[FM 24] Toranaga's Ambition: Rise of a Soccer Shogun?

Great start to Urawa life!

With J1 being the pinnacle, you're surely set up for an assault on the Asian Champions League!

That is the aim. Bring back Urawa to the pinnacle of the J1 League and win the Asian Champions League.

They won the ACL in 2023 but haven't won the League since 2010. I intend to do both. If I can do that double, I will consider the save finished. (Same Season) I also want to do well in the Cup competitions, but they aren't a priority for me.

If I could pull off the Japanese Quadruple with just 25 players, I would quit playing FM!

I truly hate the Japanese Schedule after playing in 18 team leagues with only one cup competition. (ie Germany)

After the move Toranaga was astonished at the state of the team infrastructure. The facilities were great and financial backing was there. No reason why this team can't get back to the top having won the Asian Champions League in just 2023. Somehow the manager and Director of Football had let things run down on the staff side of the equation. The players left were good enough but would be stretched thin over the season even without Asian Champions League Football. The team doesn't even have the FOUR HGC's needed for J1 League registration let alone champion's league. Rebuilding the Youth System is something that will be a priority over the next few years. The team will also try to supplement it by purchasing the transfer of talented youngsters from other teams. Toranaga isn't going to bid for the first shiny object but is going to wait until he gets reports from his new scouting staff from all over Asia.

Let's hope it's not a case of outa the frying pan and into the fire!

The transition to Urawa presented a significant challenge, as the team was in disarray. To achieve the board's objectives, both coaching and playing staff were essential. Despite these challenges, the club secured the Asian Champions League title in 2023. The current squad is projected to finish 7th in the J1 League. It's a project akin to rebuilding a giant, and this giant is very much awake and active.

Pre-season friendlies have gone well.

The team has made impressive progress, swiftly picking up from where they left off last season. With four wins out of five this season and a twelve-match unbeaten streak, it's clear we're doing many things right. Toranaga's strategic team rotation has been beneficial, and the team's quality positions us as favorites in most matches, especially now that we've topped the table. There's a strong sense of camaraderie within the team, although one player stands out. Nevertheless, he remains an essential component for our title run this season. The future looks promising.

UP THE REDS!

And a great start to the new season.

It isn't out of the frying pan of relegation threatened to another firestorm. It was just that it was like the AI Squad Builder just neglected the team in every way. Urawa won the Asian Champions League in 2023 IRL so they are among the biggest teams in Japan. Even though they haven't won the J1 League title since 2010.

It is Toranaga's intention to build a dominating team both domestically and to conquer Asia.

March 2026

Manager's Thoughts

The team is performing strongly, emerging as a formidable opponent and a genuine contender for the title. Despite their on-field success, one might assume the locker room to be free of issues. However, attempts by rival teams to destabilize the players have resulted in a player revolt. The sole beacon of hope is their ability to maintain good performance despite the off-field discord. The question remains: Can Toranaga unify the team and secure their first title run since 2006?

Schedule

Highlights

Toranaga wondered about the former manager and speculated why he left.....

Daniel Minde

He probably left for higher compensation.

The first match of the month was a League Cup clash....

image.png.b600fac830ff66a7a98c334422628d1a.png

The team was anticipated to win, despite fielding a rotated squad that included a 16-year-old Academy graduate making his debut!

He performed well as the team stormed to victory in front of the fans!

After the victory the team had to contend with a short turnaround before hosting Title Contenders Kobe at Urawa Stadium.

Match of the Week and with title implications already!

Domination ensued and Kobe didn't know what hit them!

National TV Highlights of the blowout victory!

