  1. In my save Ilkka Mäkelä has just taken over at HJK.

This season IRL he was sacked by MyPa and was regarded not good enough for the worst team in the 1st division. I checked his CA and reputation in the editor and he is one of the best finnish coaches in the game. He should be radically downgraded.

Also noticed that Mika Nurmela is seen as retired person. He should be a coach in the national team.

  2. I think that's an attribute you should set quite high if you plan a journeyman save in multiple nations with low reputation, as it doesn't really rise as much as the other attributes. I've read somewhere that it should go up as you get employment in new countries but from my own experience that's not really the case. In FM20 I played a 20  year save in 4 countries and adaptability rose like 1 or 2 points in that time if I recall correctly.

  3. I think this year the most realistic looking stadiums are the closed ones with corner seats that have under 30,000 capacity. When the capacity is over 30,000 the stadiums look huge and have like 3 or 4 tiers. Then again actual big stadiums with let's say over 50,000 capacity don't look much bigger than those with little over 30,000 seats. Another thing are big stadiums with 4 different stands and open corners as they hardly ever look anything remotely close to their real life counterparts. The corner holes are often huge and the main stands really far away from the stands in both ends. IRL the lower seats behind goal often come quite close to the side stand and the general feeling is that you can't see the whole city from the stadium. This year the buildings in those corners are a nice touch but get a little boring in the end as there's not too much variety.

AC Oulu has been tweaked according the feedback. "AC Oulu OLS" has to wait as the name change won't happen until the next season. Any idea if it's still going to happen now that OLS got relegated from 2nd division?

It's still going to happen despite OLS getting relegated. A deal is in place until the end of 2023 season after which it'll be evaluated. AC Oulu takes control of OLS first team and U17 team (which obviously is not in the game) for the next three seasons and those teams play under the name AC Oulu/OLS. OLS as a club will now concentrate more in youth development for younger age groups.

  5. I ended up at Atletico Madrid for the 2024/25 season in my FM20 save and bought him for around 60m after he had established himself at Sevilla. He bacame my first choice right sided inside forward for the rest of my save and won multiple La Liga titles while scoring a minimum of 15 goals five seasons in a row, scored a winning goal in Champions League final extra time and also won the World Cup with Spain scoring a goal in the final. A truly fantastic player.

  6. Some info about AC Oulu

    - Rafinha best position should be centre-back. He played there the whole season being one of the best players in the division. I think he played CB also last season in HJK.

    - Alexander Jibrin have also played mostly CB last few seasons so that should be his best position. He has also played right-back occasionally, not so much CM.

    - The game transfer lists Aapo Heikkilä and he doesn't get playing time. He was one of the best right wingers in the division this season scoring 9 goals. Maybe his attributes need a bit of a boost or other players in that position downgraded.

    - Miika Koskela appears in U20 team. He played 17 games out 22 and should be first choice CB so maybe his attributes need to reflect that. His height is 195cm. https://www.transfermarkt.com/miika-koskela/profil/spieler/609402

    - Samuli Leppälä played the whole season and the end of last season at CM. That's probably his best position nowadays.

    - Teemu Tavikainen is assistant manager, not Lauri Siren. Siren's role is somewhat unknown as he hangs around the team but is not really a coach either. https://acoulu.fi/joukkue/2020/

    - Future stadium plan. https://acoulu.fi/uutiset/otc-stadion-oy-hakee-suunnitteluvarausta-jalkapallostadionille-heinapaahan/

    - OLS plays in the future under the name AC Oulu OLS and should be classified in the same manner as HJK/Klubi04, Ilves/Ilves2, SJK/SJK-Akatemia. https://acoulu.fi/uutiset/ac-oulu-ja-ols-solmivat-merkittavan-yhteistyosopimuksen/

  7. I was searching for backroom staff for my Sunderland team and came across a quite annoying tendency in tactical styles of staff in my game. I want to play counter-attacking football and like my staff to have the same tactical style so that their advice wouldn't always be the opposite of what I want to do. After becoming frustrated of my inability to find suitable staff I decided to make a test and see what tactical styles are the most common. I made searches (including unrealistic appointments) only filtering by tactical style and the results were overwhelming. There were 12 694 staff found and the percentage of their tactical styles were as follows:

    • Route One - 22.98 %
    • Tiki-Taka - 15.78 %
    • Control Possession - 15.27 %
    • Catenaccio - 12 %
    • Gegenpress - 10.81 %
    • Vertical Tiki-Taka - 8.41 %
    • Fluid Counter-Attack - 7.72 %
    • Park the Bus - 5.78 %
    • Wing-Play - 1.23 %
    • Direct Counter-Attack 0.05 % (!!!)

My database is around 100.000 players with a lot of leagues loaded around Europe and top leagues from South America.

To my knowledge "route one" kind of football is not a trend at the moment in real life, and instead styles closer to control possession and gegenpress are the most common for teams which control games, and lesser teams often play counter-attacking football. My gut feeling is that in FM 20 personnel in the upper levels of game are well researched and route one is not very common tactical style, but in the lower levels and lesser leagues where research probably is not so comprehensive route one seems to be the way to go for a lot of managers and other staff.

My question is do people think this could be bug and one reason why we are seeing so many long balls over the backline?

Hi Kubi, that's good to know.

Is it possible to use a similar process to change the way Anfield looks in the game? I'm not a fan of the big gaps in the corners and the 1960s floodlights and, if nothing else, would like to change it back to the way it appeared in FM16.

Just for the record, I've already reported it in the Liverpool data issues thread at the request of a couple of mods.

Thanks, and sorry if this is too off-topic for this thread. (Delete if necessary)

I hear what you're saying, the look of Anfield is very disappointing. For my Liverpool save I used the editor and made Anfield extinct and created a new stadium with all the same details and it now has corners like in FM16. Of course irl Anfield has no corners but in game the newly created version at least for me is more satisfying than the original with wide open corners.
