(Same Season) I also want to do well in the Cup competitions, but they aren't a priority for me. If I could pull off the Japanese Quadruple with just 25 players, I would quit playing FM! It was just that it was like the AI Squad Builder just neglected the team in every way. Urawa won the Asian Champions League in 2023 IRL so they are among the biggest teams in Japan. Even though they haven't won the J1 League title since 2010. It is Toranaga's intention to build a dominating team both domestically and to conquer Asia. Schedule Highlights Toranaga wondered about the former manager and speculated why he left..... Daniel Minde He probably left for higher compensation. The first match of the month was a League Cup clash.... The team was anticipated to win, despite fielding a rotated squad that included a 16-year-old Academy graduate making his debut! He performed well as the team stormed to victory in front of the fans! After the victory the team had to contend with a short turnaround before hosting Title Contenders Kobe at Urawa Stadium. Match of the Week and with title implications already! Domination ensued and Kobe didn't know what hit them! National TV Highlights of the blowout victory! The media are jumping on the bandwagon! Next up was Yokohama FC and they would face a rotated team. The run continued after overcoming a determined Yokohama team! The first cracks in Locker room cohesion came when Nagoya came for our backup DM. He wanted to leave and stated it forcefully but since the scouts hadn't found suitable replacements Toranaga wouldn't sanction a move. Nagoya kept coming until the deadline and Toranaga continued to refuse. Luckily he kept quiet about it to his teammates. Next to visit Urawa Stadium was the relegation-threatened team from Niigata. And another convincing win! The Rotated Team is set to compete against Sapporo in the second leg of the Cup match. And Nagoya kept up the pressure going into Transfer Deadline Day! The rotating team eventually overcame Sapporo's resolute defense. As a result we would advance in the competition and take on J2 leading FC Tokyo! Other teams continued to try and unsettle the team that had quickly become force to be reckoned with! The team then embarked on a significant journey to face Kawasaki Frontale, who were contenders for the title. Deadline Day came and Toranaga decided to not make any moves.....even though the Leverkeusen GK intrigued him. Nagoya made several desperate bids on Deadline Day, but Toranaga refused every one of them! and it was another tough win over the old boss! Toranaga was still learning how good his team was! Following the significant victory, Toranaga was taken aback by the email but was pleased to receive it as it aligned with his strategies. After the Transfer Window problems Toranaga set about fixing them and it went well with Yamada the starting DM. Next up Tokubo the backup AMR came looking for a raise and more playing time. Toranaga was happy to give him a raise but not the playing time and negotiations broke off...... and when many members of the team came to him he relented and reopened negotiations..... He was pleased to ease tensions in the locker room by granting a player more playing time and a salary increase, and he was thrilled to see the player seize the opportunity. Unfortunately, Okubo sustained an injury during training due to the demanding schedule, yet the team persevered, continuing their winning streak. However, the streak grew into a daunting challenge, increasing pressure on the team with each victory. Signs of strain appeared against Fukushima United, and the streak ultimately concluded towards the end of the month against title rivals Shonan. Nonetheless, the team is in a strong position to maintain this level of performance and potentially defy expectations with a genuine title bid. Toranaga's primary goal is the J1 League Title, and he is confident that he can achieve it with this squad. Schedule Highlights The month kicked off with a game against the top J2 League team. The in form team gave the rotated squad a game. After the match, the Okubo Revolt concluded; however, his increased playing time could pose challenges for the team's rotation. Once more, the team is favored on the road ahead of a challenging match. Okubo's debut in the Starting XI was a success! The team then returned home for another challenging match. The unbeaten streak that began at the end of the previous season is now set to create a record... Another big match for the Reds! Another victory after a close hard-fought match. Okubo has responded to demanding his chance in the first team. The next match would see Toranaga return to Fukushima. Fukushima put up a strong fight and gained the lead, but it required a spectacular shot from Bertagnoli for the team to secure a draw. The winning streak may have ended, but their record of not being defeated remains