The media are jumping on the bandwagon!

image.png.774955942c94af38a84bb74925f4525b.png

Next up was Yokohama FC and they would face a rotated team.

image.png.fefa9271509132c06a66a417929b8cc8.png

The run continued after overcoming a determined Yokohama team!

image.png.f90b921eae4fceca9403bade62745bdb.png

The first cracks in Locker room cohesion came when Nagoya came for our backup DM. He wanted to leave and stated it forcefully but since the scouts hadn't found suitable replacements Toranaga wouldn't sanction a move. Nagoya kept coming until the deadline and Toranaga continued to refuse. Luckily he kept quiet about it to his teammates.

image.png.f5f2affed5b9e95a6e70cc7f4cc35dd7.png

Next to visit Urawa Stadium was the relegation-threatened team from Niigata.

image.png.1729e833b46fef52f74daff7c4665241.png

And another convincing win!

image.png.0502e350f2b023960e2bdf493f597028.png

The Rotated Team is set to compete against Sapporo in the second leg of the Cup match.

image.png.7d65e3d3b429450d41ad1441d2714770.png

And Nagoya kept up the pressure going into Transfer Deadline Day!

image.png.76b01c3a35ab2004e9e5817d4337ce97.png

The rotating team eventually overcame Sapporo's resolute defense.

image.png.a100e8b1995f869206a6748fe2699f6e.png

As a result we would advance in the competition and take on J2 leading FC Tokyo!

image.png.8976d2ac5988244ff08e608f7fabbbf8.png

Other teams continued to try and unsettle the team that had quickly become force to be reckoned with!

image.png.34d7118942352c0d4ce5e2a0e4e607b4.png

The team then embarked on a significant journey to face Kawasaki Frontale, who were contenders for the title.

image.png.8596dca69376f210970d5a7e76fbf2c5.png

Deadline Day came and Toranaga decided to not make any moves.....even though the Leverkeusen GK intrigued him.

image.png.845c4a9b7bbfcaf7b9332cb59ad5e5ad.png

Nagoya made several desperate bids on Deadline Day, but Toranaga refused every one of them!

image.png.6b8435ccdb9b66dcdd3897801fd8b812.png

image.png.e692ada03690e6cc01f831f6b6cd3905.png

and it was another tough win over the old boss!

image.png.9e7a65b4ba8eca5b1cecbfba5e468699.png

Toranaga was still learning how good his team was!

image.png.a138295423e76eea78b30c0302bd3fb3.png

Following the significant victory, Toranaga was taken aback by the email but was pleased to receive it as it aligned with his strategies.

image.png.f8187e1129b4426082c6c8c53f5da7f3.png

After the Transfer Window problems Toranaga set about fixing them and it went well with Yamada the starting DM.

Next up Tokubo the backup AMR came looking for a raise and more playing time. Toranaga was happy to give him a raise but not the playing time and negotiations broke off......

image.png.ba8cd24b69b1e2bdf5a825f7c8d09740.png

and when many members of the team came to him he relented and reopened negotiations.....

Team Leadership support has gone down due to the Okubo Locker Room Uprising. Toranaga placated the protest and it should go up again.

Monthly Financial Report

The finances are stable. The losses are primarily attributed to future payments for transfers that occurred before Toranaga's leadership.

April 2026

Manager's Thoughts

Toranaga managed the hectic month of April as well as one could expect. He was pleased to ease tensions in the locker room by granting a player more playing time and a salary increase, and he was thrilled to see the player seize the opportunity. Unfortunately, Okubo sustained an injury during training due to the demanding schedule, yet the team persevered, continuing their winning streak. However, the streak grew into a daunting challenge, increasing pressure on the team with each victory. Signs of strain appeared against Fukushima United, and the streak ultimately concluded towards the end of the month against title rivals Shonan. Nonetheless, the team is in a strong position to maintain this level of performance and potentially defy expectations with a genuine title bid. Toranaga's primary goal is the J1 League Title, and he is confident that he can achieve it with this squad.

Schedule

Highlights

The month kicked off with a game against the top J2 League team.

After the match, the Okubo Revolt concluded; however, his increased playing time could pose challenges for the team's rotation.

image.png.d71a9c518f2c00ac4de92640bc903792.png

Once more, the team is favored on the road ahead of a challenging match.

