briancloughisthebest
First of all I wanted to find out what would happen if I got a random manager put everything at 20, put him in charge of a club in every division and watch as events unfold. Next I want them to be in charge of an English club outside the top 4 teams in that division or at the top teams in europe When all 7 managers have retired the experiment ends. So I looked at the teams in the English league system and the teams I have chosen are Man City, Blackpool, Huddersfield, Luton, Altrincham , Harrogate ,Dorchester Roma and Villarreal How will the managers do in charge of there clubs Find out... soon. briancloughisthebest
P.S Any tips at all I will be very pleased with
m1234566778
Interesting idea. How frequent will the updates be?
briancloughisthebest
I'll try to be as frequent as possible. So the updates aren't too quick I'll not go on holiday and follow man city the entire season
hamilton162
I reckon that you should put managers in charge of a club in every division in England from the EPL to the BSS/BSN and see how they do compared to each other
briancloughisthebest
I reckon that you should put managers in charge of a club in every division in England from the EPL to the BSS/BSN and see how they do compared to each other Yes that's a very good idea. The experiment will be a lot more organised that way. In that case the clubs the managers will be in charge are Blackpool, Huddersfield. Luton(big task ahead there) Altrincham ,Harrogate and Dorchester
m1234566778
Good idea Hamilton162:). That would make it more interesting.
hamilton162
Put some in charge at top level clubs and some at bottom level clubs and see how well they do as well, that will spice things up a bit more. What leagues will you be loading and what PA and CA will you give the managers?
briancloughisthebest
Since they will attract a lot of interest I'll load the English tier system and all the top flights of the big leagues and the CA and PA is 200 (why this experiment is called perfect manager) I suppose I could do a mix of relegation battlers and promotion/title chasers
m1234566778
Why not also put them in charge of a top division club from major European clubs. PS grats on the promotion see you next season Hamilton
hamilton162
Indeed Maz, see you at the GS and AP
briancloughisthebest
Why not also put them in charge of a top division club from major European clubs. PS grats on the promotion see you next season Hamilton I could do that (Y)
m1234566778
Indeed Maz, see you at the GS and AP Yes I'll be coming down to Adams park aka the shed lol. Be prepared to loose ha ha. Should be good banter between us two.
hamilton162
Certainly isn't the shed mate I would classify Dagenham and a few others as sheds. And we might be getting a new stadium in a few years time to accommodate the demand for Wasps tickets Expect 20,000 or more
m1234566778
You'll be blown away by our ground. 25,000 all seater, under soil heating. And a grand piece of architecture.
brambleten
sounds like a good experiment idea [y]
PaulHartman71
interesting idea, if you can present it fairly well then it will be interesting. Elsewhere, why is there discussion going on in this thread completely irrelevant to the OP's Experiment?
hamilton162
Sorry Paul, will get back on topic now I blame Maz for starting the off topic conversation
m1234566778
Sorry, thought you'd have something to say about it.
PaulHartman71
the help you were giving the OP was good and can only be encouraged, it's just that when you start a new thread the last thing you want is people to start talking about things non-related to the Experiment, as it leads to people forgetting the reason the thread was started and talking about the OTF stuff. hamilton162
No problem Paul, will get back on topic from now on and continue my off topic conversation in PM format mate
briancloughisthebest
Just loading up the game:) I'm hoping that i didn't mess up the database and everything is as it should be:D I'm going to do a monthly format although months like June July etc. will be with August. Predictions anyone?
