  1. Cheers mate! Make sure you keep going with yours. So close! Just get into those small countries with short seasons for the cups Haha!
  2. Just away from the completion.... I rode my luck to complete Serie A!
  3. Challenge Completed!!! From the outskirts of Budapest, through the harbour city of Kiel......dabbling in the south of France, the north of Spain & the delights of Munich.......ending my time fearing for my life in Lazio because I wouldn't sell players! I had some mega luck with joining some teams when they were in such good positions for trophies already. I also didn't have to spend too long in South Africa, which was such a pain in my previous attempts. The Bilbao job being a particular highlight of mistakes during the challenge! Got to make sure those rules are read before committing to a team/league.
  4. I think it may have been the only Nation stint where I've genuinely celebrated results!
  5. From the highs of World Cup glory......to the uncertain times of administration! First of all.....appreciate the love from the Australia post! Only 2 more trophies to get! But following my departure from the socceroos, I applied for 3 Italian jobs..... Inter Milan - Rejected me. Hellas Verona - I rejected them. Lazio - Joined! Without knowing the financial peril that lay before me. I joined Biancocelesti in December 2046 with them sat in 11th in Serie A. What I didn't realise (Don't think there's a way to tell exact figures prior to joining), is that they were £90 million in debt. "Finances = Okay". But we plowed on. Finishing 5th in the league when the expectations were to avoid relegation. Not bad! I should add that I didn't really read the rules around transfers too well and signed 4 Argentinians that i couldn't actually register. Onto the first proper season with Lazio and a summer of transfer mayhem. Even with the huge debt, I was still given transfer funds to spend. I had to go wild to build a team that can challenge and bring some money in! Couple of bargains came in after I made sure they weren't classed as foreign players. What the transfer outgoings don't show you in the screenshot, is that I had to loan out 2 of the Argentinians for this season because I would have to have sold 2 foreign players the season before, to be able to register them. Something in which I didn't understand.......and didn't do. The current season has started well... Until..... Wage budget-wise.....I'm smashing that! But it means very little in the grand scheme of things. I'm not sure what this means for me. Will I be sacked? Will a takeover occur? Will there be a points decuction? Will I resign? Another rule I wasn't aware of.... Great.
  6. Unthinkable achievement that doesn't matter! I took on the Australia job ahead of the Asian Cup in 2047, but had to hope I didn't flop during the world cup and get sacked...... Challenge Progress
  7. Challenge Update - 26/32 trophies collected. Real San Sebastian I very rarely do a mid-season update, so here's one to mix it up! Currently sitting in 2nd. Losing away to Barcelona 2-1, drawing away to Real Madrid 3-3 and losing away to Atletico 1-0 pinpointed where I need to improve the squad to be able to turn those draws/losses into wins. Registration rules limit the overall wage budget to be no more that £2.4 million a week. I have two players on £300,000+ p/w that I need to shift on at the end of the season. One is 29 and a right midfielder, which I can find a replacement for with ease. The other is a left midfielder (below), but he is just fantastic! So I may just sack off the one player and leave Mr Castelo. I highly doubt i'll win the league this year. But I may get the spanish cup if I can hold on to the 4-3 lead. I still need to dip into Asia, along with my Italian and Spanish venture, so a long way off completing the challenge!
  8. Golden Arrows & Colombia This update spells the end of the South African leg! 2 full seasons with Golden Arrows has allowed us to tick off a league, cup (first season) and the African Champions League! The Champions League was pretty easy. But the league and cup had me in moments of rage before getting winners in the final minutes of the games.....too many times. For the first time in FM, I actually agreed to join a team at the end of the current season! Bit of a risk, but I agreed to join Real San Sebastian. They current have a smaller but top notch squad, finishing 7th in the league, with UECL qualification for that extra income. They have given me 80m to spend, so I'm looking forward to the fight of beating the giants to the title! Unless that Barca or Real Madrid job becomes available.....then it's a challenge after all. I decided to stick with Colombia until the world cup, which is about to kick off. No pressure for this challenge, but I think I could get far with this great team! Then I can only hope that an Asian nation becomes available. Challenge Progress
  9. So I rejected an offer from Valencia in the end. Waited a few months and joined Sydney FC. They were in 3rd place in the league... Just picking up another league title with ease/luck/flukiness! After comparing my team with the previous winners of the Asian Champions League, I decided to leave Sydney after 2 months. Great manager ey! I then joined Flamengo and got lucky again! League, cup and Copa Libertadores ticked off! The board expected me to win them all, so it wasn't like I did anything special. The league was pretty much wrapped up already, we were a good 8 points clear when I joined. I'm still Colombia manager! Challenge Progress.....