Okubo's debut in the Starting XI was a success!

image.png.e005a17318ee3e51c6d754ff61996238.png

The team then returned home for another challenging match.

image.png.5364b052733dc98d9dd8dcbd4eaf8e6a.png

The unbeaten streak that began at the end of the previous season is now set to create a record...

image.png.b64a55c57d1bbbd212c5b6fffc550e56.png

Another big match for the Reds!

Another victory after a close hard-fought match.

image.png.3ba7522a474c28ca2fe896f79eb1e961.png

The next match would see Toranaga return to Fukushima.

image.png.c5e07a2e92ff05c4751290b88d1a1e21.png

Fukushima put up a strong fight and gained the lead, but it required a spectacular shot from Bertagnoli for the team to secure a draw. The winning streak may have ended, but their record of not being defeated remains intact!

image.png.3107f7ad9a1fee55cc0d3755eb2f8893.png

Toranaga would have been happier if the team on the pitch had been as welcoming!

After the match the team only had Two days to prepare for the Leagues Cup Second Leg versus FC Tokyo.

image.png.d0289a019286de35a0be2163795bc1e7.png

The team was up for it and the rotated squad saw off the competition.

image.png.a86eccaaff094962b7a6be2c1e5a1ac1.png

Our next opponent in the competition would be J1 League Shonan!

image.png.bdcb2391b0193fba4b1bbcd1efb76012.png

The team would be without Okubo who would miss a month with a twisted ankle.

image.png.40f9cae5406948f2e7ed19381049a526.png

A mixed team won the match!

image.png.bdcf8e35bdf3ecbc93c429bc332c1ffe.png

The bandwagon and the pressure it brings is becoming annoying!

image.png.506f777f22a3caadcb250965f2b75ab7.png

Another big match against a title contender this time at their place.

image.png.a57718090a52b0f19982b5a19bed91e1.png

The team ultimately faced defeat. It was a tightly contested match, but the dismissal of our captain followed by Shonan's immediate scoring determined the outcome.

image.png.da64c027bce4b7c241e82a730a3048bc.png

Man of the Match and a Red Card! What a match!

image.png.4f38cd5d8a40a882fe3f03a7352f1037.png

After the deflating loss the team returned home.

image.png.c79e9d5c5a66861662e6bb52f535c4f9.png

The team could immediately have a "Get Good" game by facing the underperforming FC Machida.

Toranaga was looking for fight from the players......

June 2026

Manager's Thoughts

May proved to be another frenzied month for the team, with eight matches, including four in a mere ten days! This intense schedule led to a few missteps, yet the team rose to the occasion. The most notable setbacks were the defeat to our rivals Kashima, who outplayed us in set pieces, and the final match of the month where our shooting was subpar. Improving our shooting is likely a priority for Toranaga, either later this season or the next. Apart from that, we remain contenders for the J1 League Title.

UP THE REDS!

Schedule

image.png.19756a55956764fc3a16345ebdd28106.png

Highlights

The busy month started with a trip to Nagasaki.

image.png.35fb74a303135a8fe74ad6d30345a126.png

Favored yet again over a struggling team.

image.png.a3e1230d7cc6498f910a45159d13bc03.png

The reshuffled team accomplished the task with conviction!

image.png.5f70d1b700aef0531fabbd459ca936c7.png

Bertagnoli heads the rotation team of backups, yet within Toranaga's rotation, he receives ample playing time as an impactful substitute in starting XI matches.

image.png.22fd678757b32875cdf6a632ed83b81d.png

The team returned home off the victory to take on title contenders Fukuoka.

image.png.f43d32bf505ec665b0b220623d78154d.png

The team did a professional job and won 2-0!