intact! Toranaga would have been happier if the team on the pitch had been as welcoming! After the match the team only had Two days to prepare for the Leagues Cup Second Leg versus FC Tokyo. The team was up for it and the rotated squad saw off the competition. Our next opponent in the competition would be J1 League Shonan! The team would be without Okubo who would miss a month with a twisted ankle. A mixed team won the match! The bandwagon and the pressure it brings is becoming annoying! Another big match against a title contender this time at their place. The team ultimately faced defeat. It was a tightly contested match, but the dismissal of our captain followed by Shonan's immediate scoring determined the outcome. Man of the Match and a Red Card! What a match! After the deflating loss the team returned home. The team could immediately have a "Get Good" game by facing the underperforming FC Machida. Toranaga was looking for fight from the players...... and he got it in Spades as the team dominated the match! Some of it is quality of the players but I suspect that some of it is due to the match engine favoring the Gegen Press that can't confirm. This intense schedule led to a few missteps, yet the team rose to the occasion. The most notable setbacks were the defeat to our rivals Kashima, who outplayed us in set pieces, and the final match of the month where our shooting was subpar. Improving our shooting is likely a priority for Toranaga, either later this season or the next. Apart from that, we remain contenders for the J1 League Title. UP THE REDS! Schedule Highlights The busy month started with a trip to Nagasaki. Favored yet again over a struggling team. The reshuffled team accomplished the task with conviction! Bertagnoli heads the rotation team of backups, yet within Toranaga's rotation, he receives ample playing time as an impactful substitute in starting XI matches. The team returned home off the victory to take on title contenders Fukuoka. The team did a professional job and won 2-0! The team then went on to take on rivals the Kashima Antlers. Just before the big match the First Choice GK was lost for a month-long stint in the physio room. Despite Kashima being the home team, they were not the favorites. Bettors are aware that home underdogs often present valuable opportunities. We had no response to their deadball prowess; it was humiliating, particularly after securing a lead within the first minute. The Kashima Boss was fully justified in celebrating after the victory! Toranaga attempted to minimize the significance of the loss, which was somewhat justified considering the team struck the woodwork four times during the match! This fact upsets Toranaga and he plans to rebuild the Urawa Academy! Our opponent as we start the ALL-Japan Cup! The team was the underdog on the road for another big match up! It was this season's 1 versus 2! The team was ready and went out to a 2-0 lead then the Referee tried to change the game, but it didn't work. We dominated in spite of the fouls called. Shonan got a late consolation goal. Another Rotation match against a team struggling for form. Urawa were road favorites. Urawa's domination was spearheaded by Bertagnoli! On an off day, the team's star player, akin to our own Mo Salah, approached with a desire for a new contract... Toranaga was pleased to secure him for the peak of his career! The team came back home to play against Tokyo-Verdy, where they were heavily favored against the team in form. Both teams abandoned caution, and ultimately, Kastrati's hat trick, reminiscent of Mo Salah's style, secured our victory! After the thrilling victory went on the road against a middle of the pack team that was in form. The celebrations following the Tokyo-V match left a bit of a hangover. It was a game where our inaccurate shooting was our downfall. The Hirano situation had a happy ending when he accepted his place as backup DM as the backups get plenty of playing time in Toranaga's rotation system. J1 is the top of the Japanese Football Leagues. It is probably equivalent in actual ability of the players to the Championship, but the winners do play for the Asian Football Championship which is close to the Champions League but for Asian teams and much less money even if the Saudis are involved. In fact Urawa Red Diamonds won the AFC in 2023 and also in 2018 even though they haven't won the J1 League since 2006! There is a J2 League immediately under it and a J3 League below that. The J3 league is probably equivalent of EFL2. Schedule Highlights The month would start with a visit from a midtable team finding form, but we were favored. Our loss was due to sloppy defending and goalkeeping. Nevertheless, with a bit of luck on the offensive end, we probably could have won the match. We had seen our lead in the standings diminish due to a mix of misfortune and complacency, yet there were no