JEinchy
There probably is, but I'm over the wage budget and I already have to pay £250K a month paying back a loan. I'm signing United's Sam Hewson on a season long loan to add some numbers. Also drew Sunderland away in the League Cup. Hopefully I won't get thrashed. Walsall away next. Preston_Kid
He should do well, how many loan signings are you allowed? a tend to get a lot of loans from tottenham, they have a lot of youth that are willing to come down a few divisions!
JEinchy
Try looking in the Good Player and Team Guide forum Cullen93. Might be a few threads in there that might help. I can't remember how many loans, tbh. I'm not even sure if there's a limit. In any case, I have 4 players on loan enough. Should be sufficient. abdulqadir
Celso Borges - Costa Rican AM C looks pretty handy. I just signed him for Sunderland.
Preston_Kid
Celso Borges <--- looks a great player! I've just started a season with the local team Morecambe Football Club 40k to spend and a decent wage budget, its looking good for a 6am finish haha OK jEinchy let me know how your getting on! Preston_Kid
any seen the new feature with arranging friendlys on FM10, it gives u all teams that will accept your friendly so if you are a smaller team you can set up matches to make about 100k in pre-season...ive got aberdeen, tottenham, flumienses (sp?), west ham and some russian team ive forgotten the name of. I think its quite a useful little change!
abdulqadir
I like how the supporters' spokesman now doesn't just give feedback on the result but on who they felt should and shouldn't have featured in the starting line-up. Nice touch that.
JEinchy
Played 3, won 3 with each game ending 3-1 to us. A brilliant start so far.
Preston_Kid
Yeah i like thta too abdulqadir, bit more realistic! jEinchy, thats top draw...im getting smashed 5-1 by West Ham at home its all about the cash though!

Wee Aja
My latest result. Final pre-season friendly, a friendly cup final against Recreativo: I felt sorry for them tbh
Preston_Kid
haha oh im sure you did, id love to beat anyone 1 - 0 let alone 12! tottenham are beating me 6 -0 in a friendly at the moment...the money is keeping me sweeeeet
Wee Aja
It won't last mate, my next match is the Premiership curtain-raiser against Man United at Old Trafford. We've blitzed all our opposition in pre-season, including a 5-0 thumping of Parma. I'm willing to bet my bubble is about to be burst by something along the lines of: "Do Man City have a right to feel aggrieved there?" You know? I 'dodgy' (clearly) offside goal or some such nonsense.

Hershie
Thought I'd ressurect this thread from the ashes. Friday night with FM. Anyone up for it? Do you think we should start a new thread for us all-nighters once FM10 is out for real? Would be a new revitalised approach. I'll be back for sure.
Grecian_03
Yep, I'd go for that
JEinchy
Sure, why not? Of course educational commitments will prevent from doing an all nighter every night, but weekends and days off I'll be here. Now for some reason, I can't seem to get into an Arsena save on FM10 . On the other hand, I'm loving playing as Southend. It'd odd.
Hershie
It's a date. I'm playing repeatedly as Everton in preparation for http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=155181
JEinchy
It's official, my defence sucks: Also, has anyone seen Simeon Jackson? A complete beast! 17 finishing, 17 composure and the Places Shot PPM. No wonder my defence couldn't handle him. Still can't believe we threw away a 4-2 lead.
Hershie
\o/ for Willy Topp.
JEinchy
14 goal in 18 games But not as impressive as Lee Barnard. 18 goals in 19 games.
Hershie
Most impressive strike record I've had by anyone so far on the demo was 24 in 27 by Tim Cahill.
JEinchy
Barnard's my most impressive so far. He played for me for six years in my FM09 Southend save - all the way to the Premiership where Ken Fagerberg eventually replaced him (beast in his own right). But blimey, that's a hell of a record for a midfielder.
Hershie
Was playing him as a Traquartista. Still is very impressive. Only on one save though; the rest I've got nowhere near.