The team then went on to take on rivals the Kashima Antlers.

image.png.b39d23707a886f1f0d40346ff621321a.png

image.png.e22d4cc76b04d44e5bed91eff5525d4e.png

Just before the big match the First Choice GK was lost for a month-long stint in the physio room.

image.png.c08d08133c2e10399e6e6c9c1dc62c98.png

Despite Kashima being the home team, they were not the favorites. Bettors are aware that home underdogs often present valuable opportunities.

image.png.24e2bf2005a2fdb0b0e2cdc657096f3b.png

We had no response to their deadball prowess; it was humiliating, particularly after securing a lead within the first minute.

image.png.3f44e03ff9defca7becbda0e3f712602.png

The Kashima Boss was fully justified in celebrating after the victory!

image.png.87b54097789dce547e88a93282dd97d8.png

Toranaga attempted to minimize the significance of the loss, which was somewhat justified considering the team struck the woodwork four times during the match!

image.png.d5358c051cf6aa9e7740c43579b16c29.png

This fact upsets Toranaga and he plans to rebuild the Urawa Academy!

image.png.15636cd8dae94ff9a9e7c9192e245565.png

Our opponent as we start the ALL-Japan Cup!

image.png.cc0a382e0d7f493ea8296c48b0536bdc.png

The team was the underdog on the road for another big match up! It was this season's 1 versus 2!

image.png.c0247a915cbf9a9978c6a4964d91f62d.png

The team was ready and went out to a 2-0 lead then the Referee tried to change the game, but it didn't work. We dominated in spite of the fouls called. Shonan got a late consolation goal.

image.png.2ead9fb97f1d7d49f8b5e69671ef0079.png

Another Rotation match against a team struggling for form. Urawa were road favorites.

image.png.dba4bcc5916f65cff44553461f7fa41d.png

Urawa's domination was spearheaded by Bertagnoli!

image.png.9a9ad16b150ffb8aee73a4211a5ff3ed.png

image.png.4310d1adce61938fb0a63c6297863bcb.png

On an off day, the team's star player, akin to our own Mo Salah, approached with a desire for a new contract... Toranaga was pleased to secure him for the peak of his career!

image.png.d39925aea8877b20491311daae43ad3c.png

The team came back home to play against Tokyo-Verdy, where they were heavily favored against the team in form.

image.png.fb7ed2cb6f9f60c3cd94c7b0959ca6e3.png

Both teams abandoned caution, and ultimately, Kastrati's hat trick, reminiscent of Mo Salah's style, secured our victory!

image.png.3fd391b3f11fb1029a1b2183b6ae9551.png

After the thrilling victory went on the road against a middle of the pack team that was in form.

image.png.fa3a5736b17011b10f267929c643c9af.png

The celebrations following the Tokyo-V match left a bit of a hangover. It was a game where our inaccurate shooting was our downfall.

image.png.e6d8b9e99c6635268655d5051ee0d53d.png

The Hirano situation had a happy ending when he accepted his place as backup DM as the backups get plenty of playing time in Toranaga's rotation system.

J1 is the top of the Japanese Football Leagues.  It is probably equivalent in actual ability of the players to the Championship, but the winners do play for the Asian Football Championship which is close to the Champions League but for Asian teams and much less money even if the Saudis are involved.

In fact Urawa Red Diamonds won the AFC in 2023 and also in 2018 even though they haven't won the J1 League since 2006!

There is a J2 League immediately under it and a J3 League below that. The J3 league is probably equivalent of EFL2.

All Three of the Pro Leagues in Japan are playable with this year's version for the first time.

Manager's Thoughts

Complacency was starting to affect the team's performances, with players being distracted by interest from other teams amid takeover rumors. The team's strategy of shooting more to score may not always be effective, but it has been sufficient for them to lead the league. Toranaga faces a dilemma with two midfielders vying for one spot; the challenge is to keep both players and the team content enough to sustain the title challenge until the season's end.

