Carrilero in a mildfield two?

What have you guys noticed about the carrilero in a midfield pairing?

He sits wider and shuffles between the lines instead of moving between boxes. This makes him an excellent role to babysit an aggressive wingback, in a 4-4-2 diamond or to simply cover space in a tactic.

Given the passage of time it's not a case of expecting you to perfectly remember a previous discussion but you did raise the topic of Carrilero's (or at least something similar in function) in the past with some good, insightful posts.

How would playing an inverted wingback affect this role, and mezzala for that matter? I've got a wb/if combination on one side, and an iwb/w on the other. Do I want my mez/car on the same side as the wb/if or the opposite? (I've got a mez+bwm pairing)
