Fair observation, he’s doing well, clearly impressing the manager and don’t get me wrong that image you have as your profile with him canoodling Neymar is stuff of dreams as a Villa fan. He keeps the form up throughout the winter will be something to consider with the updates. But I think it could be due to fixture congestion, injuries or form of the said players for him to make it to 4 in a row.
However, be careful mate, he may just be this managers cup of tea and with the players you listed, they could all soon come in if the manager was replaced for example. Don’t forget Southgate keeps picking players like Harry Winks who isn’t playing for Spurs at the minute, doesn’t make a case for his CA to be above some players he is taking the place of like Ross Barkley ;).

One to keep an eye on though!

    Fair enough mate

  2. Point Douglas Luiz is not selected for the senior Brazilian national team in FM 21, probably as he doesn't compare to compatriots (Allan/Fernando/Fernandinho/Casemiro/Arthur) in the same position in terms of CA (I imagine, I have not looked at this). What to be done: Enable the AI to select to Luiz for the Brazilian national team. I am not suggesting Luiz is bumped to the CA of the players he is keeping out the national team as they are mostly Elite or World Class, so I get that my request may not be possible in FM21. Evidence: Douglas Luiz has started his 4th competitive senior international in a row, this time away at Uruguay (he was subbed off in the 92nd minute. Brazil have won all of these matches. Worth noting he is being heavily linked to move back to Man City . I imagine all these international appearances will help him secure the work permit he needs for that to happen.

To the best of my knowledge, 10th is an in-game media prediction and not necessarily indicative of the raw research.

Citing positions in the real life table now is a dead-end, only 8 games have been played. Leeds are 15th, were recently 5th and are three points off 7th. We have played both Liverpool and City in this time.

If anything, I believe I have been harsh on the Leeds team rather than generous - I would encourage you to check the posts in here regarding Leeds from others and in turn my responses. If you were to compare our squad with FM20, you will not see many significant improvements. Some of the better players by CA have been signed this Summer and whilst they are now under my jurisdiction I have not had enough exposure to them to make serious changes, up or down.

I think you say it yourself, you "haven't watched a whole lot of Leeds". Our recent results certainly suggest a poor team, but I would urge you to look further. Worth noting we beat Aston Villa (14th) 3-0.

Definitely worth noting, Seb. After all the mighty Aston Villa will be champions elect by pancake day! :D

Without. But he’s even slower on the ball. Like I’ve never seen him sprint past anyone and I’m not exaggerating. He’s genuinely fairly slow

Thank you. Now you have shown me you completely misunderstand partey’s profile and role within atletco’s team. Laughable that partey has 13 passing but Xhaka has what 18/19? Come on now.

Correlation doesn't = causation. Sure, it may be DS tactics causing the zero assists and poor pass accuracy, and Partey may post better figures under Arteta but until we have the data that's speculation.

  5. 3 minutes ago, _mxrky said:

Well I’ll just have to deal with vastly wrong stats then because of the previous researcher. I mean 13 passing and 13 technique makes me question seriously what player he was watching.

At least go look at the data from last season and see what evidence there is for him to get an increase in those stats. A cursory browse suggests a grand total of zero assists and a bang average passing accuracy of 83%. For context that's lower than any Arsenal midfielder in the 19/20 season.

  6. 9 minutes ago, _mxrky said:

Is it? His stats haven’t changed at all from fm 20 and players like doucoure, mctominay (who he played of the park literally 2 weeks ago) are legitimately better than him in game and have better attributes

Looking at the stats from this season Partey has done nothing that an Arsenal researcher could point to to suggest he deserves an increase, I'm sure he is going to be a great success at Arsenal and if that's the case in the short term perhaps he'll get an increase for the winter update. It's very normal however for a new player to be set by the previous researcher unless they do something significant form/stats wise before initial release. That's why I've pointed to actual stats from this season to argue for a Watkins increase. Go take a look at the stats and come back here if you find anything significant  https://www.whoscored.com/Players/238940/Show/Thomas-Partey

  7. This is a bit of a sentimental one but Peter Bonetti is listed as a Chelsea Icon. I was wondering if the Chelsea Researcher might consider upgrading him to a Legend? He passed away this year, would be a nice touch. I know winning 2 league cups, an FA cup and the cup winners cup is pretty small fry for Chelsea fans given events since 2003. However any Chelsea fan of a certain vintage will tell you Peter Bonetti will always be Chelsea's no 1.

