  1. I've been reading this topic since the video came out and at a certain point i started wondering. I'm currently playing with my local team and i'm a good 20 years into the future. In my bank account theres 1.1 billion euro's. I got a couple of CL's under my belt and some of the best players in the world stay at my squad. And I just use scouting, training and selling to propell my team, like "the game was intendend". No quick fix strategy. How is that not a sign that its a game where some stuff is "broken". Its a complete unrealistic scenario and clearly something is OP. So thats why I wonder: how much does it care that pace and acceleration is OP? Ingame there's allways gonna be something that gives a human an advantage over the AI and therefore give the human a way of exploiting it. I dont think there's gonna be any game without it. It does however gives us fuel for some interessting heated debates 😉
  2. But it looks like your disproving your own statement. I have checked a couple of players and see that a number of them developed, mostly those that play as the starting 11. Some who didnt play or had a low number of games didnt develop at all. I've got no clue on what CA should peform well on the levels you've played. But a quick qoogle search told me the following thats below this. Which tells me you where far better then your competition up to leaque 2, and one of the better teams of league 1. I cant see your attributes so i say this purely based on CA. So i might be wrong here CHAMPIONSHIP Star - 130 Good - 120 Decent - 110 LEAGUE 1 Star - 110 Good - 100 Decent - 90 LEAGUE 2 Star - 90 Good - 80 Decent - 70 Source: https://www.fmscout.com/q-8159-Current-Ability-Levels.html
  3. The reason why I asked about their ages has to do with how development in general works. Below 18 years old and for some "slow students" below 19 years old training is favoured over match time. When a player is 23 years or older he needs matches to develop, no matches means no significant growth of attributes. And I think we need competitive matches, but i'm not to sure about that. The bulk of our fysical development will happen naturaly in the early years when your body forms. That too happens in fm. After a certain age you need to specific training to boost fysicals. So I'm not really surprised by the results you got so far. These tests are fun to do and it is interesting to see how a scenario like this plays out. I'm interested to see how a test with real football players works out, if you'll get a different result. I dont think though that your putting a nail in any coffin yet.
  4. I think in real life you also need matches to improve. You can train all you want, but the presurre you get from playing something real will increase your learning curve. Thats at least how it works in my life and with the people i'm surrounded with. Theory is fine but you need to be put to the test. I havent done experiments on larger scale, but from my experiments training does benefit the development. At least it puts the focus on attribute groups. And it might be that the game mecanics work like that.
  5. Someone with 20 professionalisme, 20 determination and 200 PA is going to get good, no mather what. From a certain point players development comes from playing matches. And since they are super consistent, play well in big matches and probarbly will never be injured they are gonna play well. And so they will develop perfectly fine
  6. This is alsof how I look at loaning out a player. Something I look at is playing style of the team he's playing at. I tend to use possesion type of attacking of football. So the club the player goes too must have a similiar type.
  7. Thanks for those links! To prove you're own point, one of is findings was that determination is an important part of player development.
  8. Check the 'evidence based football manager' channel on YouTube, he has done an episode about whats the best option. He will run loads of simulations of different scenario's and discusses the results.
  9. I've been playing this game since late 90's, starting with an old copy of cm2. Since the release of the first fm classic I haven't gone back to the full game, because touch was simpler. I'm not that good at the game and don't have to much time on hand and touch provided all most everything I wanted. Transfers, tactics and youth development, and the last one is the one area where I missed little bit more flexibility. Since fm22 touch isn't an option for me anymore, I'm going to have to switch to full. I'm curious if there are other players that have made that step and what where there experiences. What have you done to make full more like touch or have you gone all out? I'd like to keep this thread positive, so please no frustrations or rants 😅
  10. For what it's worth this is also how I play, only difference is I use 2 wingers. I started using this formation in Argentina, first time and with an unbalanced team. So didn't work very well. Since I'm not really good in creating tactics, or knowing what attributes fit to a particular playing style, I fired up another save. In that save I have one of the best teams around and got it to work reasonably well. Now third team, predicted to be 12th and in religation battle when I jumped in. There philosophy is play with high tempo and high pressure and they have a lot of players with lots of aggression, stamina and work rate. And now this formation works really well with the vertical tiki-taka preset (tweaked though, some instructions didn't make sense)
  11. Hey guys, I've been playing with an 42dm31 for a short period, eventually I went back to a traditional 4231. The reason for the switch is that I can't perform against a 442,and in my save that's a pretty common system for top teams. I'm a CL contender, used to be the biggest club but my focus is more on youth which has it downsides. My question is, how do you setup against a 442?
  12. I would love if there was an option to set the level of difficulty like you have in Fifa (or any other skill game). And then at the highest level you could have a realistic transfer system. Not the way I would play it though, not that good at it. Even after all those years 😅
  13. Or go to transfer history tab at atalanta
  14. Unfortunately that option is removed. Or at least it hasn't been on untill fmt 20, I haven't played another version after that.
  15. Championship manager 2. With only the English and Scottish leauge playable, I just found out there where more options 😅. I also played a lot of fifa manager back then, with Bobby Robson on the cover. Another milestone was the inclusion of playable Scottish leagues, albeit only in the PC version. For the first time in the series there was a selection of leagues to choose from at the start of the game - only one could be run at a time, however.
  16. I like stuff from @Ö-zil to the Arsenal! It's a nice combination of building a club and following the progress combined with really inside full information.
  17. I've had a CL winning squad with a third of the players coming thru my youth system. I'm still on fm20 and I didn't savescum. I did have to learn to be patient with my talents. Because next to all the top wonderkids from all around the world they didn't look as exiting. But when they where old enough the where good enough. (edit) had only 1 or 2 real star players though. And funnily enough not a single centre back that was good enough in 25 years.
  18. I have had many players (mainly strikers) that don't perform well on there preferred side. Simply because my tactic worked better when the where on the other side.
  19. This is gold 👊🏻 I've read a lot about fm, a lot, but I've never understood passing completely.
  20. For me it's also about testing the water a bit. If they ask a rediculous price but are willing to sell they usually come down to a more reasonable price when the negotiations start. If they don't, they don't want to sell
  21. Between 200 and 300. I used to have a talent list and a short list, before that I had a short list per position (because I regularly retrain). Over time I just put it all in one list which contains a lot of players
