    If we're sitting here in 4 years' time and Trent still only has a handful of caps, then fair enough, but I think he'll be an ever-present (fitness permitting) for the next 3 or 4 tournament cycles. Walker is going to bow out, Trippier may well do so too, James is perma-crocked and TAA is at the head of the queue.

    Re: the celebrations, I think it's fine to say that the players are completely entitled to celebrate like they did given the situation and the stakes, and also to say that given the performance, fans can find it a bit cringe. But that doesn't mean the players are wrong or sold be embarrassed or anything like that.

    Yep, Venables leaving had absolutely zero to do with football. I am sure that had Venables not already had his jotters before the tournament started, he would have been kept on rather than replaced by Hoddle, because the players loved him, he played good football in the main, and the public were very much behind him.