I hope that you're all seeing an outdated version of Grealish in the beta (won't be playing it myself until Monday). If not, based on what some of you are posting Ronaldo and Messi need to be worrying about their spots as the best players in the world.

I think we are. Everything I've said is backed up by cold hard facts though. It's the likes of Klopp and Pep delving into the realm of hyperbole on the subject our Jack.

  9. @Im not MozzerIf he ever moves clubs I'm sure the team's researcher will think of something. On the diving it's a huge part of any elite attacking players game, people only mention it so much for Jack because he's fouled more than any other player in premier league history whilst playing for a team who rarely get the lions share of possession. That in its self should tell you something about his quality.

  10. @Simon Tipple Hi Simon, a bit of extra data here for your consideration. Your point is a fair one re tackles. A player maybe in the position where he's making a lot of tackles simply because of opposition movements, and his position relative to that. However, the data below also shows the amount of times he has been dribbled past which may contextualise his raw tackling stats a bit better.

  11. @MaBe7Kudos on your post. I share your disappointment with a few of the lad's attributes however: I think on McGinn: he has had some PPMs added that should help with his function in our system i.e. Likes to switch balls to wide areas. He is playing on the left of a double pivot with Luiz, so although I understand frustrations re some attributes like stamina I'm not sure how much impact that would have on his ability to more accurately reflect how he plays for us at present. He is rated as a good PL midfielder in the game, I can't really argue with that.

On Douglas: The improvements in his game have been considerable however I'm more inclined to think that's due to an improvement in defensive intelligence as he has gotten more familiar with the demands of the role he is being asked to perform, and his understanding of the English Language. I also feel the biggest strength of his game vis-a-vis how the team operates is actually his ability to accurately play a short-mid ranged direct progressive pass, under heavy pressure, out of defence to our forwards. This was vital to the devastating counter attacking play we saw against Liverpool. If you compare him to the elite players in the PL who play DMC/halfback he leads the way for the least inaccurate short passes for players to have played over 350 minutes: 3.3 InAccSP/90 (Comparison: Kante, Hojberg, over 6, Phillips/Rice/Rodri over 5) and compares favourably for key passes/90: 0.9 (Hendo: 0.7,Mendy: 0.3, Allan: 0.4, Rodri: 0/7). This is particularly impressive given he rarely passes it long at only 2.4. long balls per 90. The leading half back for key passes is Kalvin Phillips, who by comparison plays 5.4 long passes/90 and has 2 key passes/90.

Anyway, I feel this kind of quality is what has made him a starter for Brazil. Therefore if Luiz was to be buffed based on his 2020 performances and competitive international appearances, it's composure and passing attributes that I'd prefer to see prioritised. All data WhoScored.com: https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/2/Seasons/8228/Stages/18685/PlayerStatistics/England-Premier-League-2020-2021

Grealish/Watkins I'd done to death and do not wish to risk the wrath of the Stoke Researcher by going over old ground. Rest assured the AV researcher is quite aware of JG's quality, let's face it the whole SI team are football nerds like us, who doesn't love JG except envious Leeds fans? ;) Be amazed if he wasn't buffed before full release.

Can the United researchers just please explain their motivation behind the rating of Brandon Williams, United's THIRD CHOICE right and left back and why his stats are far superior to the first, second choices he is currently behind and far superior to other teams' first choices? 15 tackling is just unreal considering his overall ability in game compared to real life, where he very often struggles positionally and failed to close down his man almost every game he played and conceded chances constantly. Nothing against him and wouldn't mind a high PA, but his CA is insane.

Is he really a better player than Shaw? Because his stats suggest so. Right now Brandon Williams is, in game, legitimately a better player than Kyle Walker.

Also; Mason Greenwood should get a professionalism nerf and his off the field issues should not be reflected as an elite professional with a resilient personality in game, but I'll reserve judgement until I have access to his hiddens ;)

Pogba should have been downgraded significantly on work rate and determination similar to how Özil was but at least his concentration is just 10. Overall United looks as good as they have in long time RELATIVE to real life so credit on that, not trying to complain.

