Well gents I am down to a final game against Man City for the title.  Problem is it's away and they have been banging them in recently!!  I have got to win which is a shame because I reckon I could grab a goalless draw there.  So before I play I was wondering what others would do?  They generally play a 433/451 and I tend to go 4141.  I have a 4411 but I think I need a DM away from home.  Not sure whether to keep it tight and hope for a set piece and then have a go late on, or try and have a go from kick off and try to catch them off guard.  My lot seem better getting a goal up and holding on,.  My struggles tend to come from going behind and then trying to force a goal.  So fellow managers how would you go about this?

Personally mate, you can't expect a real answer for that. There's no detail on how city play, how you play, what your weak/vulnerable areas are and vice versa with Man City.

Who's their key player? Who's the top goal scorer? I'd personally place one of my best defensive midfielders on to man mark their main attacking threat.

But on the other note, that's one hell of a table!

  2. I'm trying to make a "english style" football. I choice Aston Villa because of their targets mans (Gestede and Kozak).

    Any tips to:

    1. force my wingers to dribble more?

    2. force wingers and fb to cross more?

My wingers avr dribble is around 3. Adama Traore who got PPM "Run with ball down right" got almost 5 avr. It's far away from my expectations. Im trying to make space for them by plying wide, and exploit the flanks. Is this good TI for this? or i misunderstand te "exploit the flanks" TI, and my team will build up play on the wings from deep?

About my 2 issue: I understand when I give up possesion, my opponents got more time with the ball and more chances to cross the ball, but its strange that a possesion based teams with lone striker without any jumping reach usually made more crosses than me. Any option to rise amount of crosses, without possesion?

    3. what mentallity and shape will suit my goals best and why?

    thanks for reply.

These are things you should be deciding in my opinion in regards to mentality and shape. What formation are you using as fundamentals? What player roles? You won't get the maximum effect of flank play if your formation and roles doesn't suit it.

  3. Say you're primarily a 'counter-attack' side and when playing teams that you are superior to technically/ability wise... what should you look to change? Especially if they set-up like a Pulis side.

In what ways 'in-game' do say a Simeone's Atleti and say a Palace counter attack side manifest themselves differently?

I'd change it to an attacking side with the defence dropped deeper to prevent the long balls, put more pressure on the opposition.

  4. So I been getting some good results now, when my team is fluid on my formation 442 and roles. Still a bit vulnerable against crosses but still better then earlier. I have a question about a problem: often my cd let the oppositions striker score without any marking(losing marking) very easy, I have my cd marking tight but still they often lose the marking, why is that and what can I do? Even with two cd around the striker they often seem to be just looking at the striker and let him score

Marking tight? Any other instructions such as tackle hard and etc? The defender issue could be down to his own attributes, concentration and etc. He may have as seen another player Un marked? Definitely need to see some screenshots or something mate.

  5. This is nice to follow. I'm trying to pull the same stunt with my Bristol Rovers save but due to their bad youth staff, facilities and very little shining prospects I have I will have to start from scratch to build it all up which is challenging and probably take 5 seasons to even get to a decent level of youth. This topic was actually what inspired me to start that aim in the save I'm currently on. Keep the updates coming.
