FM finest
I am in the year 2015 with my beloved Liverpool and i need someone to help Agger and Skrtel. Peope say that Chiellini is good but he is worth 15m and they probably wont accept an offer under 25m, which is a large price for a 30+ year old. What stats make a good CB apart from the Obvious Tackling, Heading and Positioning?
chaos2k8
concentration is important aswell. and I presume heading and jumping go hand in hand.and all the ones you've mentioned aswell. The the rest are a bonus I think.
AlexNFFC
It's also important they have a bit of pace about them...they don't have to be lightning, but quick enough to at least try to keep up with the oppo strikers. Height is another thing to think about, the taller the better
wrightinio
Marking has yet to be mentioned, surprisingly. Bravery, Anticipation, Teamwork, Work Rate and Strength are also important IMO.

Bragenca
i would also say Pace and Long Shots

Height is another thing to think about, the taller the better I missed your point before - height has no direct bearing on the game. It's a purely cosmetic thing in-game. It is taken into account when deciding a players' ability to jump however, but the actual figure means nothing, so I've read on these forums.
arsenal_2111
From the GPTG FAQ: XIX. What are the most important stats for various positions? In Football Manager, all players have attributes, rated from 1-20. Some of these attributes are more important than others for certain positions. For example, for a centre back, finishing isn't normally very important, wheras tackling is. Of course, there are some other attributes that could be important for a player, but the following are the main attributes needed to be a very good player. Position Vital Skills Other Skills Goalkeepers Positioning Throwing Command of Area Pace Agility Concentration Stamina Composure Jumping Bravery Reflexes Anticipation Strength Decisions Ariel Ability Centre Backs Positioning Stamina Jumping Anticipation Tackling Determination Marking Pace Aggression Acceleration Strength Bravery Heading Full Backs Work Rate Determination Stamina Strength Teamwork Crossing Decisions Dribbling Positioning Acceleration Defensive Midfielders Tackling Pace Strength Passing Aggression Acceleration Marking Determination Stamina Concentration Work Rate Creativity Team Work Decisions Attacking Midfielders Decisions Stamina Creativity Teamwork Passing Flair Off the Ball Long Shots Technique Pace Finishing Acceleration Work Rate Wide Midfielders Crossing Finishing Creativity Long Shots Dribbling Team Work Pace Work Rate Acceleration Off the Ball Tackling Balance Technique Passing Centre Forwards (FS) Creativity Team Work Flair Balance Finishing Long Shots Off the Ball Anticipation Dribbling Crossing Passing Technique Pace Acceleration Strikers (TM) Finishing Pace Off the Ball Aggression Jumping Acceleration Heading Strength Anticipation Long Shots Tecnique
TPA
Stamina vital for goalkeepers?
wrightinio
Stamina vital for goalkeepers? Good point, that's a strange one. My 'keeper hasn't got great stamina but it's still rare that his condition is ever below 95% going into a game.
chopper99
Also, pace for a GK? I could understand good acceleration being a bonus so that they can rush out quickly, but pace is surely not in the least bit important. Also, concentration is not mentioned for centre backs. For me this is one of the most important characteristics for a top class centre back. Apart from that, cheers for posting that Arsenal as it looks very useful. Nomis07
Creativity wouldn't be somethign a CD needs, perhaps a sweeper, but not a CD.
Johnyboy
yeah very seldom though...Times when they are under pressure and they need to clear the ball is the most effective way possible...a sweeper i definity agree with