The month would start with a visit from a midtable team finding form, but we were favored.

image.png.fd7b1db50b2824fdada5287401cb497f.png

Our loss was due to sloppy defending and goalkeeping. Nevertheless, with a bit of luck on the offensive end, we probably could have won the match.

image.png.2cde0a443e91e0a6ac12623aac61031b.png

We had seen our lead in the standings diminish due to a mix of misfortune and complacency, yet there were no excuses.

image.png.8ba59c1eb0cb918dee8917be728acf83.png

After the match at the presser, Toranaga complained about the team's inaccurate shooting......

image.png.65d5097a8153a5bd608cc6d9a1d1c337.png

The consensus among analysts is that we faced tough circumstances, but it was simply one of those days on the field.

image.png.3cde09e084444049f42363661f98e83b.png

With the onset of summer break and the transfer window, Toranaga is shaken by the unfolding events.

image.png.1fe6e3a4aaa53db2703c0ab635b0a45c.png

The news has sparked considerable interest in the team's players, who are finding themselves the subject of attention.

image.png.01fcc2abf960c58a07ba99ced83afefb.png

Following the defeat, Toranaga fielded a mixed team of players, comprising both starters and reserves, whom he felt were prepared to meet his expectations.

He almost felt sorry for the J3 Team.......

image.png.fbb5fdfd821be12f9c826418ad46fca6.png

It served as both a demolition and a morale booster.

We are now set to face a J1 team in a challenging match in the All-Japan Cup.

image.png.ba018f5ed8fe3931f23e114cffba3fb8.png

The final match of the month featured our team against Shonan in the second leg of our League Cup match. Toranaga fielded a mixed squad, including a 16-year-old goalkeeper, in compliance with the competition rules that mandate a U-21 player in the starting eleven.

image.png.8dd2faf7ad7c2c30f1991e40d407756f.png

A draw was all that was needed to advance and that is exactly what we got......

image.png.9a80ef1cac95e8f688f19758e15ac896.png

We had advanced to the Quarterfinals and were set to confront yet another formidable opponent.

image.png.0eb3218866cabf88a1ca1c5b00c07f5d.png

Toranaga's victory satisfied the board.

image.png.e0dc16188b40261193d7cea99c99ae8d.png

Tactically the main engine is the MCR-CAR-S on the right.

Toranaga has two players the starter Ito and the backup and Super Sub Bertagnoli playing the position. Statistically they are very different but complement each other well.

image.png.710470c26c8a577f8bcce7f9e74a4ae9.png

Ito is more defensive minded but Bertagnoli is the Shooting threat.

image.png.f2ba5ba9733723e81ab050f7aad86320.png

As you can see Toranaga has conundrum, but Ito is getting looks from Portugal.

image.png.c80c5a1a6dd078ecb1eb7a6aeddc2dfe.png

A Hall of Fame coach and former league champion has taken the helm of a team facing relegation.

image.png.15e0a29bce3f9916080b88bf81f24fab.png

The backup right-back will have to forgo his vacation.

image.png.f00389b02eec6af1249544d7a1098db6.png

As Toranaga mentioned, players were being swayed.

image.png.d5b2284ead20ddd79426e05351700134.png

This occurred subsequent to him proposing a new contract that significantly raised his salary.

July 2026

Manager's Thoughts

July featured just three competitive matches and a brief hiatus. Off the field, the temperature rose as the team began signing contracts with players from other teams for the upcoming seasons and made unsuccessful attempts to retain a star player. Despite these changes, the team has performed well, securing a solid lead as they head into the latter half of the season.

August 2026

Manager's Thoughts

August was a hectic month with six matches and numerous transfer issues. Toranaga focused on future recruitment while the team concentrated on current play. A foreign team's bid for a star player was turned down. Hoibraten's attempt at inciting a mutiny did not impact the team's performance, as they remained undefeated. Despite facing injuries, the team overcame these challenges. Holding the lead in the title race and having played most of their rivals, the team's task for the next three months is to continue delivering strong performances. Toranaga is optimistic about winning the J1 Title.

