We qualified for the 2034 World Cup with New Zealand after beating Fiji in the World Cup Oceania Qualifying Round final over two legs. Really happy to see the progress and I am excited about participating in the next World Cup with this New Zealand side.

We lost two back to back friendlies against Paraguay and Uzbekistan in the November friendlies. Hopefully we can get our act together with this New Zealand side during the World Cup.

We played the March friendlies and the Peru game was our first victory for New Zealand in a friendly game as New Zealand manager. That is an embarrassing stat of not winning for nearly 4 years in friendlies that we managed to break. We also drew against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

What happened in Europe (2033-34 season)

We did extremely well with New Zealand in the 2034 World Cup. We made it to the Round of 16 where we lost against France. We had Japan, USA and Serbia in our group and we qualified in 3rd place. We also knocked Netherlands out of the World Cup. 

After I got eliminated with New Zealand from the World Cup, I resigned as New Zealand manager after nearly four years in charge. I thought it was the right time to leave and now I am looking forward to my next job.

I now have a new job. I am now the new manager of the Switzerland National Football Team. They and Australia approached me to manage them. And I chose Switzerland because they have a higher world ranking. They are easily the most high profile team I have managed on the save because this Swiss side are a side that won the World Cup on this save in 2026. A huge rebuild job is up and the plan is to stay at the job till the next World Cup which is in 2038. This is what the squad looks like. Also Germany won the 2034 World Cup on this save in the final against France.

Steady start for us in the Nations League and I am going to be shameless and say long may our unbeaten run continue with Switzerland. 4 draws in a row for us. We are looking for that first win but we look solid defensively with Switzerland.

I have decided to quit the Switzerland National team job just after 4 games in charge. Honestly I feared the sack and my reputation has increased a little bit after the New Zealand job. And I felt that even though the team that we had with Switzerland was solid, 4 draws in 4 games was probably not a good enough performance for a side that were 14th in the FIFA rankings. We dropped down a place to 15th. But I felt it was a risky job where I could get sacked easily. I wholeheartedly believe this is the right decision to preserve my managerial reputation.

I have a new job. And this is an emotional return. I am now the new manager of Monza again. After 6 years I have returned back to Monza in Serie A. I had great memories helping Monza survive relegation in Serie A and I am pleased to be managing the club for a second time. This is what the squad looks like. It feels great to be back to club football. Let's hope the second time goes better at Monza than the first.
