Milan) Strikers: Marouane Chamakh Yoan Gouffran Fernando Cavenaghi David Bellion Star Player - Yoann Gourcuff Yoann Gourcuff (born July 11, 1986) is a French footballer who is presently playing with Bordeaux on loan from Milan. Gourcuff was born in Ploemeur, Morbihan, Brittany. Having started out with FC Lorient (then managed by his father, Christian) at a young age, Gourcuff signed a youth contract with Stade Rennais in 2001, followed by a professional contract two years later. Having been linked with a host of big name European clubs such as Ajax Amsterdam, Valencia CF and Arsenal F.C., at the end of the 2006 season, Gourcuff moved to A.C. Milan signing a contract to the 2010-11 season. He started his Milan career by scoring a goal in Milan's first UEFA Champions League match against AEK Athens. On May 31, 2008, Adriano Galliani revealed Milan would loan Gourcuff to FC Girondins de Bordeaux for the 2008-09 season, to allow him more playing time. Gourcuff has been one of the best players in Ligue 1 this season, producing moments of sheer brilliance such as this and this and has been dubbed "The Next Zidane" for quite a few years. Unfortunately, during my save he didn’t want to stay after his loan for me but he was absolutely brilliant and won Players’ Player of the Season. He has been capped for France at schoolboy level and was part of the winning French team at the 2005 European Under-19 Football Championship. He made his debut for the France national team on 2008-08-20 against Sweden. On October 11, 2008 he scored his first goal for the France national football team against Romania. Promising Youth Players(in order of their potential ability): Henri Saivet Gabriel Obertan Pierre Ducasse Gregory Sertic Matthieu Saunier Abdou Traore Team Analysis I'm not going to analyse the team for you, players you need to get rid of and/or recommend what players you should sign as that spoils the fun but I will tell you the positions you need to improve below. Areas to improve (in order of importance): LB CM/AMC RB/CB ST Why should you start a game with Bordeaux? -Good challenge to end the dominance of Olympique Lyonnais in France over the last few years. In real life, they're in 2nd place in Ligue 1, only 1 point behind Lyon! -Champions League football...how far can you get them in Europe? -The foundations for success are already there with promising youngsters such as Obertan, Gouffran, Saivet, Seric, Ducasse, Saunier, Traore, etc. That's all, fellas. I got some of the information from Wikipedia but there's a lot of my opinions in there as well. Hope you enjoyed it and start a game with Bordeaux! BlackPearl
Saivet is a world-beater For sure. I'm thinking of sending him out on loan in my save but teams want loan to buy. I want to keep him until big clubs come calling!

Diego Birtles
Valverde, who I think starts at Bordeaux in game, is Man. United's #1 on my current game, he doesn't look much but if developed he can do the business.

Wilson7
What do you guys think of Vincent Muratori from monaco 20 year old left back ? was also looking at mathieu iknow highly rated through out the lyon thread & possibly rod fanni for left back ? other people looking at are samba from blackburn , loric perrin & feghouli , going to try keep the team as french (includes french as 2nd nationality ) as possible maybe with the odd exeption with one or 2 players . also who is rubbish in this squad got around 17million to spend from budget changes ... hopey or purefun should reply usually do the french guru's
Lisandro Lopez
Rod Fanni is a right back? Vincent Muratori is fairly decent and he can do a job, not going to be a world beater. If you want another cheap MC who has French as his second nationality look at Adrien from Sporting. Meanwhile you should try and get Moussa Sissoko as he turns out very good and look at Cabaye as-well. Check out Dabo as-well, not sure if he was upgraded on 9.3.0 though to be honest. Chrétien should have French as his second nationality also.
Wilson7
i ment right back all this talk of left back in my head confused me lol which dabo is that ? & iguess thats youhan cabaye?
Lisandro Lopez
Dabo is at AS Saint-Étienne. EDIT; sneaky edit from you! Yes Yohan Cabaye he's at LOSC or Lille if you like.
Wilson7
im a big fan of cabaye will most likely sign him, think he is a good set piece guy in real life .. 7million to much for samba?
Lisandro Lopez
Probably just too much, what about trying for Squillaci or Bellaid? Failing that take a look at Rami (LOSC) or Bassong. Puygrenier maybe as-well? Or even Delpierre.
Wilson7
dont liek squillaci , bellaid might not join 1st season at frankfurt :/ is delpierre any good tho ?
Lisandro Lopez
Delpierre (Stuttgart) is fairly solid, he should look good on your save and is French so.
Wilson7
i got the samba deal down to 6.4 now .. think stuttgart want 9mill for delpiere to . just signed feghouli Edit again lol what about jeremy sorbon at stade caen ? i had him on a previous game and seemed quite good and cheap ,
Lisandro Lopez
Yeah Sorbon is decent, not that quick though IIRC? Samba for £6.4Million isn't bad so I'd buy him.
Wilson7
will sign him Chrétien's club are so stubborn they want 10million !!! trying to get the RB dabo think he most important to sign then maybe samba im not sure on a keeper to get :/ i wont have that much money Thanks for help hopey XD