Schedule

Highlights

image.png.2275e4c64016586a977019f6fd317ebe.png

The month opened with a visit from Yokohama FC and we were comfortable favorites.

Unfortunately SH Port the Chinese Champions came in for our Vice Captain Hoibraten, Toroana refused the offer and tried to convince the player to stay and see out the promising season. He was mad and stirred up a mutiny just before the match.

image.png.7bba60d9a2a16b7807df30a941455003.png

Toranaga attempted to persuade them with reason. The team was performing well and on track for a title; it made no sense to rock the boat and weaken us just as we were entering the crucial part of the season.

image.png.26353efb170c63ba90c3538e001a2120.png

Securing a significant win against Yokohama FC, Nishikubo filled in for Ito and excelled in a new position.

image.png.fd697e7f2153cdd11cea81a830c29275.png

The next challenge for the struggling Niigata team was to face a squad with several rotations.

image.png.145952df62fdc193dd9180471a0b6669.png

Another significant victory for the team!

image.png.442eb564af16807d29481dbfc2b086d1.png

However, it came with a price... our key player is out for the remainder of the month!

image.png.ea6b5f1240dd9579e0d2b8368482d42d.png

The next match would be a visit from the current J1 Champions.

image.png.3b721e3a601a700a3458954ae09be597.png

The home team, Urawa Reds, was favored due to their recent form.

image.png.3a72a5fb41f255451c7edd0312ec3ca7.png

A close fought victory as the team showed its determination to win even though they gave up a late goal.

image.png.c4b795a09c98b434bd3313b427444cf1.png

It was yet another Pyrrhic victory; the team will be without our striker for a month.

image.png.cca85db359c868fc5e46e3d39297a690.png

Continuing to plan for the future, Toranaga has made a significant investment by signing a new goalkeeper for a record $5.5 million for the upcoming season.

The upcoming match is the All-Japan Cup Quarterfinal, with Urawa being the favorites against a formidable Fukuoka team.

Just before the match we lost the Rock of our defense Hoibraten.

Ultimately, the rotated squad capitalized on the situation and secured victory in the tightly contested match.

The next round will see us take on minnows Tokushima Vortis who upset Shonan.

Another board expectation checked off the list.

The final match of the month saw a visit from midtable Iwata.

That is the aim. I am amazed at how well the team is playing no real complacency and a bit of luck has lasted all season long. It is nothing I am doing tactically the only thing I can think of is that the rotation has helped keep performance levels up.

September 2026

Manager's Thoughts

The team continued its good play through the month of September winning the League Cup Quarterfinal and staying unbeaten in the League. This saw the team qualify for the Asian Champions League and build up a 10-point lead over second place. Toranaga finally began to believe that this was going to be the year Red Diamond fans had been waiting for since 2006!

Schedule

Highlights

The month of September 2026 began with a two-legged draw in the League Cup Quarterfinal versus Fukuoka.

The initial match of the series took place at Urawa Stadium, with Toranaga aiming for a strong start.

image.png.b367116ee5ceadee613337b2a2df2585.png

The match was a lackluster event with both teams reluctant to take the initiative. Urawa managed to score first, however, they conceded a goal due to a late penalty.

October 2026

Manager's Thoughts

As the team kept winning, the pressure mounted with each match, particularly when a Domestic Treble loomed as a potential achievement. Toranaga had his sights set on it, though he had not anticipated it being within reach this season and kept his doubts private. The team persevered, inching towards the J1 League title, only to stumble in the League Cup Final. Nonetheless, this season will be remembered as a remarkable one.

Urawa is set to confront their nearest rivals in the title race during the final, marking the first step towards a potential domestic treble.

This isn't a good omen......

We narrowly lost the final, but an academy player managed to score his first goal on his debut.

Early November 2026

Manager's Thoughts

This season has surpassed expectations, even with the team being somewhat of a dormant powerhouse. The comparison to Liverpool is fitting; a storied club that experienced a period of decline and required a dynamic manager to orchestrate a revival. The future looks promising, and competitors have been warned, yet it will require considerable effort to remain at the pinnacle.