But Brandon Williams is about 10 times as good in the game as he is irl. He doesn't even make United's match day squad and is third choice at best for both his positions and he shouldn't be a CURRENTLY rated top 5 FB in the PL. It's absurd. Downgrade his positioning, decisions and tackling, marking and overall mentals please.

Other than that I think the forums should provide a message for first time posters explaining how CA/PA works and why pacey players can't have 'fair' or completely accurate stats across the board since it would break the match engine. Although I understand the reluctance to be reactionary in improving ratings after a good spell or transfer, I'd slightly up his physicals since we can actually quantitatively see his physicals are underrated, while keeping his technical/mentals/pressures low. But no real complaints.

Anyhow Arsenal researchers; Sokratis Papastathopolous' contract expires in 2021, according to most sources, is his '22 contract a mistake or where is this from? Also Balogun doesn't have an extention clause as suggested by the game. (https://theathletic.co.uk/1896994/2020/06/29/ornstein-nathan-ake-manchester-city-balogun-arsenal-liverpool-chris-morgan/)

I agree that Williams looks a bit too good. I'm not as passionate about it as you but I agree.

The above CA/consistency ranks are for the top 16 players in each squad (that’s the standard we typically use). I’ll try and work values for first XIs when I’m on my lunch in a minute but can say without checking that City/Liverpool will still be way out in front.

Fair enough, I thought it would be the entire squad. Nerfs to Telles and Canvani might do the trick then. Still, it would be interesting to hear. Eating on lunch is important too however!

Response to this and those following up on it - don’t want to give away too much as I know some don’t like to read CAs, but United are ranked fifth on average CA in the PL, 16th on average consistency and OGS is ranked joint 18th among PL managers. All of those ratings are a long way off the obvious top two. Everyone will have their view on underrated and overrated players but I don’t believe there’s anyone there with a CA that can’t be very easily justified.

I do agree that we’re overperforming at the moment and we’re trying to get to the bottom of why that is. I think the above shows it’s not a case of ‘blinkered’ research or anything like that - they’re the ratings of a team with the talent to push for top 3/4 but major consistency issues and a manager a bit out of his depth. That seems fair to me - we did finish third last season after all (and most of the ratings will be based on that rather than early stages of a new season that has been plain weird so far - if you cite us being in 14th then you have to look at City, Arsenal etc as well).

We’ve made some changes to Cavani and Telles that will filter through when an update happens - usually no changes are made to players transferred in as we trust the prior researchers, but those two seem to be specifically overperforming so they have been revised. There have been some small changes to Pogba as well, even though his performances in tests have been generally pretty average.

Feedback I’ve got this this morning is that there are issues with forward players at some of the bigger clubs (City, Liverpool, Chelsea) and those teams as a whole majorly underperforming in terms of goal/assist output and xG/chances created, whilst the equivalent numbers at United/Arsenal have been in line with what is expected (certainly tallies with my test games). No idea why this is but it’s being looked at and will hopefully be addressed. What we’re not going to do is ‘nerf’ player ratings across the board as some are demanding, given that they have been reviewed at several stages over the summer/autumn with no issues or complaints.

There’s no desire to overrate players (or pressure on me to do so, as someone suggested) - if anything I’d lean the other way as I’d rather have a challenge and the realism of a necessary rebuild than an easy time of it.

The other thing I’d say which is a persistent issue over the last few years is there is no real way of reflecting just how dysfunctional the Woodward/Judge approach to squad building is in the game and how big a part that plays on us underperforming in real life. Almost every summer you know where United need to strengthen and they fail to do it - you can’t really make that happen in FM. In my tests United almost always go out and get a quality CB or DM early on/in January - only way of stopping that happening would be to remove the transfer budget, but that wouldn’t be accurate and would cause uproar.

Apologies for the long post anyway. I do agree there’s an issue, as do SI, but some of the comments about the issue are hugely inaccurate or plain ignorant to be honest.

This is just a theory so if this is nonsense my apologies but perhaps the issue is the starting 11 CA is not 5th, but the overall squad is. A starting 11 of De Gea, AWB, Telles, McGuire, Lindelof, McTominay, Pogba, Fernandes, Rashford, Canvani, Martial seems otherworldly on the CA front.  Therefore if Man Utd do not get injury issues, they walk the league?

You're looking at a Forest data file that is old, because you are looking at the BETA. We've been working on the data in the last two weeks, and have now hard-coded Hefele and Clough to be in the u23s.