excuses. After the match at the presser, Toranaga complained about the team's inaccurate shooting...... The consensus among analysts is that we faced tough circumstances, but it was simply one of those days on the field. With the onset of summer break and the transfer window, Toranaga is shaken by the unfolding events. The news has sparked considerable interest in the team's players, who are finding themselves the subject of attention. Following the defeat, Toranaga fielded a mixed team of players, comprising both starters and reserves, whom he felt were prepared to meet his expectations. He almost felt sorry for the J3 Team....... Ito is more defensive minded but Bertagnoli is the Shooting threat. As you can see Toranaga has conundrum, but Ito is getting looks from Portugal. A Hall of Fame coach and former league champion has taken the helm of a team facing relegation. The backup right-back will have to forgo his vacation. As Toranaga mentioned, players were being swayed. This occurred subsequent to him proposing a new contract that significantly raised his salary. Damac met his release clause, and we extended a contract in the hope that he would remain with us. The discussion about the takeover has subsided for the moment... it seems finances may have played a role in this. The Team hosted an All-Japan Cup match and were the favorites to win. The team confirmed the capture of an upcoming Free Agent to replace Ito in the Midfield. Tatsuki Seko MCR-CAR-S The Team ended up winning a tight match in the All-Japan Cup. Our next opponent in the All-Japan Cup will be Okayama. Damac got their man offering a much bigger salary $2.74M/Year than we were $1M/Year. The team then set out to face a formidable Kobe squad. The match was closely contested, yet our shots found their way into the back of the net! After the match, Toranaga continued to recruit younger players for the future to indoctrinate them in the URAWA WAY! Takuya Sato CM He also signed a backup Striker for next season as well and loaned him back to his team for the rest of this season. Kanta Chiba Striker After several weeks of training and no matches Toranaga set up a friendly with a top Indonesian Team. It was a demolition led by the backups that needed match fitness. Following the end of transfer speculation, Hasegawa has signed a significant contract. Takumi Hasegawa DR-WB-D The team ended the month continuing its All-Japan Cup run: Urawa was the host and expected to win. The 4-1 victory came as anticipated, showcasing dominance. The team was performing well and on track for a title; it made no sense to rock the boat and weaken us just as we were entering the crucial part of the season. Securing a significant win against Yokohama FC, Nishikubo filled in for Ito and excelled in a new position. The next challenge for the struggling Niigata team was to face a squad with several rotations. Another significant victory for the team! However, it came with a price... our key player is out for the remainder of the month! The next match would be a visit from the current J1 Champions. The home team, Urawa Reds, was favored due to their recent form. A close fought victory as the team showed its determination to win even though they gave up a late goal. It was yet another Pyrrhic victory; the team will be without our striker for a month. Continuing to plan for the future, Toranaga has made a significant investment by signing a new goalkeeper for a record $5.5 million for the upcoming season. Masata Sasaki SK-D After the big victory continued tying down players for the future. That concludes a hectic transfer window! The team was favored on the road—a situation that Toranaga does not enjoy. another match and another injury..... Our starting left back will miss the rest of the season and has been referred to a specialist. Once the media spotlights a streak, the pressure mounts anew. The upcoming match is the All-Japan Cup Quarterfinal, with Urawa being the favorites against a formidable Fukuoka team. Just before the match we lost the Rock of our defense Hoibraten. Ultimately, the rotated squad capitalized on the situation and secured victory in the tightly contested match. The next round will see us take on minnows Tokushima Vortis who upset Shonan. Another board expectation checked off the list. The final match of the month saw a visit from midtable Iwata. Toranaga took the chance to spell out the direction of the team for the rest of the season: Title or Bust! It was just a day when we couldn't buy a goal..... The Hoibraten Saga reached a satisfying conclusion when the team recognized that the title was attainable. I am amazed at how well the team is playing no real complacency and a bit of luck has lasted all season long. This saw the team qualify for the Asian Champions League and build up a 10-point lead over second place. Toranaga finally began to believe that this was going to be the