R7LHJ
This save is built on the idea of a Build A Nation save, with inspiration mainly taken from @mpm2342 and YouTuber @SecondYellowCard. The premise of the save will be to not only build a side to become European Champions but also build a nation to climb the World and Co-Efficient rankings. This is my first solid attempt at this and we will be using the nation of Hungary, whilst managing Budapest Honved, for this journey. Why Hungary? Believe it or not, during the 1950s, Hungary were a dominant force on the International scene, where they had Olympic success, remianing unbeaten for 2 years, as well as being runners up in the 1954 World Cup. Behind this success, was Ferenc Puskas, who we are familair with to this day thanks to the FIFA Puskas award. Hungary were widely regarded for creating the fundementals of Total Football, which would later lay the baseline for the dutch variation which we all know and love, A slow decline then ensued, with Hungary eliminated from the 1986 World Cup, they then faield to qualify for a mjor tournament for over 30 years. Forward onto the 2000's and they have featured at 3 consecutive European Championships. Why Budapest Honved? With Hungary dominating the international scene in the 1950's, Honved were the powerhouse domestically, winning 5 out of 7 championships. 5 Honved players made up the spine of the legendary national team as the wreaked havoc. A decline to match that of the national team took decades to recover from with a bright spell from 1982 to 1994 which saw several league and cup triumphs. Another decline soon followed; on the final say of the 2022/23 season, the club were relegated from the Hungarian top flight. Save Aims Restore Honved to be a dominant force domestically Rebuild Hungary to once again compete nationaly, earning back the Might Maygers nickname Win the Champions League with Honved Win the World Cup with Hungary
R7LHJ
Updates We wont be doing month by month updates as they are pointless and i really want this save to be a long one. I'' keep updates coming for how the 3 squads look at the club and later into the save, looking to use the legendary 'Loan Farm' from @SecondYellowCard. As well as building up Honved, we need to help the other teams around us grow too so they can compete in Europe and help grow the co-efficient. We will track how domestic clubs are fairing iun Europe and how Hungary compete on the International stage. Main focus too will be around the co-efficient score and how thats helping Hungary to climb the ranks. So... Club wise, we have a really good set up. Im happy with the facilities and the fact we are a pro club. We are starting out in the second division so we need promotion forst and foremost. Hungary currently sit 36th in the WR and 24th in Europe. Domestically, the league (Div 1) rep sits at 27th, English Championship is up in 18th for comparision. Will track this best we can, but at the start, im using the 5.875 figure form the 2022/23 season. Go well fellow Hungarians, see you soon
CameronFM
Looking forward to seeing your progress with this one. I loved Hungary last year through the youth academy challenge, so I have a bit of a soft spot now for Hungarian talent. Out of interest, are you planning on restoring a former Hungary tactical system to Honved?

Swaban
This looks interesting! Can you elaborate on the loan farm? is it simply loaning players out to gain experience and then either integrating them into the first team or selling if they're not good enough? OR is there more to it that this?

Interesting point about a tactic - it’s not something I’d considered but could be a really great spin on the thread. Research needed for sure - happy for anyone’s input too though 13 hours ago, mpm2342 said: Looks like a fun one. Anything that makes those around us stronger, to compete in Europe. No point losing talent to other nations. 3 hours ago, mannojunior said: Looking forward to following this mate! Thanks mate! I've never thought of doing that before, hopefully it prevents the issues where you become dominant in the league & everything becomes too easy

Not only your point about dominating domestically but to improve the coefficient, Hungarian teams NEED to be competing in Europe too. So it’s going to be a fine balance of me reigning in Hungary but bringing along the rest of the league for some European fun!

mannojunior
Depends how quickly you play and also, just go for what makes you enjoy writing! I really enjoy quick snappy updates but equally, a detailed season update when doing a long save is also a good option.
Carambau
Do what you enjoy the most
mpm2342
Updates can change as you go too. Early save focus points will become rote later on, detail levels can decrease accordingly and increase in other areas later as they become more important. As @Carambau says, do what you enjoy most. CameronFM
Never a right or wrong answer for that one! Do what feels natural and flows for you the most.
R7LHJ
Season 2023/24 (Pre-Season) I havent played as much as id of liked this week due to work commitments. That said, the season is now underway and theres just one clear aim...promotion. Its fairly straight forward, the Top 2 go up. End of. We're 3rd favs to go up with the bookies, the media has us in 5th. Both the bookies and media have Gyori and Vasas to finish 1st and 2nd respectively. Guess its them we'll be gunning down...
R7LHJ
In the hope of keeping interest, in what is a very long term save idea, im going to run bi-monthly updates for the first season seeing as the sole objective is simply promotion. August (and July)/September 2023 Not alot to be said really. The results speak for themselves. Only negative was the defeat to Szeged, despite going 1-0 up. 1st - perfect. And we starting to pull away nicely. Would ideally like to start turning a profit soon. Maybe a cup run or increase in crowds due to league performance. R7LHJ
Winter Break Update 2023 A torrid October saw us give away what lead we'd created. Thank fully we started to steady the ship in October and progressed in the Magyar Kupa. We ended 2023 strongly with 2 wins and 2 clean sheets. 3rd - depsite falling apart in October, we are still in with a shout of promotion.
R7LHJ
February & March 2024 A solid return after the winter break saw us havea really decent February tbf, with just the one defeat. The same cant really be said for March, just one win in the 4 games, not good enough! 3rd - 5 points behind 2nd. Can we make up the difference? R7LHJ
April 2024 Solid in the league! Ending with quite possibly the craziest game ive ever been involved in on FM. On '68, we were 5-3 down. On '90 we were still 5-3 down! 3 goals in 6 crazy minutes saw us win the game somehow. Scenes! 1st - amazing pull back from March. Its in our hands and the run in favours us... R7LHJ
May 2024 We absolutely crumbled. It was all in our hands and we simply didnt take the chance. 3rd - a devasting end to the season. We will remain in this league next year and for the sake of the save, promotion is a must!
R7LHJ
2023/24 - Round Up Our balance increases but theres nothing for the already maxed out wage pot Nothing really to write home about in Europe this season - its vital we get promoted this season so we can really get this save moving.
