In FM20 I got a huge offer (not THAT huge) for Garner from Arsenal.  I turned it down just cuz it didnt "feel right" to me...unrealistic.   Of course that never stopped me from scooping up players for ridiculously low fees.   So...no judgement, it's your game and all that.

I wouldn't sell him within the league, for sure. I countered with a bigger offer, can't remember the price, and they withdrew so he stays.

Ok so Pogba is unhappy but I will be stupidest man on planet if I sell him for this bid. Real Madrid also, 55mil£ top bid.

On the other hand AWB wanted new contract and I offer him 125k per week but after few weeks he is unhappy and want to left the club. Offers is around 50mil, but I want let him without at least 70mil. I don't want sell him but no one is bigger than the club and no one is unreplacable . It's so frustrating that I won 6 trophy in 1 year at the club and their is problems in "squad harmony" .

You can always promote Williams to the first team spot in his place. I like AWB this year, but he's nor irreplaceable really, and like you said, no one is bigger than the club.

  3. Took a break from my United save to play around with some others for a little while (if you haven't done a Sir Alex Ferguson Challenge, I highly recommend it). Came back and forgot how incredible Charlie McNeill has turned out in this save, kind of randomly really. Playing him mostly on the RW but he fills in at AM and ST when needed. 7 goal contributions in 15 in the league but 10 in 3 matches in the FA Cup. Really pleased with him.

Well, they did the same with Tevez...

There's plenty of examples of players crossing derby lines. Ronaldo played for Inter, Milan, Barca and Madrid. Pirlo, Baggio and Zlatan all played for Juve, Milan and Inter. Figo played for Barca and Real. Rooney almost left for Chelsea. Tevez played for both Manchester clubs. Higuain for Napoli and Juve.  Sol Campbell and Gallas for Spurs and Arsenal. Ashley Cole for Chelsea and Arsenal. Hell, even van Persie for Arsenal and United.

I think if the player makes the team better, it shouldn't matter, most especially in FM.

Am in January now and a 4 way fight for the title. We are also in the carabao cup final against Leeds.

We have been so much better in defense, and now have the most clean sheets in the league, however I want a cb.

2 days left of the window I'm looking at Pau Torres or Badiashile, I can pick up either fairly cheap.

What are people's opinions on Torres and Badiashile?

Failing that I will wait till the summer and probably buy Upamecano or Demiral.

No opinion on either of them, though I did sniff around Badishile as well. He was a bit expensive for what I wanted to shell out though, and ended up going with Ben White since he was English.

Holy hell. Players I want to sign are so expensive this year. :seagull:

Really? I thought prices were quite cheap, at least during the beta. I don't know if they made adjustments for the full release though.

I have found that when you already start with good youth players, and have top class facilities you don't really need to sign regens from other clubs, it will only end up harming the development of the players you already have and those that comes through your own youth intake

My intakes have actually been impressively mediocre, to the point where I've sacked the HoYD to try to improve them. I've made sure to pluck regens in positions that, mostly, wouldn't hinder players that are already at the club, but it's also becoming evident that some of the ones already at the club aren't going to be up to spec anyway.

  7. Successful season I'd say. Greenwood finished on 48 goals and 9 assists in 56 appearances. Bruno had 20 and 16 in 47, Rashford with 26 and 15 in 55. Massive season from those three.

I've accidentally started to scoop up regens from across the world, so I have some squad sorting to do to shift players that either aren't up to scratch, or finding loans for some of the young guys in order to keep the squad from ballooning in size.

Yeah that's true, although that thread puts me off slightly.

It would be interesting to hear if anyone in here is having major problems signing foreign youth after January 2021, not many have moaned about it so far, so I'm guessing it hasn't affected people too much.

I haven't. You're still managing United, the club has enough pull and it should be easy enough to loan them out in the case of work permit issues.

After I cancelled Harry Kane's transfer, played Greenwood up top and boom! 40 league goals and 50 across all competitions. Felt bad for Martial though as he was kept to the bench for most of the season. Just couldn't drop Greenwood at the moment and he's only 20 and technically his first full season spearheading the attack. Playing as if he's in his prime years but somehow I doubt he'll get this numbers again.

He's bee pretty mosterous for me as well, though now he's kicking off about wanting to move to Bayern or Barca despite signing a new contract for me like a year ago. Luckily I got him to agree with me letting him go for 110mil and I don't see anyone paying that.

Why is it harder to sign players after Jan 2021, Brexit? Will this stop me from signing young foreign players?

It won't necessarily prevent you from doing it, but some may not want to come if they fail to get a work permit. It will let you know if the game thinks they'll get one or not when you do contract negotiations with the player. Luckily there are plenty of countries with more lax registration rules, namely Germany and Spain, so you shouldn't find it too hard to loan players out and get them game time for work permits. Also, bear in mind, sometimes the game will tell you that a player won't be likely to be granted a work permit, and they'll still get one, so it isn't a perfect indicator.

Thanks for the input. I decided against getting Kane as I use mostly AF and PF up front. Plus with the number of players I have in my disposal who can play multiple positions and upfront (Martial, Greenwood, Rashford, Depay) makes the purchase unnecessary.

Agree with Kane restricting opportunities for Greenwood. Arezo does look good on loan currently. Thanks for the suggestion. GK situation though, a few days after I cancelled the deal for Kane, Donnaruma started making noises about not being able to join us. I'm going to spend the whole season unsettling him if I couldn't get him this summer or winter.

Lol, it wasn't a typo. I enabled the 1st window just to get some signings in seeing how hard it is for clubs in England to buy young foreign talent after 1st Jan 2021. For Shaw, Arsenal came in with a £55m after rumours broke out a few days prior to their bid but joined Chelsea instead for £50m. Decided to move him on after only making 15 appearances in all comps and that's with almost no injuries.  Sold Fred to a chinese club. They seem to like making bids for him even in FM20. I do feel it's much easier to sell players in the official release as compared to the Beta. Kane is a no go, he will restrict chances for Greenwood and Haaland looks better for an AF.

My 4231 plays with 2 DLPs (one support / one defend) and sitting back (Pogba / Camavinga with his tackling and passing) and I emphasize a lot on one two quick touch and go passing, which I have most of my midfielders, wingers, and forwards learn for their PPM. I use IF(S) on the left and IW(S) on the right with both players swapping positions throughout matches. Having versatile players make it easier for them to affect those area of the pitch. Sancho for me scores and assists mostly from the right hand side though.

For what it's worth, depending on how much Donnarumma wants in playing time, he may not be worth it. De Gea stays very good for a number of years after the start of the save, so you could get a younger, less developed keeper to properly grow behind de Gea. I only ended up signing Gigi because he was absolutely free, and agreed to be a cup keeper which I don't know that he would do if you signed him with a fee.

  12. Unfortunately Galli and Peters have both retired in my save but Nick Cox is bringing in a bunch of **** in my United save and has to go. I guess I'll keep searching for someone. Bruno Conti is in love with Poch at Roma so I can't get him either.

  13. Nuno Mendes or Gaya is where I would look as far as LB is concerned. Maarten Vaandevoort maybe for GK? I don't know what to tell you about Kane, he's young enough that he'll still overlap with Greenwood's real growth years, so I would be hesitant, though I've also been tempted to take a look at him in my save for the same reasons you listed. Since you still have Martial around, I might consider just using him until Arezo comes back in from loan and then use him in rotation.