  10. The North American venture comes to an end! Nearly a clean sweep, but at last I've picked up the US Cup and North American Champions League now. I applied for a job in South Africa, but they wouldn't wait for me to finish the MLS season and I fancied winning it again. But I've just had an interview with Valencia, who sit in 11th place in La Liga. Quite fancy that challenge at the half way point of their season. I have actually picked up the Columbia job after the world cup (I was hoping for Brazil as they went out in the group stages). But Columbia have some awesome players that will put me in with a great chance of winning the Copa America! Challenge progress = 18/32
  11. Bosh! NACL/NACC won! Actually easier and quicker than I thought it would be! Kept pretty much the same team from the season before, with a couple additions through trades and handing over a lot of my draft allocation money. Challenge progess - 17/32
  12. Houston Dynamo Well.....PSV came and went! Finished 2nd in the league, but picking up the Dutch Cup. Then the end of the season meetings came around, which resulted in the chairman instantly putting us into £20 million of transfer debt, even though we had £60 million in the bank. RED. MIST. DESCENDED. I wasn't having it. Having to sell my players to allow me to buy, when I had 18 points to make up next season on Ajax. Normally i'd love that challenge, but that is not the challenge here! So I ditched them. Sod the league. What followed was something that can only be described as pure desperation as I applied for 9 jobs. Every interview had that "You appear to be in the running for many jobs" question. Not your business Mr Interviewer! I'm in panic mode! Santos and Houston offered me jobs, so I looked into Santos' team and they were so aged! I wanted a quick win, not 3 season re-build. So I joined Houston......in one of the most complicated leagues on the game.....make that make sense. Hello 3 season re-build! 2036 was here....Houston sitting just outside the playoffs...I got into the playoffs....and lost in the first round. The off-season allowed me to re-build, whilst constantly buying down contracts and trading for international slots! Literally gave away all my picks in the draft, but are there ever good players in the draft? A tactical switch from 4-1-2-2-1 to 4-4-2 midseason, managed to change my fortunes massively.... I'm going to stay with them and try to win the NACL, I'm predicted to make the semi final, so cross everything! I'd like to pick up the US Cup too, but we'll see. Challenge Progress
  13. How progress changes in a flash! I was unemployed for about a month. For some reason, the Nigeria job came up ahead of the Cup of Nations. Naturally I took it.... Job done! Left Nigeria shortly after. But..... I did pick up the PSV job too! Joined them when they were sat in 4th place, 5 points off top. First 7 games have been positive to say the least.
  14. Progress Update! Following league and cup success at Porto, I then went and won the Gold Cup with Mexico (Pretty easy going). I'm now unemployed and waiting for that November time when managers start getting sacked. Strangely, the end of June didn't chuck up any managers going out of contract or moving big clubs. Fiorentina being the "biggest" vacancy - I didn't want that job. I have a feeling that this may be the time when years are added to the challenge without progress being ticked off. Partly down to the fact I forgot to add further leagues to help during the off-season. Challenge Progress.....
  15. FC Bayern & England Did someone ask for a clean sweep? Wellll..... That's the Bundesliga & DFB-Pokal ticked off! We are currently £151 million in debt. But I find that issue is evident with any team in Germany really. The income just isn't there! Making a loss every month and the expenditure isn't even that big. The AC Milan and Porto job has just come up, so both have been applied for! Now I have the world cup to try and win. Currently ranked 2nd in the world with England, so I've got a pretty good chance. Hoping whatever happens, I can snap up a job like Brazil or Argentina afterwards. Depends if I win the world cup or not. If i do win it, then that opens up U.S.A, Mexico and the Asian countries. Will the world cup be my 10th challenge trophy?
