Season 2020-2021 Summary
Decided to start a save with Leeds after watching them play against Newcastle, Manchester United and West Brom in December and just fell in love with the style of football.
All out attack.
Anyway, just finished my first season and finished 3rd in the league, level on points with Liverpool (82pts) who finished 2nd and 5 points behind Champions Man City (87pts).
My team scored the most goals in the league with 118 and conceded the joint highest amount of goals with 82 - same as 20th place Newcastle.
Transfers
None in or out.
Pleasant surprises
Jack Harrison - gave me real balance on the left hand side of the pitch and pops up with vital assists. An old fashion winger who hugs the touch line. Was trying so sign Daniel James from Man Utd to replace him but he doesn't want to join and could cost a fortune. More than happy to sign Harrison for £10m on a permanent deal.
Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas - these two hard-working full backs are crucial to the way my team plays. Both reliable and solid 7/10 performers each week.
Disappointments
Helder Costa - 14 appearances, 0 goals, £16m wasted. Will look to sell in the summer.
Goals (EPL)
Rodrigo - 38 Apps, 38 Goals and 13 Assists
Bamford - 37 Apps, 26 Goals and 14 Assists
Klich - 37 Apps, 18 Goals and 12 Assists
Raphinha - 38 Apps, 11 Goals and 11 Assists
Harrison - 29 Apps, 5 Goals and 10 Assists
Phillips- 29 Apps, 2 Goals and 8 Assists
Alioski - 30 Apps, 4 Goals and 5 Assists
Dallas - 32 Apps, 2 Goals and 7 Assists
Koch - 35 Apps, 3 Goals and 0 Assists
Llorente - 38 Apps, 3 Goals and 2 Assists
Ayling - 29 Apps, 0 Goals and 7 Assists
Meslier - 38 Apps, 80 Goals Conceded and 7 Clean Sheets2021-2022 Summer Transfer Window and Squad Update
I will be looking to bring in a striker, a left winger, right winger, attacking midfielder, left back, and a back up goalkeeper.
Am looking to bring in a few big hitters but will mainly look to sign youngsters who will play back-up to the first team as I'm happy with the first eleven.
I will also promote a few players from the under 23's squad. There's a few gems in there.
I will sell the following players:
- Casilla
- Hernandez
- Costa
- Roberts
- Cooper
- Forshaw
- Poveda
I will keep the following players:
- Shackleton - will retrain him as a right back.
- Struijk - a young versatile left-footed central defender or defensive midfielder. A useful player to have in the squad.
- Alioski - A useful squad player, who is a great back for Dallas or further forward Harrison. Great mentality and tough as nails.
I will promote the following players from the Under 23's squad to the senior squad:
- Kenneh
- Jenkins
- Gelhardt

Will update with the 2021-2022 season results in due course.

For me is even worse, as to get fully immersed in my game, when I take over a team I also research a lot in internet about it.
I read the Wikipedia about the team, about the city, search for articles about the tactics used in the current or last season, search for articles about the players, visit social media and forums about the team, etc.So when I start playing, I’m almost a fan of the team in real life.
I have started a save now with Crewe Alexandra and I’m already a fan of the team and I bet I know more about it that some long time fans and can discuss about the lineups etc in fan forums.
I do the same.
Yesterday I made a list of teams in notepad that I wanted to be as a first save. I usually have a look at the The Guardian as they have a few articles on teams who are overachieving in the european leagues. ex. La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A, Bundesliga, etc.
I discovered that Rennes have some really good young players from their academy, a good manager and a billionaire owner.

Here are a few more articles on Sassuolo & AC Monza, owned by former AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi.

Peterborough United
- Siriki Dembele is joint top scorer along with Jonson Clarke-Harris with 6 goals each. His finishing stats are too low. Should be 14 minimum. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/peterborough-united/top-scorer
- Flynn Clarke is primarily a central attacking-midfielder, a number 10. This season he has scored 3 goals in 3 games in the EFL Trophy. Has scored a few long range shots this season. Longshots needs to be increased and finishing as well. https://www.worldfootball.net/player_summary/flynn-clarke/eng-efl-trophy-2020-2021/peterborough-united/3/
- Ronnie Edwards is primarily a central defender. His heading should be higher, somewhere around 12. His determination of 3 is way too low. Needs to be increased. He is very mature for his age and his potential ability of 3 stars should be 4 stars. He's a potential Premier League defender in the making. Minimum Championship at the least. Ronnie Edwards agent is Barry Ashby, not Roger Middleton. https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/football/peterborough-united/peterborough-uniteds-legitimate-move-barnet-player-triggers-tug-war-and-complaint-fa-about-agent-2935539

Peterborough, Wealdstone or Brentford.
Most likely Wealdstone just to look at the new features, test tactics, etc. Then a long-term save at Posh or Brentford later on.
So excited.

Peterborough United.
They have a young squad of really good players plus money in the bank from selling Ivan Toney to Brentford for £6.5m plus £3.5m in add-ons which will reach £10m in total.
**Ages of players of when the start date for season in FM... not real life ages.**

DEF - Copping (19)
DEF - Mensah (17)
AM - Tasdemir (20)The four strikers Peterborough have in Clarke-Harris, Dembele, Eisa, Jones should score goals for fun at League 1 level.
Be interesting to see how Ronnie Edwards turns out. 17 year old centre back brought from Barnet in the summer. The Peterborough chairman / El Presidente is calling him 'Franz Beckenbauer'.
With the club building a new stadium by January 2023, this should be an exciting save. They have based the new stadium on the Groupama Arena in Budapest, the home of Ferencvárosi TC.

Yussuf Poulsen from RB Leipzig is amazing in that role. He has got 19 Workrate, 16 Teamwork 17 Pace, 18 Aggression.
For me he scored loads of goals and provided assists to Werner. Then went to Liverpool for £55m.

ST - Jones (16)Will be fun to see if I can replicate the teams performances in real life, in the game.
The attacking quartet of Eisa, Toney, Maddison and Dembele will score goals in League 1, to hopefully win promotion to the Championship + Premier League but only if the owners don't sell are best players in FM.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Will also be interesting to see what the 'club vision' is, as the owners have said in real life;
“We’ve set the Academy staff a goal for three graduates every year to be good enough to be taken on at first-team level by the year 2024. It is a demand if you like. If they are not producing three players every season then they are not doing their job.”
Also the chairman Darragh Macanthony has set objectives for this season;
* Promotion and the League One title.
* Fantastic football for our fanbase.
* Excellent home record.
* Complete the purchase of the stadium.
* Smash 5.5k season tickets sales when they go on sale again in February/March.
* 120 goals scored & 25 clean sheets.
* Golden Boot winner.
* Three players in EFL team of year.
* Manager of year trophy.
* Checkatrade Trophy.
* See another youth graduate play for England Under 20s.
* Two strikers to score 20 league goals each.
* Continue growth of new fans through fantastic schools initiative.
* See our under 18s go deep in the FA Youth Cup.
* Turn down a £5 million plus bid for two of our players in January window (it would mean we are having a fantastic season).
* Smash all our commercial targets.
* Average 8k home gates.
* Go through January without signing a player (also means squad doing its job).
* More facilities at our training ground.
* Take all players/staff away to Vegas or the Bahamas to celebrate a successful season.
* Pay for all non-football staff to have holidays with their families at the end of season for doing their bit.0

A suggestion for a cheap left back who is first team material is Fredrik Andre Bjorkan (22) from Bodo/Glimt. He costs between £1m - £2m.
The only problem is the new brexit rules where he requires a work permit. You can sign him and loan him out to meet the work permit requirements.
