Reserves / B team

Recommended Posts

Due to losing my save and the slow process on trying to get it back - see thread 'new phone', I started a game with the smallest team in spain.

Understandably (perhaps), upon starting the game, their B team were not in any competitive league. However, two promotions later I'm now in the Secunda and thry still aren't even in a reserve league - surely this would change as the profile / division of the senior team does?

So, will I ever get my B team put in a reserves league (at least), or do I bin this save off and restart with a team who's reserves get games - as arranging constant friendlies against rubbish teams is hampering my ability to produce a conveyor belt of talent due to them developing far slower as a result of the above.

I'm not SI staff which is probably who you're looking for an answer from, but I think you'll find whether your B team gets promoted to a higher tier is based on random chance at best - at worst, it may be an oversight and not possible.

I've been travelling across the atlantic and am heavily jetlagged at the moment so probably not the best time for me to answer this (ie. it might not be 100% accurate) - its possible (I think) for your reserve team to pop-up in a reserve league, however its not at all guarenteed, I'll look at biasing this and improving this side of things in a future version if that is the case ... I've made a note to investigate this.

Apologies with the delay in replying, but please do bear in mind that the entire development team is busy on next years game at this point so we're keeping somewhat busy outside of answering questions on the forums.

Now in La Liga. my reserves are still not even in a reserve league, this is ridiculous.

Can't believe this issue hadn't come up before, or that no-one seems to know for certain if it will resolve itself.

I was looking forward to playing this year, but the consistent issues throughout this year's title's existence are killing it for me.

the first side of things (disappearing games earlier in the year which cost me two careers, the unnecessarily complicated process of transferring an existing game to a new phone that in itself doesn't seem to work in my experience) can be fixed quite easily by Netflix joining the real world and providing some sort of backup facility for players (a necessity if their move into gaming is a long-term consideration). However, gaps/bugs like this is on SI, and while I get that work is ongoing for the 25 edition, essentially downing tools on 24 halfway through its lifetime is unacceptable.

FM was part of my consideration in deciding which streamer to use this year or even long-term, though presently once I've watched the stuff that inherently interests me I doubt I'll go hunting for new programmes, I'll likely just move streamers and forgo FM, and I doubt I'm alone in that within the current player base unless significant improvements are made.

This is the first time I've had someone express a strong opinion in this regard, I do agree its a valid point and its something I'll try and put some time into thinking about once I've completed the planned features for FMM25, however it isn't a small change to undertake and isn't something that can be done quickly and safely (sorry).

I don't understand why, it's a complete pita on multiple levels:

• every month I have to go through every day trying to find a half decent friendly to keep them busy, this is rather time consuming.

• teams seem to put in fewer loan offers.

• players in the reserves as back up seem to develop somewhat slower playing friendlies than they do playing in the usual league.

Regardless, I've since won La Liga, my reserves still have no reserves league, I even tried bumping up their reputation to see if it would help get them an invite into the Spanish senior pyramid given I'm now a "big club". Nothing.

It's worth noting that a player has raised this exact issue with the main game in that discussion forum too, so it seems to be across all formats.

In terms of the final comment, Netflix has a finite amount of content that any given person is interested in. While I enjoy FM and have some for 25+ years, once I'm at the end of what I want to watch I can't really justify continuing to pay £60pa for a game that is broken for the way I like to play (starting from the bottom) - and that's ignoring the myriad of other teething issues there've been with the FM/Netflix collaboration this season.

I understand things slip the net, but in my other games reserve teams have changed leagues seamlessly as I move up the pyramid (for instance the Tamworth game I lost when I switched phones) - it seems to only be an issue when your chosen team's reserves start without a league

The reserves will play matches even if not in a reserve team, you don't actually need to do this btw.

How are your loan rules setup? - on the manager options page you can configure what you want to happen with your reserve team with regards to loans, if set correctly your assistant will keep them listed for loan and offer them out regularly which encourages loans.

(whether there is a reserve league or not shouldn't make a difference in this regard beyond a very marginal manner)

There shouldn't be much of a difference here as the game 'simulates' them playing matches at the same level they would if they were involved in a reserve league normally. This acts in a similar way to what you have when a nations leagues aren't active, apart from the stats aren't visible because I felt they might confuse people as to where they were coming from.

I'll mention that to the other teams, although our game engine is different to theirs in a lot of ways (and our fix will likely not automatically fix it on those products I'm afraid).

You are correct its where you start within a league set for your reserves, as mentioned I'll try and look into it for next years game - but its not a simple fix, sorry there are limitations into what can be undertaken during an update cycle for the game and I'm focussing on next years product at present (as is our QA department).
