danodamano
Just interested to see who people would pick in their squad, If they could have any player in the game. So therefore, 25 Players (2 For each position, plus any extra 3 players of your choice). Bear in mind that it needs to be realistic that you would keep everyone happy, EG If you pick 5 World Class DC's, sooner or later someone will get ****ed off and want to leave, so bear that in mind, as well as age being a factor, EG you'd want some experience, some players in their prime, some in mid 20's and then some wonderkids etc. My team would be: GK. Iker Casillas (Without doubt, one of, if not the best GK in the world) GK. Hugo Lloris (Potentially best GK in the world, good Gk'ing attributes, young) RB. Sergio Ramos (Best RB in the game, and still only 21/22) RB. Javier Zanetti (Touch of experience, quite versatile, good backup) CB. Rio Ferdinand (Probably the best CB at the start of the game, natural leader) CB. Cristian Zapata (Great stats, and fantastic potential means he improves quickly, already very good) CB. Kolo Toure (Good at everything to do with Defending, can run, head and tackle, very able partner for Rio) CB. Mamadou Sakho (Potentially best CB in the game in later stages, very high potential, very young) LB. Patrice Evra (Along with Clichy, and Chiellini, one of the best LB's in the game) LB. Gael Clichy (Very young, already in top 3 LB's in the world, great potential) DM. Daniele De Rossi (Fantastic Leader, good all round stats, rock in the midfield) DM. Miguel Veloso (Young, great all round stats, very able backup for De Rossi) CM. Francesc Fabregas (Best passer of the ball in the game, good all-round Midfield Stats, still only 20/21) CM. Anderson (Potential to be as good if not better than Fabregas, good passer, dribbler, great backup) AMR. Lionel Messi (In my opinion best player in the world in RL, by far him and Ronaldo are the best wingers on the game) AMR. Mario Balotelli (Quite able backup, very high potential, great physical stats quite versatile) AM/FC. Sergio Aguero (Always a god on the game, scores for fun, amazing player) AM/FC. Sebastien Giovinco (High potential, quite versatile, great technical stats, very good player for the future) AML. Cristiano Ronaldo (Best player in the game, never scores below a 7.5 on my games, still not got as good stats as he should have, but fantastic all the same) AML. David Silva (Already bordering on World-Class at just 21/22, very good stats, good backup for Ronaldo) ST. Fernando Torres/David Villa (too close to call, both fantastic strikers to lead the line, and score for fun, still can't choose!) ST. Bojan (Young, already a fantastic player on the game, will score for fun in the future, great potential) And my extra 3 players would be: GK. Sergio Asenjo (Young enough, to not mind being loaned out/not used, potential to be a true great) Utility Player: Darijo Srna (Great Stats, can play each position down either flank, and could be used in the centre as well) MC, AMR/L/C, ST: Joe Cole (Great Personality meaning he won't get unhappy with being on the bench, good versatility and rounded stats)

theincrediblehulk
Tbh, the one thing about this game is that its ridiculously easy to keep players happy. I mean you just need to give them a game every other game and they wont complain. As long as you give each player around 25 games per season, they'll be happy. Obviously, playing that much in the whole season depends on your progress in the cup competitions. Anyway, my team (on 9.0.1): GK - Buffon (best GK on the game imo and good for another 4-5 years easy) GK - Asenjo (by the time Buffon is past it, he'll be world class) LB - Clichy (young and for me, the best on the game) LB - Mattock (develops into one of the best in 2-3 years) RB - Sagna (quality in everything he does) RB - Ramos (young and quality) CB - Chiellini (amazing CB and can cover LB too if needed) CB - Toure (the best quick CB on the game) CB - Sakho (decent to start and becomes world-class. Will take over from Chiellini) CB - Zapata (good to start and will take over from Toure in some years) DM - Essien (just quality in everything he does and is versatile) DM - Camacho (good enough from the start but