  16. Brief Update Still England manager...... Just left Man Utd after winning the Champions League & Club World Cup. Hoping to start that manager merry-go-round! The favourite for the job is the current Bayern manager, so here's to hoping. The annoying thing is that I had some great youth players coming through at Man Utd and I wanted to introduce them into the first team more. Luke Williams being one.....gave him his first team debut against Norwich and he did this.... Challenge progress Update to the Update.... Got the Bayern job after their manager joined Man Utd. Perfect!
  17. @skills Getting close-ish mate! Jealous of you getting in and getting out of that South African league Hate it every year.
  18. Man Utd & England Just realised I haven't updated since Marseille & Ivory Coast.... Well, as you may have seen, the world cup didn't go to plan & Ivory Coast sacked me. After that World cup ended, the normal mass exodus of managers occured, to which I applied for about 10 jobs. Only 4 came back with offers though, luckily England were one of them. Fats forward 2 years and I won the Nations league and Euro 2032! I've very much got an aging squad now, so I need to introduce younger players in time for the World Cup 2034. After Marseille, I actually joined Bilbao for half a season. Not realising that they have the Basque region transfer law. That massively limited me in the transfer market obviously, so I quit at the end of the seaon after guiding them a 3rd place finish. Man Utd were searching for a manager, alongside Arsenal so naturaly I applied for both and Arsenal didn't want to know. More fool them!! I've just completed my first season with Man Utd and won the league and FA Cup. They had finished 8th the previous season, so no european football but a transfer kitty of £200m+ was always going to benefit me. I love a good clear out at a new team, this one didnt disappoint! Now i'm into the second season with Champions League football, I think I should be able to go far. Maybe asking a lot to win it first time round, but we'll see! Challenge progress.....
  19. Marseille & Ivory Coast After finishing 7th in my first crack at the Bundesliga with Kiel, Marseille came knocking. That team i couldn't say no to! The team were well set up to have a go for the title, along with having so much dead wood that I could sell and make some money for transfers coming in. £71 mllion coming in through sales, then £138 million outgoing through replacements. The Champions league didn't go to plan - getting knocked out in the round of 16. But this happened..... Followed by..... Then I look at our finances and see £60 million in the red. Time for me to look for other jobs i reckon As i write this, the Liverpool job is insecure...... Somewhat luckily, Ivory Coast don't have a manager heading into the world cup which is hosted there. Can I bring World Cup glory to the hosts? I think we all know the answer, but i'll pretend I have the backing of everyone here Challenge Progress.....
  20. Holstein Kiel - 2027 - 2028 Well, i finally got out of Hungary. Landed in Budesliga 2 with Kiel. A team with consistency of finishing in the top 8 of that league normally, but had found themselves bottom of the league and looking for a new manager. After joining in November 2026, we managed to finish the season in 8th which was well above what they expected. Mission success! Then came the second season, where there was only one position i wanted....TOP. First half of the season....Results were there, but I was sitting in 4th and couldn't close on Kaiserslauten & Nurnberg. Second half of the season.......with a little tweak to the tactics, we managed to turn the draws into wins. Final league table Now i'm going to make a go of it in the Bundesliga (with £2 mill in the kitty), unless a job comes up that can't say no to. Challenge Progress Merry Xmas!
  21. There's only one way i can start this update.........TOYS WELL AND TRULY OUT OF THE PRAM. This is how the league goes....every year. No matter what upgrades i make, Ferencvaros make better ones. The owners won't allow me to go on coaching courses becaue they need me at training. I can't win And this is how this current season is going...... If you look at the below closely....you'll see the very game where I snapped. Lol! I've started applying for so many jobs. I want out of Hungary. ASAP.
  22. Here we go again......Trying for that third spot on the HoF! Soroksar FC in the Hungarian second division is where i've landed for my first job. 16th in the league....in the need for a managerial genius! They've settled with me for now. Started off alright to be fair! Got no money...wages are in minus. Bring it on!
