DaneBramage
July 2032 Interview Invite 13th in Serie A, only two wins in the last 11 games. -------------------------------------------- Poached Player Number 21. San Lorenzo are the sixth most reputable team in the country, we're twelfth. -------------------------------------------- Departures At the end of last season 25b Amadeo Martinez wanted a new contract, way above what our wage structure would allow. And even if we could afford it, only scoring three times in 22 league appearances was not a convincing argument that he deserved it. Based on CA he was one of our best players, but his performances didn't often reflect this. Soon enough he was handing in a transfer request, and after a few lower offers were rejected he was on the way to America de Cali in Mexico for £3.3 million. It's a bit less than I'd have liked, and there are no add-ons, but he's still our third biggest sale (based on initial fees only, fourth including clauses). Spoiler In the second half of last season Lautaro Montani complained about not playing enough, so I started him eight games in a row. He was then rested for one match, and kicked off again about not being used. He had a good run here, a couple of excellent seasons in 2023 and 2025, and was still averaging high ratings when he played, but at 33 he would have been let go when his contract expired at the season anyway so I was happy to let him go early. We're still paying him £350 per week for the next six months, but that's better than the £5.5k he was receiving. Spoiler -------------------------------------------- Primera Division During the Copa Sudamerica I received a message from my AssMan stating that 29e Aldo Reynoso wasn't handing the pressures of first-team football very well. Nonetheless, due to injuries elsewhere he remained in the starting line-up for the first few games of the season. And three games later he's contributed four goals, helping us to seven points from an unbeaten start. Spoiler -------------------------------------------- Finances Monthly Gain: £1,960,080 Profit this month but we'd have been in trouble if it wasn't for the sale of 25b Amadeo Martinez. Despite our regular top 12 finishes we're only 20th in the sponsorship income table. Until this improves we'll always be a selling club, even the stars are available at the right price. -------------------------------------------- Edited August 18 by DaneBramage
DaneBramage
August 2032 Copa Argentina Eliminated by a team in the league below us. I'm beginning to think some of these players enjoy being humiliated and fined. -------------------------------------------- Primera Division The loss to Aldosivi was my fault. I was setting up the first-team and second-string squads to rotate throughout the busy month, and we had a number of forwards injured or suspended. I made the decision to start with three untested youngsters in the attacking line, and obviously it did not work. I'm not taking the blame for the other losses during the month though, that's all on the players. As usual the worst offenders were punished with fines. To be fair, I won't take the credit for the 5-0 whooping of Newell's Old Boys. Their goalkeeper had a 'mare, conceding five times from five shots on target, at an xG of just 1.02. Last year's top scorer, 25e Valentin Maldonado, finally scored his first of the campaign at the 16th time of asking. Just outside the continental qualification places, but we do have a game or two in hand on the sides above us. -------------------------------------------- Finances Monthly Loss: £806,237 -------------------------------------------- Edited August 20 by DaneBramage
DaneBramage
September 2032 Primera Division Spoiler I was annoyed by August's form so decided to play around with the formation a bit. I moved the ball-winning midfielder MC to DMC, but then felt that left me short in midfield, so pulled back the deep-lying forward from ST to AMC, and changed the role to shadow striker. But then I felt like that clashed with the inside forward AML, so moved them back to winger ML. So I've ended up with a wacky asymmetrical formation, I don't know what to call it. It's not 4-5-1 but it's not 4-3-3 either. Maybe 4-3-2-1. Regardless of what it's called, we've made a good start with it. We picked up 13 points from a possible 18 in September, much better than last month. The only match I was really miffed with was the 3-3 draw at Almagro. They were down to ten men after just eight minutes, we should have battered them but 27c Rafael Gomez managed to concede all three of the only shots they had on target. Flying high! I like this. And we have a game in hand. But only a couple of points split quite a few teams, we could easily drop again if we don't take advantage. -------------------------------------------- Finances Monthly Loss: £932,167 -------------------------------------------- Edited August 20 by DaneBramage
DaneBramage
October 2032 Poached Players This is ridiculous. Players 22 and 23 poached away. Union de Santa Fe are ranked as a 3.5 Continental side whereas we're only 3.0, but we do have a higher ranking than Chacarita Jrs. -------------------------------------------- Primera Division This is ridiculous. The buzz from the new formation died out as soon as the next month started, and we were terrible for the next few matches. We struggled to score goals, though we made up for that in style at Godoy Cruz. We're back into the more familiar surroundings of the Copa Sudamerica qualification places, but it's still super close. Six games remaining. -------------------------------------------- Finances Monthly Loss: £1,004,941 This is ridiculous. I think I should have been stricter on wages, we're spending roughly £125k per week, or half a million a month. Once the season ends we're going to need a bit of a clear-out, not just for the transfer fees but to bring down the wage bill. --------------------------------------------
DaneBramage
December 2032 Primera Division After the Ferro Cariil Oeste loss we reverted back to the traditional 4-4-2 formation but it made no difference, we continued to be rubbish. At least we ended the season with a win, though it was only against the side bottom of the table so was barely a cause to celebrate. Ugh. Just completely and utterly annoyed by this. No commitment, no effort, no quality, I am fed up with this team. -------------------------------------------- Edited August 21 by DaneBramage