Noni.
Just thought I would do an update- Transfers for the first season- First season was great, won the Ligue 1 and more importantly, THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. It was very very much by fluke, I had to beat Shalke (which I did, on away goals), then Liverpool (again, on away goals). United was my enemy in the semi's (Im a United fan so it hurt), but I thrashed them 3-1 at home and loss 1-0 away. Fair to say I was very, very shocked I made it this far. Fiorentina was my enemy in the final and I beat them 2-1. Epic win, got a hell of alot of money from it too. Unforunatly, I did not do well in the Cups, but hopefully that will change this season. My team for the second season-
Noni.
First team- Transfers- I was given a budget of £25M and got to getting rid of some of the more stagnant players. I'm currently working on a deal to get Sakho for £26.5M, looks to be done now. Milan is a regen goalkeeper that my scouts are raving about. He will be first team in 2 years (Currently he is 16 lol!) Any comments? I want a french, quality team .
Lisandro Lopez
Noni. Congratulations on winning the Champions League, that’s excellent work. I think you need better striking options if you want to keep it French why not look at Gignac?
Noni.
Hey Hopey! I dont really want to buy any strikers, Chamakh came through the ranks at Bordeaux and he scored 24 goals last season (top scorer in the League). Cavenaghi can step up at any time and Lavezzi and Gourffran are quality. Not to mention I have the little Saviet waiting to break through . I do agree that my strikeforce is the least "french" part of my team however .

That's fine, I like Chamakh so I wasn't meaning him more Gourffran I don't think he's that good in my opinion, anyway your choice. All the best though! BlackPearl
Hey Noni congratulations on winning the CL! I'm still in Pre-season, not sure what players to get. Clearing a lot of deadwood. Palermo and Rat have come in. More to come in - hopefully Defour/Witsel. Plus a RB. Will post screenshots in the coming days.
Noni.
Make sure you keep some cash for Gourcuff. Also maybe try for Barreto, hes versatile and quality. Chalme has been solid for me, try looking at Schwaab if you want to buy one though.
BlackPearl
Decided to keep Chalme in the end. Looking to get in Semih Senturk. Witsel has also arrived. Pre-season is going well so far.
Fabregas18
Hey guys! BlackPearl
How much did you pay for Witsel? £5.25m. Would have prefered to buy Defour as well but Standard Liege want too much for him. Unfortunately at the start of the season I made a lot of panic buys...Martin Palermo especially. Here are my transfers for the seasons - including the January transfer window. Robbed Lyon with Planus! Here's how I'm doing in the league. Surprised by how poorly Lyon and Marseille are doing:
BlackPearl
Won the league just about with 6 draws and 1 loss in my final 15 games. Unfortunately made early exits in the cup but I have bought Mathieu and Capoue for next season to provide me with more power. Transfer window time now. Will keep you posted! boomheadshot45
Okay so I started a game with Bordeaux. Sadly, I've suffered 3 big injuries: Chamakh (5-7 weeks), Wendel (4-5 weeks), and Rame (3 months) The Rame one is huge. But so for I've gotten Pandev on loan, trying to get Marquinhos, trying to get Ivan Ivanov (good cheap CB), and I got Albin Ekdal for CM, but the transfer goes through July 1st 2009!!! I had no idea it was going to go through next year, I'm guessing it's on his contract at Juve that he can only leave after 2009 or something. I'll post all of my transfers when the season begins and they're all finalized. HoPey, I'm playing your Lyon formation that I stole when I read the Inter thread. But I'm having a tough time getting Gourcuff to play well. I know he creates chances for others more so than for himself, so I have him like this: FWR mixed, RWB often, LS mixed, TB often, CB mixed, free role, high CF, and a high attacking mentality. But he just isn't doing so well. Any advice?
Purefun
Isn't that Ekdal loaned out in the first season?

boomheadshot45
Yeah I have, and I'm using Gourcuff in the AMC position.
Lisandro Lopez
Lower his mentality by a few notches. Or put him as the playmaker in the team instructions and tick the player maker option.
boomheadshot45
Thanks, here's an update Transfers I know I already have Pandev on loan, but I wanted to bring in Laurito for after this season. I wanted a better AMR, so I brought in Buonanotte because he's going to be cutting in and hopefully scoring more than he is crossing. Ivanov was just a great deal. Only 825k and he has a PA of 160 . A big improvement over Henrique. Squad/Tactic Buonanotte will eventually be in the AMR position. Saivet will sub for him, Jussie (who is usually in the ML position), and Pandev. Buonanotte will also be my only back up for Gourcuff, as will Pandev. I'm going to mostly rotate between Pandev and Laurito. I just need to find a way to get Pandev the ball more often... I know I spent a lot of money on transfers, but I kind of had to. But I'll end up winning Ligue 1, and I'm fairly confident I can get pretty far into the CL (Semis). I play Valeciennes my first game, so I'll update you guys regularly.