year Red Diamond fans had been waiting for since 2006! Schedule Highlights The month of September 2026 began with a two-legged draw in the League Cup Quarterfinal versus Fukuoka. The initial match of the series took place at Urawa Stadium, with Toranaga aiming for a strong start. The match was a lackluster event with both teams reluctant to take the initiative. Urawa managed to score first, however, they conceded a goal due to a late penalty. The second leg took place in Fukuoka, and the outcome was uncertain, and the home team favored. Toranaga opted to rotate the squad bringing in Fresh legs and the Red Diamonds scored first and then held on for a historic victory. As a result the team would play Kawasaki Frontale in the next round. The team then hit the road to face the second-placed Yokohama F-Marinos in a top-of-the-table clash. The narrow victory secured our position in the upper half of the league standings. The team check off some more objectives! The ongoing unbeaten streak is increasing the pressure on the team. A few days later the backups took the field against struggling Fukushima. The victory was decisive, yet it was slightly tarnished by a consolation goal from Fukushima. The Streak continued and we were now 10 points ahead of second place. The team traveled to Osaka to continue their winning streak and edge closer to the coveted J1 Title. We aimed to secure a spot in the Champions League, with a victory guaranteeing us a top-three finish in the league. This was yet another match where our shooting performance was our downfall... After the big Victory in the ALL-Japan Cup the team returned home to a tough Shonan team..... The team was on a high and looked imperious in their performance against the perennial title contenders. The victory also assured that the team's schedule would be even more hectic next season! The Asian Champions League Football offers reasonable budgets with flexibility to maneuver if necessary. Heading to face the relegation-threatened FC Machida, there's an opportunity to secure the championship title. It was a resounding victory, yet the title remained just a few weeks out of reach... Toranaga's former team faced relegation. He departed, aware that they lacked the competitiveness required at this tier, exacerbated by their decision to abandon the 4-3-3 Gegen press strategy. The team then had to travel to the National Stadium for the League Cup Final. Urawa is set to confront their nearest rivals in the title race during the final, marking the first step towards a potential domestic treble. This isn't a good omen...... We narrowly lost the final, but an academy player managed to score his first goal on his debut. So close yet so far the Domestic Treble is off but there is still a chance for a Double and the J1 League Title is within our grasp..... The comparison to Liverpool is fitting; a storied club that experienced a period of decline and required a dynamic manager to orchestrate a revival. The future looks promising, and competitors have been warned, yet it will require considerable effort to remain at the pinnacle. Highlights After the loss in the league cup final the team had to pick itself up and finish the job in the J1 League. Losing the final sharpened the minds and hearts of the team. The team that fatefully found itself obstructing destiny was the mid-table team from Nagasaki. Secure victory in the upcoming match and become among the greatest Urawa Reds teams of all time! and we're scoring goals for fun headed towards another record! We did it with Aplomb! We've won it! For the first time since 2006! We still have some distance to cover before we catch up with the leading teams, and FM25 will likely be released before we manage to do so. From obscurity to Hall of Fame status in just three seasons, along with two league titles! Silverware for the trophy cabinet! In the midst of the celebrations, a youth player was poached by the rival team, Kashima. I believe we can raise it with three matches left! Toranaga decided this would be a good time to ask for a Coaching Course and Contract Extension. That isn't how he is wired there were records to break and this team had the chance to achieve greatness. He wouldn't let complacency into the team. The Team played well in the two matches but was denied by the woodwork against Kashima. This has been a remarkable season and the team's offensive numbers have been eyepopping! Schedule Highlights The remaining matches were considered dead rubber, but Toranaga was determined to continue playing well for the fans. It's evident that the team still had more at stake to play for. Guard of Honor before the Match! Jun Nishikawa scored the decisive goal, securing our victory in a match dominated by "keep away" tactics. The next match, which was the second-to-last of the season, pitted them against their rivals, the Kashima Antlers. The match would