Dev'o Posted June 9 Share Posted June 9 (edited) Roses are Red, Stars are Blue A Bit about Newcastle Blue Star Formed in 1930 as Newcastle Blue Star, the club joined the Newcastle Business Houses League two years later, where it competed for six seasons before moving to the North East Amateur League. This was followed by spells in the Tyneside Amateur League and the Northern Combination. In 1973, under the name Blue Star Welfare, the club advanced to the Wearside League, winning the championship in its first season and again in the 1975-76 season. The club also achieved victory in the FA Vase, defeating Barton Rovers 2-1 at Wembley. By 1979, the club had simplified its name to Blue Star. The early 1980s were a successful period, with the club winning the Wearside League for three consecutive seasons. During this time, they also reached the First Round proper of the FA Cup but were eliminated by York City, losing 2-0 at Bootham Crescent. In 1992, a consortium made a bid to buy the cash-strapped Fourth Division side Maidstone United, intending to move it to the northeast and merge it with Blue Star, which would have provided Blue Star with league football. However, the bid was rejected by Maidstone chairman Jim Thompson. In 2009, the club folded amidst heavy debts despite sitting in the Northern Premier League Premier Division - one tier away from the National League North... The Return In 2018, a local businessman took the initiative to reform the club, establishing teams from U8's through to seniors. Currently, Newcastle Blue Star is based in Scotswood, in the West End of the city, and competes in the Northern Football Alliance, the seventh tier of non-league football in England (overall eleventh tier). The club is adjacent to the sports centre and boxing club known as Grainger Park. In October 2018, Lady Elsie Robson officially opened the clubhouse, naming it the Sir Bobby Robson Lounge. In May 2023, after winning the Northern Football Alliance, Blue Star earned promotion back to the Northern League Division Two - The tenth tier.... The Home Turf..