becomes phenomenol in a few years) CM - Fabregas (the best on the game easily) CM - Witsel (not the best but still quality and very versatile) LM - Ronaldo (not tried him but I dont think its needed to determine how good he is) LM - Nasri (amazing when given high creativity and asked to get inside more. Scores loads) RM - Messi (same as Ronaldo above) RM - Walcott (amazing winger and plays awesome upfront. Impossible to deal with because of his pace. Versatile too) ST - Adebayor (still one of the best TM's on the game) ST - Aguero (young, quick as hell and great finisher. Perfect to play off Ade) ST - Bojan (good to start with and becomes amazing as well) ST - Vela (imo the best young ST on the game. Good enough from the start too) 3 extra players: DRLC - Nicolas Burdisso (not as good as on FM08 but still good and his versatility is great AMRLC, FC - Andriy Arshavin (great player and very, very versatile again) DR, DM, MR, AMR, ML - Emmanuel Eboue (surprising choice but he is actually very, very good on the game for some reason. And with his versatility is always a good addition to any squad)

theincrediblehulk
Hulk, what happened to Frey? He's not as good on FM09 sadly. I hate that tbh. And its also bewildering as he had a fantastic season last year and was widely regarded as the best GK in Serie A. And that's not easy to do with Gigi Buffon around. If yes, why? For me, it would depend how you want to play. If you want them to cut inside, then I would play them MR - Messi and ML - Ronaldo. If you want them to be more direct (ie, take on defenders and get crosses in) I'd have them play the other way round.

Anderrrrrrson-son-son
* = starters *GK Iker Casillas - best ‘keeper in the world and still got many years left in him. GK Vincenzo Fiorillo - great young goalie, future number 1 at any club in the world. *DR Maicon – solid defensively, great pace and crossing to give an offensive option. DR Davide Santon – great youngster and back-up to the all the right hand side. *DL Patrice Evra – see Maicon. DL Darijo Srna – great stats and can also play right-back and both right & left-mid. *DC Rio Ferdinand – class act, great composure on the ball. *DC Nemanja Vidic – best defender on my game, scores a fair few as well. DC Sergio Ramos – good player, young and gives another option at right back. DC Cristian Chivu – FM favourite of mine. *DMC Michael Essien – rock solid in front of the defensive. DMC Miguel Veloso – young defensive minded midfielder has an eye for a pass as well. *ML Lionel Messi – great player, can also swap wings with Ronaldo. ML David Silva – can play on the both wings and in the middle, better on the left imo. *RCM Michael Carrick – great passing ability, capable of winning the ball back too. RCM Andres Iniesta – tough between him and Xavi, but he’s four years younger. *AMR Cristiano Ronaldo – best player in the world. AMR Mario Balotelli – goal scorer and equally as good up top, ideal back up to Ronaldo. *ST David Villa – great finisher, best out and out striker around. *ST Wayne Rooney – needed to make up for Ronaldo’s work rate & moments of magic. ST Pato – best young striker on the game imo ST Adriano – different option, guarantees goals. Formation GK DR DC DC DL DMC RMC ML AMR ST ST 3 other player; Anderson – potentially one of the best centre midfielders there is. Ashley Young – good back up to both wings, great crosser and dribbler. Carlos Vela – technically great, young as well. Captain – Rio Ferdinand Free-kicks – Cristiano Ronaldo Penalties – David Villa Corners – Michael Carrick As you can properly tell, I like my winger to swop wings to add variation. Centre midfielders would be instructed to use short sharp passing. High creative freedom to allow the likes of Messi and Ronaldo to roam around the pitch. Hardy6
