They haven't spent a penny on anyone this season. They're comfortably under budget, but by way of a comparison, we're currently spending £72,139 per week and have just qualified for Europe for the 2nd successive season. There was a big loan put in place to get the club out of Administration and £525k monthly payments are going to be tough to deal with. They have some decent 5.0 PA players at the club, (some with good CA too), and it will be interesting to see how the develop these players over the coming season. They obviously no longer have a huge squad and for the main part they just had to make do with what they had. Only 1 single player is older than 21, and that's the centre-mid I said they should have sold last season. I still think that they should be romping the league even without him. It will be interesting to see what they do next season.

In the most recent intake there was a Tomaszewski, who is either the 3rd or the 4th to come through the Academy, but even with a name like that there has never been a family link shown. I did ask if anyone else had seen family links and the reply I got was that 1 person had, but they were unable to post pictures. I honestly think it's broken in the game because it's ridiculous that I haven't seen any when you consider that until recently all our players were coming from Alloa.
Rikulec
Great job securing European football. Also, what's happening to Rangers is absolutely mental. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this on my saves (maybe apart from Chelsea becoming a yo-yo club in the 2050s on FM16).
