diabolicpanda
Hello all I'm Playing as Morecambe with a highly ungelled squad in League 2, and thing are going pretty well: http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu13/diabolicpanda/League.jpg I'm playing a pretty basic 4-5-1, as I have the best midfield passers in the division, pretty decent wings, a good targetman (tall and quick), but a pretty shabby central defence: http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu13/diabolicpanda/Tactic.jpg On the fullback side, I feel I am pretty good off but not getting the best out of them (to say it least). Defensively they are performing A-TRO-CI-OUS. Both sides of the pitch are more or less a highway to my byline. Whenever an opposition winger gets the ball the fullback closes him down (good), but lets him slip down the line to whip in a cross more or less every time. The fullbacks are simply defending too narrow (often picking up a striker!!!!), leading to the winger already being on his way past my fullback when he gets close to him. I tried to man mark wingers and show them on to weaker foot, which has helped a bit, but not nearly enough, and anyway I don't feel I should be needing this with the fullbacks I have for this division: Right: http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu13/diabolicpanda/McMenamin.jpg Left: http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu13/diabolicpanda/Threlfall.jpg All conceded goals (except from the odd one following a set piece) are either from poor marking by CD's (acceptable as they are by far the weekest point in my team), or, most commonly, from tap ins (often by unmarked winger) following a cross from an unmarked winger (not quite as acceptable). Currently I play my fullbcks like this: http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu13/diabolicpanda/Fullbackinstr.jpg As for team instructions I as a basis play: normal mentality direct passing normal to quickish tempo normal width D-Line: 6-10 (due to poor central defenders) Any help would be highly appreciated
Columnarius
I don't have the answer but I have the same question. Why are fullbacks letting so many people either go by them (and spending their time being the 2nd or 3rd guy marking a striker in the middle)? Is it a question of width because it seems to happen regardless of how wide I set team settings.