hamilton162
Which clubs have you put the managers at? I shall make predictions once i know. Perhaps we could do a prediction league alongside the experiment to make things more interesting
briancloughisthebest
The clubs are Man City Blackpool Huddersfield(only just noticed Maz supports them so he better do good:D) Luton(very interesting) Altrincham, Harrogate. Dorchester Villarreal and Roma
hamilton162
Whoops, didn't realise that you edited the OP. Here are my predictions: Man City: 4th Place Blackpool: 8th Place Huddersfield: 2nd Place - Promoted automatically Luton: 22nd - Will miraculously avoid the drop out of the FL Altrincham: 10th Harrogate: 4th - Promoted Via the Playoffs Dorchester: 6th Roma: 3rd Villarreal: 3rd
hamilton162
You could have chosen Wycombe Mate
briancloughisthebest
You could have chosen Wycombe Mate What when Luton have such a greater challenge:D Anyway couple of days in and there is already bids in for players and players being released
brambleten
im no good with predictions, but i'll have a guess at the clubs i do know: Man City 3rd (with a good manager and good signings, and the fact that they dont seem to need to gel on 9.3, i reckon the could challenge for the title) Luton: 23rd ( i reckon the 30pt deficit will be too much, and will drag them down. the manager will jump ship if a premiership club calls.) [not just for this season] Roma 2nd (they'll fight with inter and juve for the title, but miss out) Villarreal 4th (they wont contest for 1st of 2nd, so they'll fight for 3rd but miss out) i also predict that i will be wrong on at least 1 account

~Ian~
What's been done to try and ensure managers stay with their selected clubs? Surely with the high CAs they'll be instant targets to be poached by the top sides. Long contracts and high loyalty would probably be a good idea.
hamilton162
And set the clubs as favoured clubs as well, that would help

briancloughisthebest
So the season has started and the managers get to show there clubs what they are all about. Even with these good managers though There has been a mix of fortunes for all clubs. July and August 2008 Man City As you can see Man City have bought the same players as they usually do so so far no change in usual transfers. Whatever the manager is doing must be working because with wins against Sunderland Everton and Wigan Man City are top. Their top goalscorer Vagner Love has 3 goals to his name. Meanwhile a easy second qualifying two leg affair with Bellinzona put them through to the first round of the Uefa cup. P.S.Any helps with these posts would be grateful:)
briancloughisthebest
Blackpool Blackpool have decided to make a small profit so far this season with spending 300K on 5 players while selling two for 375K. In the league it's an ok start but the lack of wins puts them low down. The club have done well in the league cup, beating Grimsby and Bristol City and now face a third round tie against Arsenal.
briancloughisthebest
Huddersfield Huddersfield have started well and are already looking like serious promotion contenders. They have only decided to bring a loanee in but they've made a decent profit from selling. They won their league cup match against Bradford and now face a second round match against Man City.(I didn't do the draw:D)
briancloughisthebest
Luton Luton have started well and if it wasn't for the point deduction they would be top. They've still got a long way to go though. Unfortunately for them they are the only team that has been knocked out of the league cup so far this season.
briancloughisthebest
Altrincham Altrincham have spent nothing and sold nothing but have still managed to get hold of two players. In the league they are doing ok winning 2 drawing 3 losing 1.
briancloughisthebest
Harrogate Harrogate have made the start that they would have wanted. They've only got two loan signings who are both from Leeds. Harrogate are one of the teams expected to do well this season so 4th is no surprise
briancloughisthebest
Dorchester Dorchester have also relied on loan signings. This team hasn't done as well as the other teams and has only won 1 of the 5 matches played. They was predicted to finish low down though so we shouldn't be too hard on them, should we?
briancloughisthebest
Roma We can't really tell yet what Roma's season is going to be like. They loaned a few players out lost in the super cup and won their first league game but that's it. The Italian league starts later than the others so we will get a better look in the next few months.
briancloughisthebest
Villarreal The same is with Villarreal who have only played one game, winning comfortably. They have got rid of some dead wood though So to conclude July and August 2008, I'd like to say that everyone hasn't got the same good start and that the team might have to have time to gel. brambleten
looks good. the only problem is the PNGs, which seem to take forever to load. maybe sacrifice a little detail for the faster loading of a JPEG in future? depends what everyone else things
hamilton162
I've had the same problem. It takes about 5 mins for all the pictures to load Do them as .jpeg next time as then the page loads in seconds
