hilton210916
I would look to loan a few players look at the transfer list and you can generally loan all season paying no wages and no fee
boywonder9
Wage budget of 5k? Do you mean you're 5k under your wage budget? Sell or loan out all players who aren't Championship level to clear wages then target bosmans, loans, and transfer listed players at knocked down prices. If you don't have a parent club already, ask your board for one. If you luck out a get one of the big 4 you could get some big talent through loans. fujitsu
Well, I'm Millwall and I was in quite similar situation. I got promoted to the Championship. My wage limit was also £5K and transfer budget of £100K. Quite challenging? I started very poorly there, needed some time to accomodate to the Championship football. Pretty much I did what the people above have recommended. I signed a partnership with Arsenal, got Wilshere and Pedro on loan for the whole season and made some really good bargains on free transfers and transfer listed players. The key buys were Collins John (free, released from Fulham, though it took me 3 months to get him as he started the negotiations with £12K but didn't find a club and agreed to join me after significant wage cut) and Marco Di Vaio (£50K, transfer listed from Bologna, he was 33 but excellent as a short-term solution, in any case there aren't a lot good players that are interested to join you with £5K wage). It took them some time to accomodate but when they did, their striking partnership brought me some excellent results and a magnificent run in Fenruary-April, taking me up to the 6th spot. Well, I lost to Hull (0-1; 0-1), two injury time goals but completely outplayed but now things look quite promising - much more stability and better perspectives. Wage limit is now £8K and after some succesful transactions at the transfer martket I have now a budget of £2M. Look also in Scotland, at least there are some really good players (Chmp level) that might be interested as well. Got Chris Porter (striker) from Motherwell for free (end of contract), he has some excellent stats - finishing 17, composure 14, good flair, heading. Unfortunately, he didn't perform at his best, maybe I was not too patient with him at the expense of John and Di Vaio and sold him to Leeds for £1.5. What a shame! Now he is leading topscorer in the Championship with 18 goals, end of December, scoring against me...