JEinchy
Ah, one of those things. I was slightly confused when I saw that role. My second choice strike pairing of Dougie Freedman and Francis Laurent doesn't inspire me with confidence...
Hershie
I've very very rarely played more than one up top so far on FM10. Just isn't my thing. I still don't get all the roles tbh. Trial and error.
JEinchy
It's hell trying to decide which role is best for Fabregas. He's good at defence and attack, and has the stamina to perform both so keeping him as a regular Centre Midfielder seems good, but he can also be a Deep-Lying Playmaker and an Advanced Playmaker... and could do well as a Box-to-Box midfielder as well. It's quite annoying. I can't play with one up front. Has to be two.
Hershie
I find I always have strikers who are too similar, and end up being dominated in midfield. 4-5-1 ftw. I'd try putting Fabregas deep and maybe make him run from deep more, perhaps.
JEinchy
I had a partnership of Eduardo-Vela and Vela-Saivet, all similar strikers, and both yeilded 50 goals+ (although Vela was God). With Southend, a slightly similar partnership of Lewondowski and Fagerberg also produced a fair few goals. I see where you're coming from, though, since it doesn't seem right to me either playing Vela and Eduardo at the same time. This Bristol Rovers side is being very stubborn.
Hershie
I may have to give it a go. Everton have Yakubu, Jo, Anichebe, Vaughan and Saha. All fairly similar really.
JEinchy
Turns out I lost to Rovers. Oddly enough, the defence played excellently and the attack was *****. Yet what stumped was that in the fans reaction report, it read "Lee Barnard bore must of the critisicm, and most believe that Dougie Freedman should have played instead." This is the same Lee Barnard who had 18 goals in 19 games and the same Dougie Freedman who has yet to score in 3 games. Makes sense... I think Jo and Vaughan would be your big man strikers, so one of those with the Yak, Anichebe and Saha would work I think. Yakubu is well rounded enough to play alone to good effect though. Hershie
I've gotta get to grips with the Everton side to have any chance of success vs the OTF lot.
JEinchy
Route one football would work well with Everton. Lots of heading ability. I've actually decided to base my tactics around my team this time and have adopted a more physical approach with Southend, since they have a very strong and gritty midfield. Lower Leagues Rule
Hey guys, long term reader of this thread, but I am a first time poster, thinking of an all-nighter tongith on FM, probably my last one before FM10 comes out. I am playing as AD Fafe in the Portuguese Liga Sagres, the year is 2029, and I am just heading towards the start of my 30th year in charge. Our All-time top goalscorer is about to leave after over 400 games and 241 goals, now I am attempting to gain back my Liga Sagres title after dropping to fourth in the last season. (My game has Portugal only loaded)
Hershie
I've decided that too. Leave creativity to the creative players, let the strikers be up there to score, and stay tight and simple at the back. I've been playing more direct, but I could never bring myself to play route one. So unlike my philosophy.
JEinchy
Good to have someone else on board Out of curiosity, are you doing a European variation of dafuge's challenge? ffs, my defence is shocking for some reason. Tieing 1-1 with Yeovil and then they decide to leave their striker completely unmarked for him to score the winner. And Barnard was shocking. Two losses in a row now :/
Lower Leagues Rule
Yeah its currently called "JoseRR's Big Euro Challenge" Originally chose Fafe as they wear Yellow and Black like my home town teams, but then found out they were a former top league team for a single season in 1988/89. Been a great game I have had.
JEinchy
Right, got MK Dons next who are five point below me in the league in second. Quite a big match and hopefully my strikers remember that you have to put the ball in the net to win matches.
Hershie
My player's ability to score seems very inconsistant. Pienaar scored 3 in a friendly vs AC Milan, then none for ages.
JEinchy
Typically, we go 1-0 down after Barnard misses about three sitters. I don't understand how a guy with such a brilliant goal to game ratio could miss so much...
