mattowls Posted January 16, 2009 Share Posted January 16, 2009 I found this Russian Striker whilst playing against Saturn in the UEFA cup with Newcastle. He scored a hat-trick against me so i sent my scouts out and they reported back saying he has the potential to be twice the player of Owen! I kept him on my shortlist and made a couple of cheeky bids but due to my lack of tranfer funds i couldn't afford the £7m asking price. I am now manager of Sheffield Wednesday and due to a takeover i have brought Yurchenko to hillsborough for £7.5m Very similar type of player to Pogrebnyak, he has played 19 games for me and has scored 17 goals.I only had him for half a season! Yurchenko - 7.5m, the reason I won my 2nd CL, his goal just before halftime in Bernabeu where I was 3-0 down gave me hope and also clinched CL with a late winner in the final. sherica- Posted January 16, 2009 Share Posted January 16, 2009 a versatile striker that can play almost all attacking role. pretty fast and decent strength. good dribbler. poor in the air/decision/positioning which is biggest weakness. guess would work well off a target man. This doesn't mean he is twice the player Owen is or anywhere near it. He has only scored 4 goals in the last 13 games on his save. In 2009 he played 26 and scored 10 I then bought him for Sheff Wed for £7.5m when i was in championship. played 19, scored 17 Got promoted with Sheff Wed, 2010-2011 season, played 35, scored 17 Got relegated with Sheff Wed, now in 2011-2012 season half way through, played 15 scored 10 I say Not bad!
