  1. Hello, I'm having an issue with my match screen. I don't know how this happened but the original match screen for this great skin has changed to this. I have removed and reloaded the skin in-game as well as deleting it from the folder and adding it back but nothing is bringing back the WTCS match screen. Any ideas what I've done wrong and how to get it back? When I try to click the touchline tablet on the bottom right nothing happens. Thanks.

  2. In my fourth season in my save and I've recently took over Sheff Wed in the Championship. Previously I managed Oxford City in the VNS and VNL and then Plymouth in League 2, both teams of which I utilized the Director of Football with good success.

However at Sheff Wed whenever I go to the DoF section under transfers it's the chairman who is the one offering transfer suggestions when prompted instead of my DoF. I've had a look in the staff responsibilities and can't see a way I can switch it to my DoF.

I don't think it's a bug, but it's something I've never seen before and I'm just curious if it's something implemented into the game for certain chairman where they wish to be the all seeing eye, so to speak. Cheers!

Glad to hear its working well for you. I am working on a newer version will update the post if i make it better.

It's hit and miss in higher league Football for me. Lower league it's a killer tactic and you can kinda be less choosy with the players you bring in as long as they fit the role by having most of the right attributes. Any fast striker is likely to ruin defences in non-league.

I'm currently managing in the Danish Superliga and it's really inconsistent. Don't get me wrong, we're in the hunt for the title with a team that's realistically mid-table in terms of talent/media expectation, but there's zero pattern of how well we're going to play week in and week out. I think at this level it's way more crucial to be more picky with the types of players you have for the tactic to really work.

I think it's also important to look at player preferred moves as well. Having a playmaker in midfield who likes to dribble the ball often goes against the tactical plan of the ball over the top towards your fast wingers and strikers, for example.

  4. Great tactic in the lower leagues for sure! Two promotions in three seasons with Alfreton and I left them 2nd in League 2 to go to Derby in the Championship.

Unfortunately at Championship level it's been an absolute disaster. I think the tactic deserves more time as there are some issues with the team but the results have been horrendous and it feels like the tactic plays a lot differently at this level.

FF Jaro - Ykkönen (First Division) 2016

My first (proper) attempt at this challenge! Starting in the second tier of Finland may not be the most ideal way to begin this challenge, but it's a country I've never managed in before so I thought, why not? Finland's domestic season begins in March with Suomen Cup games with the league starting in April and finishes around September/October. I didn't take the FF Jaro job until the beginning of September with only four games of the season left. FF Jaro had been relegated from the Veikkausliiga (Premier League) the previous season for the first time since 2001, but instantly started the 2016 season as favourites to win the league and go straight back up. However, the club's bizarre inconsistency left them in 9th place out of ten with just four games of the season left, with the bottom two positions being relegation spots. Being the pre-season favourites for promotion, I saw this as an opportunity to end their turmoil and deliver on their expectations, as long as I could keep them up first and foremost! It was a risk with only four games left to save the club from a disastrous relegation, but I knew if it could be done there were players here who could help lead this club back into the Veikkausliga.

One look at the squad at I was a little baffled as to why they'd had such a difficult season, although for some reason the club's best player Simon Skrabbe was on loan at Gefle IF, a second tier Swedish club. With a preference for a more creative type forward being a part of my approach, I very much look forward to bringing him back for 2017, but first and foremost I had to keep the club in the division! Our first game came away to fellow strugglers Tammisaari and we picked up a 2-1 victory, the club's first win in six games which immediately moved us out of the relegation spots. Our next game was a difficult one away to FC Haka who still had an outside shout of finishing 2nd in the league and we gifted them two goals before picking up a consolation. We remained in 8th, but then suffered an infuriating 2-2 draw against mid-table AC Oulu. After being in full control with a two goal lead with just 20 minutes gone, one of our central defenders got himself sent off and we capitulated, giving up two goals but somehow holding onto a point. I should be thankful that we did, but unfortunately the draw moved us back down into the relegation zone! We had to take on JJK who had already sealed second place and a playoff spot to try and gain promotion and hope results elsewhere went our way. We had our best performance of the season though! While it was only a 1-0 victory, we fully controlled the game despite some morale issues with some of the players and a few nerves! We finished out the season one point above the relegation zone in 8th place.

For the most part, the squad should be good enough to contend for promotion next season as long as we can keep our key players. We look forward to welcoming Simon Skrabbe back and I feel the Finnish under 21 international could be a key player for us next season. Our top scorer last season was Papa Niang who scored 6 goals as a winger, so Skrabbe will be a crucial striking addition to the team. We are also struggling a little for depth in central midfield so that's an area that we'll look to strengthen!

  6. Currently managing Brackley Town in first season. After a strong start to the season alternating between a fairly simple 4-4-2 and a more counter attack based 4-1-4-1, we're now playing pretty badly. We are near the bottom of the league on the team comparison page for work rate, determination, leadership, decision making and aggression. Neither of my tactics or anything else I've tried have asked the players to do anything complicated, but with the obvious glaring issues in the side that aren't easily rectified at this level, would the correct approach perhaps be to just play simple, long ball football and cut out the middle man, so to speak? Trying to play any sort of passing game hasn't really worked and seems counter-intuitive considering our poor decision makers we have right now, many of whom just can't really be bothered anyway. This is an interesting challenge as even managing some of the worst teams in the game, they normally still excel in a couple of areas. This squad I have right now have many weaknesses and no particular strengths.

  7. Decided to give this a go!

Holidayed through the first 2 months of the game so it wouldn't be the same clubs available. 2nd September and I applied for the Tampines Rovers FC job, one of the most successful clubs in Singapore, winning the league three times in the last five seasons. The club are currently 4th in the league, with only 7 games of the season left, 5 points from the top. The club have already won the S.League Cup and were knocked out of the RHB Singapore Cup in the preliminary round.

  8. This thread has been an absolute godsend, thank so much for your insight! My predicted to be bottom of the league Gloucester City side are currently up in 3rd and performing brilliantly. I haven't copied everything part for part as lower league football requires some tweaks here and there and bringing in the right personnel isn't so easy, but my side is incredibly difficult to break down for the opposition, and my star left wing-back has caught many teams napping on the break. No matter what tactic I use, I look to try and bring in players with strong mental attributes, and build a squad that will hustle for 90 minutes and make life difficult for ANY team that faces us. I also never realized how important playing players in their strongest and preferred roles really is. In the past I had my own formations and roles and would rarely deviate from that, and the results just weren't coming. Now I'm more picky with my signings and will look for specifics in terms of attributes and role familiarity. I've always embraced the challenge of a new FM game, but threads like these help me to understand it so much easier.

Thanks to this thread I now understand exactly what my players are doing, where they're going and/or going to go, and what tweaks I may need to make on the fly. Thank you for making FM fun again. :)
