natpatrat Posted Saturday at 10:58 Share Posted Saturday at 10:58 I play a 4-4-2 narrow possession tactic. I've noticed that my wingbacks lose the ball the most through crosses or dribbles down the flank. I'm guessing they resort to crosses/dribbles because they're lone wide players so they have little wide support. I give my CWB (AT) the instructions Cut Inside and Cross Less Often. It seems to be working, they're a lot less wasteful and score the occasional goal from a run into the box. What are your thoughts on this?
Poison Posted Sunday at 20:26 Share Posted Sunday at 20:26 (edited) I used to run a 5-2-2-1 in Italy and had the exact opposite problem, when they were moving towards the axle we kept losing possession so I've told them to dribble wide and everything worked like a charm. So my opinion is, if it works, it works. By the way iwbs will move towards the axle without the ball, so it's not the same thing, but I'm guessing you have understood that already Edited Sunday at 20:28 by Poison