This is hard by the way, theres so many good players in the team and hard to leave some out but anyway here we go. GK. Asenjo (amazing, clean sheets galore) GK. Valdes (Still amazing in my barca save, every bit as good as asenjo) DR. Dani Alves (no brainer) DR. Sergio Ramos (not had him in my team yet but sure he's amazing) DL. Clichy (amazing in the game as an attacking option second to none) DL. Chiellini (can play left back or centre) DC. Rio (obvious) DC. Sakho (Best defender on game) DC. Pique (world class on my barca save) DC. Puyol (legend) MC. Fabregas (1 of the best in world) MC. Xavi (the other best in the world) MC. Iniesta (class in the centre, can be attacking aswell) MC. Veloso (overall stats are amazing, class at set peices) AMR: Walcott (speed is amazing and always gets loads of assists AMR: Messi AML: Ronaldo AML: Dos Santos (bit of a surprise but he is just unreal in my barca save) ST: Etoo (top scorer all 4 season in barca save) ST: Adebayor (played 30 scored 34 in arsenal save 2nd season) ST: Aguero (world class after a couple of seasons) ST: Bojan (scores goals for fun in season 4) subs Benzema (amazing player) Arshavin (my most creative player in season 2 wi arsenal) Ballotelli (not had him yet but stats are class)
JayHunt
My Team Would be, GK- Buffon Gk- Alder RB- Sagna/ Cant think of one. One of my 3 extras can cover LB- Evra/ Maldini - Evra obviously 1st choice but Maldini can tutor all young defenders for 12 months. Plus he is a legend CB- Vidic/Pique CB- Nesta/Jagielka- Had Jagielka in an everton game and he was brilliant helped us win the league DM- Essien/ Veloso- Both will play alot as going to pick very young back up CM CM- Fellaini/ Kroos- Fellaini is a beast and Kroos is potentially the new Ballack AMR- Messi/ Tabare Viudez- Odd choice i know but anytime i play with Milan Tabare looks potentially goog. Also wont complain about being back up at any stage AML- Ribery/ Arteta AM/FC- Berbatov/ Arshavin- The creavtive playmaker for my main striker ST- Benzema/ Pato- Young hungry and with-out the big ego's of some more established ST's My 3 back ups would be Vicenzo Fiorello Dan Gosling- Talented youngster who is versatile James O'Shea- Wild card galway united right winger. Ronaldo MC: Fabregas MC: Gerrard FC: Aguero ST: Adebayor That will, hands down, win you every match, that team has everything, it's scary.
danodamano
Here's the best IMO:GK: Casillas DR: Dani Alves DL: Gael Clichy DC: Cristian Zapata DC: Nemanja Vidic MR: Lionel Messi ML: C. Ronaldo MC: Fabregas MC: Gerrard FC: Aguero ST: Adebayor That will, hands down, win you every match, that team has everything, it's scary. Don't agree on some points with that. Firstly Clichy is much scaled down on the new patch, and Chiellini is the better option despite not being quite as good going forward. Also Ramos is almost definately better than Alves, considering Alves is only an "accomplished" RB anyway. If your going to play Aguero you don't need Gerrard in Midfield, as Gerrard largely won't contribute to build-up but be trying to get in the box to finish instead, and I don't like him Lol! I'd rather have someone like Iniesta or Hamsik to help keep possession in the middle. Finally don't agree on Adebayor, too hit and miss. I'd rather have Benzema (Season 3) or Bojan (Season 3/4) or Stick Aguero up top and have Vela (Season 3) In behind him, swapping positions. But agree on The CB's, Fabregas, Messi and Ron and Aguero. corpse89
Hey all, I thought it would be interesting to look at the database and see what was the definitive best eleven according to SI, and see how it contrasted to your best eleven, so here it is... ----------------------------------Gianluigi Buffon--------------------------------- -------Daniel Alves-------Rio Ferdinand--------Ricardo Carvalho-------Giorgio Chiellini Cristiano Ronaldo---------Steven Gerrard------------Kaka---------------Lionel Messi -------------------------Samuel Eto'o-------Zlatan Ibrahimovic-------------------- for players that had the same rating for a position aka Casillas and Buffon, potential was taken into account... I used Genie Scout to analyse the data base, as it provided an easier format to view... here is my best eleven -----------------------------Iker Casillas------------------------ -------Maicon--------Rio Ferdinand-----Pepe---------Patrice Evra Cristiano Ronaldo-----Steven Gerrard-----Kaka--------Lionel Messi -----------------Karim Benzema-------Fernando Torres------------ Although my team is a pretty rough idea, and full of pretty mainstream players, this would be my ideal team... So what's yours?