be challenging against the perennial title contenders and rivals. We didn't lose but should have won by the numbers......We hit the Crossbar/Woodwork FOUR times! Then the awards came pouring in for the team and vindicated the season and their success. The problem now lies continuing to pursue titles and trophies as one of the "hunted" instead of being the Hunter. Schedule Highlights The last match was against an already relegated team. The team was on the brink of setting a new record for the most goals in a J1 Season. They needed just three more to achieve this milestone. The team achieved the record, yet there was potential for an even greater number of goals. Decent amount of money for winning the league. Not Bundesliga or Premier League Money though. and the board gave it all away as bonuses...... Player of the Year He began the season as a substitute making significant impacts, yet his stellar performances quickly established him as the key catalyst in the championship campaign. Massimo Bertagnoli MCR-CAR-S The award served as a vindication of Toranaga's management. Five players in the starting XI of the season and 4 substitutes. How did the player of the Year NOT make the starting XI? The chairperson aims to leave on a high note, a sentiment that has been apparent throughout the season. What’s next? It was a great season with Urawa and the next was starting well as well but I felt like I was going through the motions. School is starting and I won't have as much time to play. So, my next career update will be during FM25. I am going back to the first club I ever managed on FM14. When I knew nothing about the game or Football/Soccer in general. The Team had left off where they had the season left off with what turned into a 22-match unbeaten streak. A couple of losses to title rivals and then a confluence of injuries and schedule congestion led to a losing streak in the latter half of April. May came and the team was back at it and retook it place a top the table and should be a good bet to repeat as champions. It will be tough, but Toranaga thinks the team can do it. The only thing that Toranaga doesn't know is how Asian Champions League Football will affect the schedule near the end. Schedule We began the campaign with a strong performance but then faltered against other title contenders. The losses at the end of April can be attributed to injuries and a congested schedule, particularly because we were facing Title Contenders and were unable to rotate the squad effectively. Additionally, Toranaga discovered that several team members harbor a fear of big matches. May marked a return to form, culminating in a one-off against Kashima where the dread of big matches reemerged. The rival manager's mind games played a part as well. Subsequently, Toranaga seized the opportunity to rotate the squad and impose his style, leading the team to the top of the table by month's end. I was worried it all looked too easy, but Urawa Reds is a big team and they already had good players. We are working on another J1 Title and playing Asian Champions League. I think that the prize money for the AFC Champions League has been changed ever since they were rebranded as AFC Champions League Elite, which means that it should be updated with the new format being made. Toranaga's primary goal is securing the J1 Title, and while success in the AFC would be a welcome bonus, the J1 League remains the priority. Schedule League Table Highlights In early August, we discovered the teams in our Asian Champions League Group. Toranaga isn't too worried and expects the backups to win the group in the additional games, allowing the starters to focus on the heavy lifting in the J1 League. The analysts were keen to delve into the update, and as you can observe, our figures are comparable to the previous season. We're scoring slightly less, but there has been a slight improvement in our defense and shooting accuracy as well. Toranaga, heeding the Assistant Manager's advice, held a team meeting before the match against Yokohama FC. Unfortunately, his words backfired, triggering the team's fear of big games. The nervousness was palpable, and their performance suffered. Despite this, we clinched the league title with an extra-time goal from our MVP, Bertagnoli. Toranaga has laid the groundwork for a championship team and is eager to maintain dominance in Japan's J1 League and set sights on triumphing across Asia. Schedule League Table Season Analysis Report We're taking fewer shots, shooting with greater accuracy, and scoring more goals than the number we're conceding by a comfortable margin. It's no surprise that we're leading the league. Highlights Following the team's dominance in the J1 League and their success in the AFC, the board has decided to extend the manager's contract. Answering a different press corps about the AFC, but this is true for ALL Competitions.
