Administrators Philip Rolfe Posted April 27, 2009 Administrators Share Posted April 27, 2009 I should've clarified, yeah. Ressies 2-0 up over Spurs, ruining their season and crashing their six match winning run. Borini got the first, Sala made the second which was an own goal. Administrators Philip Rolfe Posted April 27, 2009 Administrators Share Posted April 27, 2009 Borini gets a second and they're down to ten now, Livermore straight red.

ubos
Big match against Barca, probably the most important match in our season. Can't see us stopping Barca from scoring but hope to clinch an away goal or two.
mag man
I am pretty excited. Anyone heading to Fulham to watch the game? Not sure if I am going to mission it over there yet.
Administrators Philip Rolfe Posted April 28, 2009 Administrators Share Posted April 28, 2009 It'll be a 3-3 draw.

mag man
Chelsea (from): Cech, Hilario, Belletti, Alex, Ivanovic, Bosingwa, Mancienne, Terry, Lampard, Ballack, Obi, Kalou, Essien, Malouda, Di Santo, Anelka, Stoch, Drogba, Quaresma. Clueless BBC including Quaresma...
Benoit2
2-2 is my prediction.

Benoit2
Have to wonder, why on earth did Lampard go off? Didnt look pleased either, understandbly.
bridgekings
Guess it was cos Toure was bossing it. Essien a little stronger/quicker. He was incredibly isolated.
mag man
He didnt look happy, had a quiet game by his standards. I think it was just a case of bring Essien inside to run around a bit more though.
Benoit2
I can understand the tactical aspect, but then take Ballack off (especially with his yellow). Unless he really wanted to keep Ballack's height on the pitch. Oh, and btw, Barcelona still havent beaten us 11 vs.
Administrators Philip Rolfe Posted April 28, 2009 Administrators Share Posted April 28, 2009 Have to wonder, why on earth did Lampard go off? Didnt look pleased either, understandbly. With Ballack and Mikel holding and Malouda and Essien doubling back to help the fullbacks he was absolutely isolated. Long balls went over his head to Drogba and he had no way to get into the game. Those were the tactics we needed to play though, so Lamps was essentially sacrificed.
bridgekings
Think this photo is a fair indication of how well we defended tonight: http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/domr/terrymessi412.jpg

neonexile
Thought we were exceptional last night. Lacked the drama of some of our recent outings, but we kept them quiet. Quietly confident we can put them away at the Bridge, but it's Barcelona, so I'm making no predictions.
Net Spend Tony
Poor game to watch as a netrual but great result if you are a Chelsea fan although think you could have got a goal and maybe won the game if you went for it as Barcelona looked frustrated after about 35 mins and although they have a great attack you have a great defence and Barcelona are vunable at the back and Drogba was causing problems. Chelsea done what they set out to do and now have a great chance of going through, can't see Barcelona keeping a clean sheet.
Skoolblowsme
If only Drogba got that one chance... But good result nonetheless, but all the pressure is on us now to get a victory.
bridgekings
Something just jogged my memory about Puyol last night. That late tackle where he clattered Malouda, causing him to get treatment on his back, that wasn't the tackle he was carded for was it? Although the commentators said it was. He had actually been booked for a tackle a minute or two previously to that I thought hadn't he? Should have been sent off iirc.

Still should have probably been a yellow. Not many people mentioning this, just the fact that we are anti-football and if we go through have destroyed the beautiful game. Administrators Philip Rolfe Posted April 29, 2009 Administrators Share Posted April 29, 2009 Team for Fulham at the weekend? Has to be resting key players surely? Our squad isnt as big as it used to be. It'd need to include some of them tbf. Hilário, Belletti, Alex/Ivanovic, Mineiro, Mikel, Quaresma, Kalou, Stoch, Di Santo would all fit into the second string list, forgetting the injured Deco, Carvalho, Ferreira and Cole. mag man
Yep. I wished youngsters got more playing time. This game doesnt count for much now so should give Mancienne, Stoch and Di Santo starts with maybe a couple of others on the bench.

Care Free
I think if we get a good assistant manager in, then i dont see why Guus couldnt do both jobs. Its political for Roman though, as its either the club or the country. But i think we should do all we cna to keep him.
