  1. Coaches stuck in the dark ages, woeful facilities, dire weather, and a pish domestic league are all factors.
  2. He wants to play for Scotland and he's put in a full shift every single time he's pulled on the jersey for us, so leave it out with the "actually Scottish" crap, will ye? He's Scottish enough for us.
  3. Well indeed, otherwise Southgate wouldn't have got the job himself.
  4. He's presumably being lined up for a punditry career now he's retired from playing, he's well-known to the English audience, and he has a tenuous connection to Scottish football that's much more important to the BBC than, er, actually being Scottish.
  5. To be fair, beating the top teams is actually less important in winning a league than it is in winning a tournament. In the league, being consistent is much more important (look at City this year for example - didn't beat Arsenal or Liverpool but still finished above both of them).
  6. What an odd but typically Pearcey thing to say. After all, England saw Hungary off a couple of years back, didn't they? Didn't they?
  7. I was going to say that it was pretty inevitable that the "Golden Generation" would end up embroiled in a shedload of scandal. They were at that intersection of crazy wages and the explosion of social media but before the dawn of proper media training, so no wonder they behaved badly and people found out. I think these days players have learned to keep things under wraps a lot more (and their clubs probably help them bury scandal too).
  8. Players should be allowed to boot pitch invaders up the arse
  9. I don't even think he's been out of form for Liverpool though? I just don't see an issue with his form. He's top class, he offers a hell of a lot and, should Walker pack it in, he's first choice RB for England. He doesn't need to play himself into contention, he's already there.
