  1. Tony Pizza at Kerala United FC - Go Hornbills! - Season 6 Our preseason cup run this year wasn't the best - we managed to get to the QF but lost to Goa. We were the better side but just couldn't finish our dinner on this occasion. Super League This year it has been an up and down season - full of good and bad points. The good - we managed to do the double over Kolkata who are the reigning champs. the bad - we lost to many crap teams who we outplayed, and also with a lot of our youth playing in the U18/U21 etc for India, we lost them for certain games. This made it pretty tough all round! We did make it into the playoffs which was nice. We easily got to the Semi Final where we played Mumbai, we lost the first game but pulled it level in the return fixture. Late into extra time they had run out of steam and we managed to get! Line ups below! We got the perfect start, a goal within 10 minutes. Unfortunately they showed their quality and were all over us, they pegged us back by half time and it stayed level until extra time (again!) This time round it was our legs that went, we had a few suspensions too which didn't help and we lose 2-1 Youth Intake Ah lovely - time for the new recruits! The preview was mixed - Excellent intake but the best we could hope for was a D rating in the wide areas.. Turns out it was pretty Excellent in the end. Saha is the standout - his determination/teamwork/work rate could be really useful, resolute personality too....so maybe he has high potential??? Super Cup The players must have been on a high since the final of the Super League and they took that good form into the cup - another final to look forward to! Line ups Below! Another final - another similar story...Similar but not the same! We score first again, a really nice football, we were like the Indian Barcelona of it's prime, quick passes and a lovely finish. Then we gave away a penalty! They converted and into extra time we go. Luckily we weren't as tired this time but neither team could get a winner. Penalties it was. And..WE WON!!! Their keeper missed the deciding penalty by blasting it over the bar, happy days! Our first cup win, hopefully with more to come! PS. look at my little manager! It always makes me laugh to see him on the sideline, I have been waiting for a cup win to show him off :D. Also, he has an eye patch but as he is so short it hovers over his head like a Halo! Team of the Year Madhu again standing out - need to keep him somehow. Next year's team Our new DM will ft in nicely, but we still really need someone in the wingback roles - and maybe a better keeper! If only we could buy some.... Our lovely chairman agreed to increase youth facilities - I didn't realise it was going to cost us £1.4m!!! we are now broke!
  2. Tony Pizza at Kerala United FC - Go Hornbills! - Season 5 Durand Cup Our preseason cup went well again, finishing second in the group but qualifying as the best runner up. Kolkata getting in our way again at the Semi Finals - They are a very good team now and will take a while to beat them consistently. Super League Another year of defying expectations, they still predict us to finish bottom but I think we are more around the mid table in terms of quality. Missing out on the playoffs this year by 4 points was a shame, our form dipped in February and cost us here (slightly annoying that we have gone backwards!) Youth Intake We had our preview for the youth intake (and I remembered to screenshot it this time!). We are predicted to have an excellent intake but the best position is only rated as a C. Not sure why that happens! Our new lot of players (victims) dropped ad another decent crop. Not the "Excellent" bunch we were promised but a good few squad players to help out. There wasn't really a stand out player here - star ratings were good but attributes were not! Super Cup Post Season cup was also good, but a very similar fate! Another semi final loss to Kolkata. Is was close but we were lucky to do as well as we did. Team of The Year Madhu is the standout - but he is the only player in the team who isn't a newgen! Next Year's team Up top we are doing really well - in most games we do have an attitude of "we can score more goals than you"(it doesn't always work!) Rodrigues, Singh and Xavier are the standout players. We have really struggled to get decent full backs which is why Madhu keeps playing. Hoping to get some this year! I tried to put a bit more info in this update including the team reports, if you want anything else in these let me know.
  3. Ah good! Another person trying this in the Indian league! Good luck my friend.
  4. As I am using a custom database for my India save, do you guys want me to upload the editor file to have a look at it? I didn't create it, I found it online and it was the only one that matched the new format they are changing the league too (and SI's version of it is terrible!)