Highlights

After the loss in the league cup final the team had to pick itself up and finish the job in the J1 League. Losing the final sharpened the minds and hearts of the team.

image.png.b79a348d23c10a9d2afb844fce527c29.png

The team that fatefully found itself obstructing destiny was the mid-table team from Nagasaki.

image.png.b1cf5f5673eb1b49d6d553dfcd10a469.png

Secure victory in the upcoming match and become among the greatest Urawa Reds teams of all time!

and we're scoring goals for fun headed towards another record!

We've won it! For the first time since 2006!

image.png.6098e2e96893d9a61386184c2c24a13f.png

We still have some distance to cover before we catch up with the leading teams, and FM25 will likely be released before we manage to do so.

From obscurity to Hall of Fame status in just three seasons, along with two league titles!

In the midst of the celebrations, a youth player was poached by the rival team, Kashima.

image.png.d1c709193e28869e81f8cf0c86d86474.png

I believe we can raise it with three matches left!

Toranaga decided this would be a good time to ask for a Coaching Course and Contract Extension.

This provides him with some cushioning in case the next season doesn't match up, as the team will be further challenged by the additional commitments of the Asian Champions League matches.

Late November 2026

Manager's Thoughts

The Title won you would think that Toranaga would sit back and enjoy it. That isn't how he is wired there were records to break and this team had the chance to achieve greatness. He wouldn't let complacency into the team. The Team played well in the two matches but was denied by the woodwork against Kashima. This has been a remarkable season and the team's offensive numbers have been eyepopping!

Schedule

image.png.0625c7b54bd8bb539fac3e5eefde4916.png

Highlights

The remaining matches were considered dead rubber, but Toranaga was determined to continue playing well for the fans.

It's evident that the team still had more at stake to play for.

Guard of Honor before the Match!

image.png.7e27b44cca1c03ad354f07173a85e8e2.png

Jun Nishikawa scored the decisive goal, securing our victory in a match dominated by "keep away" tactics.

image.png.6f91b530c954da20aa3928a67c7b761f.png

The next match, which was the second-to-last of the season, pitted them against their rivals, the Kashima Antlers.

image.png.2e881751120252c2c6921dfa6369ef57.png

The match would be challenging against the perennial title contenders and rivals.

image.png.73a5eaeb8c8f20e2195eea079d1efb9f.png

We didn't lose but should have won by the numbers......We hit the Crossbar/Woodwork FOUR times!

December 2026

Manager's Thoughts

The team finished the season with a flourish scoring the most goals ever in the J1 League. Then the awards came pouring in for the team and vindicated the season and their success. The problem now lies continuing to pursue titles and trophies as one of the "hunted" instead of being the Hunter.

Schedule

Highlights

image.png.bfcfdade06e2b95c25268c69f725c5f5.png

The last match was against an already relegated team.

image.png.2ee205bf94b54bb99da05d00cbc012bd.png

The team was on the brink of setting a new record for the most goals in a J1 Season. They needed just three more to achieve this milestone.

image.png.6ef73d3f1dd7cbe1509ed75c877c0faf.png

The team achieved the record, yet there was potential for an even greater number of goals.

I am going to end writing about this save because I am losing interest in it because tactically I don't have to do anything except make sure the players are healthy and ready to play.........

I have played into the next season and I won the ALL-Japan Cup and the Super Cup.......So I am holder of Three of Four Domestic Trophies........

I'll just leave this here:

It was a great season with Urawa and the next was starting well as well but I felt like I was going through the motions. School is starting and I won't have as much time to play.

So, my next career update will be during FM25.

I am going back to the first club I ever managed on FM14. When I knew nothing about the game or Football/Soccer in general. Fleetwood Town and see if I can promote them to the big time.

