mckissock
14/1/06 Daily Record Morton savage foolish Celtic Morton again pulled off a shock against one of Scotlands big two, against Celtic for the second time in two seasons. Celtic lined up with 3 accross the back 4 in the midfield and 2 up top with 1 between the midfield and attack. the 4 midfielders averaged at an age of only 19 with debuts handed to Dunphay, Millar, Quinn and Bjarnnson. Up front was Craig Beattie and another debutant McGlinchey and the 3 at the back consisted of Mo Camara, Steven McManus and Stan Varga, the selection was later labeled a "huge mistake" by Gordon Strachan who appears to have again failed to learn about the underdogs teaching Celtic a hard lesson. Morton combated this perfectly with 4 at the back 1 defensive midfielder 4 midfielders and 1 striker. Billy Jones was the defensive midfielder who nulified the attacking midfielder Quinn of Celtic's threat through out the 90mins. Steven Hislop combined superbly with right winger Andy McLaren to open the scoring on 37mins with a neat one-two and a cool finish into the bottom corner. For the second goal Hislop, who has been the subject of a bid from Leeds and Lazio, through balled for Andy McLaren to make it 2-0 returning the favour. At this point Celtic were worried and through on 3 big players, John Hartson for McGlinchey, Zurawski for Quinn and Thompson for Wallace. Thompson lasted 10mins before scything down Morton new boy Darryl Duffy as he went through on goal - a straight red card and from the resulting free kick McLaren netted the 3rd and killer goal a wonderful free-kick. McKissock later criticised Strachan for his line up and went on to say that he should consider his position not only as manager of Celtic but as a manager in football if he cant show respect to lower teams. mckissock
27/5/06 Daily Record Morton steal European spot!!!! Andrew McKissock got his tactics spot on today in his teams 3-0 win over Kilmarnock. Morton halted Kilmarnock playing with a 3-2-2-1-2 formation and on the counter, and after holding out for 68mins, Morton pounced, breaking from a corner they went 1 ahead Hislop with the low drive after a through ball by Hart. Hart who has been feeling jaded recently had a tremendous influence on the game and scored a great second on the drive from outside the box in the 85th min while Kilmarnock had just switched to a 4-1-5 formation they were hit with a sucker punch. Morton rounded it off again on the break when Hislop scored a low shot after the keeper saved a Hart shot but failed to hold. mckissock
Manager and player of the year Manager of the year ---------------------- Andrew McKissock - Morton Player of the Year ---------------------- Richie Hart - Morton Exclusive Interview with McKissock!!!! Daily Record - Andrew what a season!! McKissock - Yes, the team has exceeded all expectations it has been magical. Daily Record - Did it ever occur to you that you would be promotion challengers this season, let alone in europe at the end of it? McKissock - In all honesty no. I felt we would be perhaps mid-table at best and at Christmas it looked that way, but with the January signings it changed alot. I felt we brought in 3 already fantastic players and a player who will be fantastic in Billy Jones. Duffy and Kenwyne Jones are especially the ones who helped us through. Kenwynes versitilaty and Darryls goals were a fantastic help. Daily Record - Any truth in the rumours that Kenny Miller is on your shortlist? McKissock - Well i'd like a player of his calibre but i dont feel i will be able to get him if we made a solid offer, i think we need to consolidate our place in the SPL, perhaps top six or perhaps sneak back into Europe again, somewhere along those lines before we can attract players like him. Daily Record - Finally, you are a year ahead in this 5 year plan of yours, what do you intend to do now? McKissock - It is vital we consolidate and keep one year ahead of schedule. If we drop down this year we are technically one year behind schedule because we would be back in Division 1.

mckissock
Broadfoot first of Morton transfers Kirk Broadfoot was spotted pulling up to the Morton training ground today after signing a 3 year deal with the Greenock side. Morton spent 300k bringing in the Scotland u21 captain who looks to have a bright future in the game. Kilmarnock fans were fuming at the management for selling him but what was their loss was Mortons gain and they have gained a valuable aquisition. mckissock
Pair leave Morton after termination Maurice Mendy and Shaun Molloy have left Morton having their contracts terminated by manager Andrew McKissock. Mendy turned in a few poor performances after being signed last season for the right back slot and was soon dropped. Molloy failed to make an impact on the first team following his move from Queens Park almost two seasons ago. It does seem though that these two will not be the last two leave, reports are that players such as Darryl Duffy, Steven Hislop, Ben Foster and Billy Jones are being watched by top SPL and Championship clubs that are ready to test Mortons resolve. mckissock
5/8/06 Daily Record No start of season stumble for Celtic Morton gave a good account of themselves as they went down 2-1 to celtic and parkhead. The visitors had more than 6 good chances in the opening 12 minutes but failed to beat David Marshall who was nothing short of outstanding for the 1st 20mins. As Celtic weathered the Ton's storm they broke quickly and netted the opener through Maceij Zurawski, a fabulous strike from a quick break. Darryl Duffy should have scored from 3 yards out as he headed over but the killer blow came 8 mins from time as Chris Riggot netted the 2nd low from the edge of the area. Stefan Moore came on and looked lively and as Morton broke he netted a neat curler past Marshall to set up a nervous finish but Celtic survived and took all 3 points.
