Quick question (since I couldn't find any information about it). My manager became known for "paying close attention to youth development". I was wondering what exactly triggered that?

A couple of points.
As I already pointed out, IRL, when a player only got 1 of 6 attempts even just on target, nobody would say "I need more data." The manager would simply never ever let that dude take a penalty again. And practically everybody would agree. Maybe even the player himself. (Unless his controversy is very high.)
Also, of course I took into account that there are more attributes involved than just penalty taking. That's why I posted the screenshots with all attributes. And in every single relevant category, according to HUNT3R, Tiago is better, often much better. Yet he's the worse performer.
If you really need more data, I simulated two more seasons, one with Tiago and the other with Peñaranda as penalty taker:
Even though Tiago did a lot better and Peñaranda a lot worse than in my game, Tiago is still worse, although by a small margin.
The poing of all this is rather simple. This is one case of many in all the iterations of FM I've been playing where - and keep in mind I'm talking about long-term performance, not a single match - the information provided by the game is pretty much useless as a basis for decision making. One could just as well roll a dice.

You have 4 factors to consider here. Penalty Taking, Composure, Pressure (a hidden attribute) and Body Language. In general too, there's less pressure on a player taking the penalty if you're already 3-0 ahead but at 0-0 in the 90th min, it's a different story. Same with the type of match. 3rd Round of the FA cup will be different to a CL match, for example. One puts a lot more pressure on a player than the other.
Thanks for the reply.
Since I'm a thorough t*sser, I went back and checked the pressure values. Even there Tiago is significantly better (17 to 10 of Peñaranda), still the worse performer.

Numerology : those two screenshots were taken before the start of the 2020-2021 season. How much time was needed for that team to get at least 14 penalty kicks ? At least an year, I presume, Or even more.
When I decided to post about it, Tiago had already left the club. Hence I loaded an old save for the screenshots.
So what's your problem?

Your sample size is tiny.
Bonus points for cleverly avoiding the buzzwords. Significant malus for being way too close to them.

[... a "Community" reference.]
Since FM is essentially a numbers game, let's have a peek at some of those pesky numbers. Here are two players from my CSKA Sofia save:
Just for kicks I also looked up their consistency. They both have the exact same value which is 11.
Now, before I continue, please ponder how well each of these players actually performed at taking penalties. Take your time...
...
Done? Alright, here we go:
- Peñaranda performed well, converting 7 out of 8 penalties.
- Tiago Rodrigues OTOH only converted 1 out of 6! Once he hit the post. 4 times he completely missed the goal, 4 times out of 6!
The question for today, class, is how in the living hell do we get from the attributes to the actual performance? Answers may not include buzzwords like "completely random", "bad luck" or "statistical anomaly". IRL 0 out of 2 may be a statistical anomaly. 1 out of 6 would be considered incompetence.
"Okay, so break into groups, and then, you guys quiz each other."
[Picks up phone and ignores the class until the bell rings.]

Same problem here in the Serbian league. Tried to move this guy (to Partizan's first team):
The workaround does seem to help. Just wanted to report and share the save:

Look for "Provides Youth Development Information".
3 hours ago, SazoJohnno said:You can change that in the staff responsibilities.
You can find that by going to responsibility > Advice and Reports then change the "Provide Youth Development Information" to HoF. This should make it so that intake information come from HoF, not DoF.Thanks, everybody!
That wasn't hard to find, at all... To me "Advice and Reports" doesn't mean "Bringing in Youth Players". But that might be just my problem...0 -

Given the current intake issue, I thought you're making another ranting post
In hindsight the title does sound a little ranty...

Possibly stupid question. Is there still a way to choose who's responsible for youth intake, as in e.g. FM19? If so, I just can't find it.
As background for the question, yes, I do have a Head of Youth Development. But the intake report came from the DoF. Hence the confused yellow face.

Thanks to the German league for being so one-sided for someone to notice! That looks to have been there for 2-3 years.
Glad the millions involved - one way or another - in German football, could be of help!

Also, in a different game - but within the same installation, same settings - there was no problem to upgrade. No idea if this is useful information. Just wanted to let you know anyhow.

Hmm, no worries, I'll see if I can recreate.
We DO have a few issues with friendlies logged, just not sure about this exact one. Yeah, if you do get it again... you know where we are Cheers!Well, there you go. Different game, same issue:
Of course I didn't try every possible combination. So, for starters, this is an away game against Grünwald (nearby team) at 09/15.

Hey @davewolf thanks for raising
Do you have a save handy before the 3rd (the friendly date)?
Unfortunately the closest save I still have, is a few days later, when it seems to work again. If the issue comes up again, I'll have to remember to post the save right away. In any case thanks for the reply.

Thanks for raising this guys.
It seems like it probably isn't a coincidence that all of you are playing in German language, so I wonder if it's a translation issue.
Please forgive my lack of German, is the description for the new status clearly worse than the old status?
Yes, it's 5/8 before and 4/8 after the "upgrade".
I tried switching all settings to English, then make the request. But the result was the same.

No looks like this means - 'since 1964', not 'in 64 years'
Nope. The last time this team won the chamionship was in 1957. This is 2021. You do the math.
(I do check things like that before posting.)
Also, even if you were right, the text would still be faulty, since years don't get displayed as two-digit numbers. At least I haven't seen that yet.

[German] Issues in German Translation

Posted · Edited by davewolf
This might be a translation issue. If not I don't know where to put these minor reports. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Obviously the title is wrong. Man Citiy lost on aggregate, but not the home match.