  5. Tony Pizza at Kerala United FC - Go Hornbills! - Season 4 Lets do the bad news first.... First player sale - he was our first player to look like a world beater (in the Indian league). A whopping £37.5k in the bank! There is a huge sell on clause but realistically that won't help that much. We can only hope he gets sold to Europe with another sell on clause and then after that we might see some notable money. Durand Cup This is the pre season cup (I guess like the league cup in England). Managed to get all the way to the Semi Finals (this seems to be a trend this year - sorry, slight spoilers!). League Update The league went brilliantly too, we kept draws to a minimum and it really helped, we lost a lot more game than the other teams around us, but we made up for that with wins! We finish 5th and into the playoffs..more to come on that later! Youth Intake We get another great intake - Kumar can provide support up top and Khan is a great number two to Xavier in AM(c). Prakash Kumar - he has good physicals, good work rate and flair, could be useful! Vivek Khan - Physicals are crap, Technically he can't really even play football well - but mentally he is good. So...maybe he should be the manager?? Playoffs So for most "normal" leagues, the team who comes top of the league wins it. Which would make sense here as Kolkata finished 18 points clear and only dropped points in three games all season. That doesn't happen in India. India has decided to adopt good old Playoffs from America! We got through our QF match but were beaten by the "leaders" Kolata, they were just too strong for us! And they had our lovely boy Chhangte Thomas on the bench....THE BENCH!!!! Champions Surely Kolkata were going to win right???... So the league ends with new champions, who sit in second place - seems weird to me but it does make it slightly easier to win the league! Indian Super Cup Now for the lovely post-season tournament. Another Semi Final - three times this year! Onto the next year to see what happens!
  6. Team is coming along nicely! Good game against Liverpool but they would always be a tough team to beat.
  7. Good luck! If I remember correctly Guiseley have some good facilities which could help!
  8. Tony Pizza at Kerala United FC - Go Hornbills! - Season 3 League Update New season - new format! 14 teams this year instead of 11 (I think it has settled down and this is the end of the transitional phase). Incredible start, carrying on the form from last year. by Christmas we were second by 3 points. Delhi (DFC) were unbeaten and looked set for the top spot. We played them at the beginning of January and lost 3-0, now the gap was 6 points. However - Delhi (DFC) decided that they didn't want to get promoted and lost the next 8 out of 11 games. Delhi (DFC) managed to finish 3rd when they were favourites to win, but more importantly, we are going up! We will be in the Indian Superleague for next year, playing teams who have a lot of money and foreign talent! Youth Intake Very similar to last year - Excellent bunch and one big stand out. Amit Singh will join Chhangte Thomas as one of our top players now. He doesn't quite fit the tactic but I am sure he can adapt. Thomas (our amazing guy from last year) almost left us. Kolkata in the super league offered £20k and the board loved it! They accepted and I managed to talk them out of it. Thomas has been a professional and not kicked off and luckily they didn't come back with a bigger bid. He won't stay forever though! Domestic Cups As we finished 2nd last year we made it into the two domestic cups. The Durand cup and Super cup. The Durand cup we made it to the Quarter Finals, and in the Super Cup we got all the way to the Semi's. The super Cup starts after the league has finished (it gets very confusing here!) The board seems to keep wanting to upgrade the youth Facilities! I won't complain Personal I finally got my first badge, I ask all the time and usually the answer is no because they don't want me to leave! But they let me have one, so it is a start! But Pizza is looking good in the attribute wise anyway.
  9. Tony Pizza at Kerala United FC - Go Hornbills! - Season 2 League Update The first part of the season started off with a bang, we beat favourites for the title (Churchill Brothers) 4-2 at home. We continued the form for half of the season and were top until the 13th game of the season. There were only 20 games this season as there are only 11 teams. This year no one can get relegated (which was nice to know but didn't really matter in the end), and only one team can get promoted. We then lost the return game to Churchill Brothers and they overtook us in the league, they then won nearly every match after that and we finished a point behind them at the end of the year. no promotion but we have clearly proven we are better than Kerala FC! Youth Intake Another "Excellent" intake promised, and it delivered! 12 out of 16 were described as elite. We had one stand out! Chhangte Thomas came into the club and everyone agreed he is our new best player! He is rated as our best by the coaches and the season preview section has him in the best 11! (I am kind of hoping he gets a move to Europe and we can put in a nice profit % clause in the sale.
  10. Tony Pizza at Kerala United FC - Go Hornbills! - Season 1 Admin updates So this is an edited database as the Indian league is just completely wrong in FM. The league itself goes through some changes each season until it settles on the new structure that should take effect in 27/28 (I think). League Phase Well We had a very quiet period from when I joined until the end of December, as there was no games! Our first game of the season was on the 21st of December, (12/21), and then ended in April. 8 teams in the league and we play each other twice, so this season went quick! We did incredibly well this season - half of our team were grey players and they turned out to be incredibly useful. Or my tactic is just amazing! Promotion first season! Absolutely incredible year. Turns out we were predicted top so we didn't do as well as we were meant to but still! Youth Intake Very good youth intake but when you look at the "best" below, you will see that the star ratings don't mean much! Best from the Intake Fernandes looks like he could be useful for him, because he has some pace. He can't play football at all but he can run around the pitch fast. The 177 season ticket holders are in for a wild ride as we go up the leagues!