I have decided to revive this career. I will just be posting less frequently. I decided that I would continue to play the save as time allows and add mini-updates compared to the old image intensive ones.

First Half of the 2027 Season

Manager's Thoughts

The team started of the 2027 season strong after a good preseason. The Team had left off where they had the season left off with what turned into a 22-match unbeaten streak. A couple of losses to title rivals and then a confluence of injuries and schedule congestion led to a losing streak in the latter half of April. May came and the team was back at it and retook it place a top the table and should be a good bet to repeat as champions. It will be tough, but Toranaga thinks the team can do it. The only thing that Toranaga doesn't know is how Asian Champions League Football will affect the schedule near the end.

Schedule

image.png.b40759c034dc2e712b72adabcb681d1d.png

We began the campaign with a strong performance but then faltered against other title contenders. The losses at the end of April can be attributed to injuries and a congested schedule, particularly because we were facing Title Contenders and were unable to rotate the squad effectively. Additionally, Toranaga discovered that several team members harbor a fear of big matches.

image.png.e655d05c696089d5ce8d99643cf73130.png

May marked a return to form, culminating in a one-off against Kashima where the dread of big matches reemerged. The rival manager's mind games played a part as well. Subsequently, Toranaga seized the opportunity to rotate the squad and impose his style, leading the team to the top of the table by month's end.

Transfer Business

Toranaga might have spent a lot on his new goalkeeper, but he's effectively preventing goals.

and of course Massimo Bertagnoli is the MVP of the Team!

Thank You for reading. Please comment if you want.

Cheers! I have read everything and it looked good to see your career getting more promising especially in winning the J1 title! Hopefully, your next plan is to win the AFC Champions League Elite title as long as you might want to get a double or treble soon! Keep up the good work!

Thanks. I was worried it all looked too easy, but Urawa Reds is a big team and they already had good players. We are working on another J1 Title and playing Asian Champions League. The only thing wrong with the AFC is the miniscule money. $50k for winning a match and no money for making it.

Oh, I see. I think that the prize money for the AFC Champions League has been changed ever since they were rebranded as AFC Champions League Elite, which means that it should be updated with the new format being made. Unfortunately, it's different than how it was in FM due to the re-branding only taken effect in real life.

2027 Season Part II (July-September)

Manager's Thoughts

The team persists in their winning streak, pursuing a second J1 Title. The routine has become somewhat monotonous; we adhere to our familiar strategy, and our adversaries either confront us in the usual manner or adopt a defensive stance, often referred to as "Parking the Bus," yet we continue to triumph. Toranaga's primary goal is securing the J1 Title, and while success in the AFC would be a welcome bonus, the J1 League remains the priority.

Highlights

image.png.22fd9dd911aa0a8945072ee694f7fa37.png

In early August, we discovered the teams in our Asian Champions League Group. Toranaga isn't too worried and expects the backups to win the group in the additional games, allowing the starters to focus on the heavy lifting in the J1 League.

image.png.7e0c91e5b5df0599531d5a3c06d7a360.png

The analysts were keen to delve into the update, and as you can observe, our figures are comparable to the previous season. We're scoring slightly less, but there has been a slight improvement in our defense and shooting accuracy as well.

Toranaga has emerged from relative anonymity to successfully manage 200 games to date.

End of 2027 Regular Season

Manager's Thoughts

The season neared its end with a comfortable stride, marked by a consistent winning streak and just one setback. Toranaga, heeding the Assistant Manager's advice, held a team meeting before the match against Yokohama FC. Unfortunately, his words backfired, triggering the team's fear of big games. The nervousness was palpable, and their performance suffered. Despite this, we clinched the league title with an extra-time goal from our MVP, Bertagnoli.

Toranaga has laid the groundwork for a championship team and is eager to maintain dominance in Japan's J1 League and set sights on triumphing across Asia.

We're taking fewer shots, shooting with greater accuracy, and scoring more goals than the number we're conceding by a comfortable margin. It's no surprise that we're leading the league.