  11. Tony Pizza at Kerala United FC New challenge time! And I aim to stick with this one a bit longer than the last one! Tony Pizza is a Sammarinese national on holiday in Kerala India, who happened to get hired by mistake. He was bird watching and was looking for the native Great Hornbill. He asked the locals where he could see them and they sent him in the direction of this club. (Turns out this is their nickname). Whilst attending a home game, the entire backroom staff walked out after an unfortunate incident involving a mango fruit, a large sombrero and 3 elephants. For legal reasons I can't disclose anymore. Mr Pizza stepped in and guided the team to victory and was handed the job on the spot. Tony has been unable to work out the paperwork to sign anyone so he has decided to just focus on youth for the time being. Great Hornbill image attached below for no reason Editor notes - FYI Tony Pizza was created by my 6 year old nephew, hence the stupid name!
  12. Alex Jones at Merthyr - Update Short update for this one, but I am going to put this challenge on hold for a while. Sorry to anyone that was enjoying the updates but I plan to continue it eventually! In short, I lose the motivation for it. I think I realised how much of a mammoth task this was going to be (in England specifically) and so I wanted to try something a bit easier. The good news....I have found another team to do this challenge with, in a different continent. Looking through other peoples saves here it seems a bit easier in other continents. There was a country I had in mind before I picked Merthyr which would have been a lot of fun but their league wasn't available in the base game. I have managed to get the league sorted now so I am going to give that a go and hopefully will bring an update on that one later today (if I don't get sacked first season).
  13. Alex Jones at Merthyr - Season 3 Preseason really goes by quick when you can't sign anyone! First off with the bad news - our best AMC was sold - I didn't accept the offer but the boss decided that £300k was too good to turn down. There is a 20% sell on clause but I doubt we will get anything from that for a good few years. One good thing was that he stayed in Wales and joins Cardiff. Whilst looking through the leagues I noticed something interesting in the prem. Money troubles for Utd it seems! our season started really well, a few wins took us up to 3rd but then we slowly descended down the table. Youth academy preview looked decent, well sort of....It says excellent but then nothing is better than a C! The team continued to do well in our first season here, sticking just outside the playoffs for the moment. whilst waiting for the Youth players to arrive in March I thought I would see if Man U's money troubles had effected their season at all... Yes... yes it has! Checking through the transfers it looks like they sold over £150m of players this year, without buying anyone. Youth Intake Great again! It is a bit strange that since it knows I am doing a YA challenge I seemed to be blessed with really good intakes. I assume this will change as we progress up the league but for now it is pretty awesome. Top 3 below: we finished the season strong but other teams were just better, so we finished one place outside the playoffs. Very happy with this. I am sticking with the attacking formation, as I never find sitting back and playing defensively works at all. We also made it to the FA Trophy Final v AFC Fylde. Penalty loss was a bit tough to take after coming back from 3-1 down, but they were the much better side on the night. Welsh club Updates: Newport County still sit in League two, they don't seem to be making any progress, Wrexham on the other hand have managed to get back to back promotions and will now play in the Championship. Cardiff and Swansea both finished mid table so there will be three Welsh Clubs in the Championship next year. In Wales, Briton Ferry win the league on goal difference, Bala (who won it last year) miss out and there were only 2 goals in it. TNS...got relegated! Which is awesome! Man U Update.... Well well well....Having pulled themselves out of the bottom three, Arsenal relegate them on the final day of he season. Ipswich scored a last minute winner to leap frog Utd and survive for another year. also, Man U won the Conference league, so European football n the Championship next year!
  14. Great story so far, love the change of developing a few leagues by the end, the Irish leagues will be a challenge when (if) you get there.
  15. Alex Jones at Merthyr - Season 2. The second season started well and were unbeaten in the first 16 games (league and cup combined). Our form continued through into the new year but February seemed to be the month the players struggled. A winless Feb left us 1 point out of the playoffs. Youth Intake We were promised another Excellent youth intake but the only position they rated an A was for striker. This was needed as it was our weakest position for sure. When they arrived on the bus we did indeed get our striker, plus another keeper and Centre back. Top 3 Below After the reinforcements arrived it gave us the needed boost to kick on and make the play offs. Another strong end to the season helped us reach 4th place. We drew on the last day of the season which dropped us from 3rd to 4th. 3rd was the target as it would let us skip one round of the playoffs. Playoffs This year we got one round further and made it to the final, our reward was facing Gateshead who finished in second place, and they were favourites! Team News The Final The game started very slowly, I had to make sure I had highlights on when we got to half time with no highlight at all! The second half picked up but still 0-0 at full time. By the 110th minute I was preparing for penalties, players were tired so I took our left back off for our back up striker! However, we didn't need penalties, two goals late on were enough for promotion. Promotion!!!!! When we got to playoffs for the second year running I was worried we would be stuck here forever but it went well in the end. I was poised ready to take a screenshot of the trophy lift, didn't realise there wasn't one for the playoffs here! never mind! Next year is going to be incredibly tough as a lot of players are refusing to sign new contracts, one of our DM's was ready to negotiate, but wasn't willing to accept less than £6k per week....nope! Season Stats and Awards Welsh Club Updates: Newport finish mid table league two, while Wrexham win that league. Cardiff win the playoffs to get back into the Championship. In Wales Bala Town become the new champions, beating Haverfordwest by 1 point.
  16. Alex Jones at Merthyr - Season 1. The season started with a bang. Undefeated in the first 4 games and we went 7 games with only one loss. Then September hit and the form plummeted! By December we had picked up form again and found ourselves in 3rd place, but with 7 teams below us all within 2 points. The youth academy preview gave us hope... And boy did it deliver! Top 3 players below! Injuries and fatigue hit our players in the new year. We really struggled for form and slipped down the table, part of the reason was that I forgot to move the new youth players into the first team and just "forgot" to use them! Once I had sorted out that little error we went on a 7 game winning streak to end the season in 6th and making the playoffs. Unfortunately the fairy-tale ending wasn't here today, as we lost in the semi final to eventual winners Scarborough. Luckily the board objective was to attempt to avoid relegation! However in the season review I got a C- rating for only reaching the play of Semi Final - even with the objective above clearly saying we would struggle in the league...I think the board are getting ahead of themselves. Season stats and awards below: Welsh Club updates: In England, Cardiff finish bottom of the championship whilst Swansea narrowly avoided the playoffs. Newport county just survived the drop into non league football while Wrexham lose out in the play off final. In Wales TNS don't win the league! (which is a good reason to celebrate), but they had a very unlikely winner. Briton Ferry Llansawel won the Cymru south last year and then went on and won the Cymru Premier the next season. Remarkable!
  17. After many, many (14 in total!) reloads to get the team I wanted.... Alex Jones has been hired by Merthyr Town FC. Little is known about Alex Jones's football style, but there have been strange reports of him being "scared" to make any signings, preferring to work with the players already at the club or from the youth academies. The board have not commented on these rumours but appear to be happy with their new manager, mainly because he is cheap! I have been debating for a while now what my next save should be. Either a Youth Academy save or a Build a nation. So I have decided to do a bit of both combined. I was inspired by another member who also is using Merthyr, and figured I can also take on the task of bringing a world cup to Wales whilst getting Merthyr to the top. I am hoping I can also increase the league reputation back in Wales too by loaning them players (if I can figure out a way to target just those clubs!) Or once we have overtaken them we can loan them to other Welsh teams who play in England. Also, Alex Jones is wearing a lovely Green suit and red time to show his patriotism. The club did have a transfer lined up when I joined....I replied in the only way appropriate to the media. Some good news - Our best player looks pretty decent, however we only have 14 in total! Welsh Club Updates: Unfortunately, TNS won the Cymru premier, and all the Welsh Clubs in England stayed in their divisions for another year.
  18. Not sure if someone has already answered this, but it is a glitch when you have purchased the In-Game editor but then have it turned off for a new save. As it says "In-game editor allowed - No". It can't be used. I had the same issue when I tried (and failed) the San Marino Challenge
  19. I even adjusted the TV money so that they were all rich, but they still didn't use the money well. It is definitely a long term challenge! I hope you succeed,
  20. Well done on this, looks like it has been a success so far, I have just read through the entire thread today. I did the same with Wales in FM 23 (The mighty Conwy Borough) and had great fun with it but ended it before I had reached our end goal as the other teams in Wales always let me down in Europe! Hope you have better luck!
  21. This is brilliant! great dedication to the save and seems to be going really well.
  22. I have been away for a while so just caught up on your journey, well done! it has been an incredible ride for you! Have you got a really good tactic maybe? I mean this in the nicest way but you over achieved with some of those players you had to win champions league! Well done though, love reading all your updates!
  23. 27/28 Season (Summer Transfer Window) Money Money MONEY!!!! Oh happy days! I sold him to West Brom for 950K with the sell on clause and it paid off! I now have £20m to spend this transfer window. Exciting times!
  24. Once you have clicked subscribe to the database edits, you will need to close FM (if you have it open) and re-open it. Click on start new career mode and in the top right under "database" click on the box and there will be some tick boxes and you just tick the ones you want to use. Screenshot below to help.