With Forest having such a massive squad (or ordinary players) someone will get placed in the U23s. We're still tweaking the data to ensure the best balance,. Thanks for your observations, @GaribaldiRed and @Glenroy.

We'll work in-house in sorting them out for the Release version of the game.

However, phrases like "Worrall's stats are the same as they were three years ago" are plain wrong. Posts that use such nonsense will be deleted from here on in. Worrall appears in the first-team in the savegame I have loaded up from this morning's latest build, so he'll be fine in the Release.

Colback wages. Wages are down across the board this year.

Ioannou - was rated by the Cypriot researchers. We havent seen enough of him to go increasing his attributes by the necessary amount to get him a start.

Soh - seems quite fairly rated for a 19-year-old with only five league career appearances. He's got huge potential, also evident in the database. Play the game and develop him, he'll do fine for you.

The sheer size of the squad and the wage bill means the AI wants to loan a few out.

Hi Dean/Rob, is Matty Cash going to/has been reworked/altered as part of this work? @robterrace

I think someone has left Ollie Watkins from Championship start last season.  One he is down as a championship level player when clearly he is definitley not, he is not a left winger although he can play there, a proper number 9 played for Brentford and villa this season but the stats say got potential to be premier league left winger.  Pace and accerleration is definitley off as he is rapid too. Also if you seen his displays he plays very agressively with back to defenders so agression 9 appears to be incredibly harsh.  Just think researcher has not considered any sort of form or abilities from last year or so from these stats.  Thanks

    image.thumb.png.6450886a7dd7209ebdb2b37ccf1d6ffd.png

The Brentford research has improved Watkins a bit from last season finishing is up 1 and his mentals are a bit better too. I had a discussion with him earlier in this thread and gave some evidence re Watkins physical and heading attributes, he seemed open to discussion. It's possible Watkins will be improved before release, but if not we'll have to wait til the March 2021 update.

  17. 17 minutes ago, V3ntricity said:

That's just speculation, interest is not the same as action (I completely disagree that Wijnaldum would be good. He was nothing special before joining Liverpool). I doubt Ndidi would have 19 in tackling if he was playing for Leeds, without affecting the rest of his stats. That is why Grealish is not rated as good. It would be a problem for the balance, even though we know he is realisticly a top player.  We hardly ever see a world class player playing outside a top club, even though realistically they all came from somewhere (and where they were just as good).  Average players moving to top clubs becomes better than good players playing outside top clubs in game (i just think it's a bit odd, but i understand the game engine could be broken if I had my way).

It's about balance. Understandable of course, but it's frustrating as someone who likes to play as the team you support. Average-good players at clubs like Arsenal will be better than quality players at your club. At Villa Douglas Luiz is a poorer player than Mo Elneny despite being in the Brazilian Nation Team, and being excellent since project restart, Mings is a poorer centre back than Holding despite being in the England Squad. TBF Grealish is really good in the game since the FM20 March update, but he has took it to a new level this year, hence the England recognition. I would recommend playing as a club you don't have a care for until the full release where there maybe buffs that reflect the start of this season.

  18. 26 minutes ago, Brentford Alan said:

And a couple of other atts, his CA has also increased. Again, you NEED to point out which attributes are incorrect and why otherwise I doubt anything will be changed.

When OW left Brentford he was a very good Championship striker and is rated as such, there were no guarantees he'd be a success at his new level. He has the PA to become a decent Premier League striker, as he is doing in real life.

I've pointed out under valued stats re Grealish and Cash and provided evidence to back it up is that the sort of thing you are looking for? To further evidence this Grealish's top speed has been reported as in the top 6 this season via OptaJoe @35.1 km/h

Watkins I would suggest: Heading 12>14, Work rate 13>16, Acceleration 13 > 15, Pace 14 > 15, Jumping 11>13, Strength 12 > 14 . I feel that would reflect his abilities better without going OTT after 7 PL games and his amazing season last year. Evidence? Well he won Championship player of the year and scored 26 goals without penalties, was coveted by Leeds and Spurs and was sold for up to £33 million. I don't have this top speed in km per hour, or amount of ground covered per 90 I'm afraid but these are his stats from last season: https://twitter.com/Other14The/status/1303642213105258497/photo/1. Note the 65% headed duel wins re heading improvements, as well as his headed goals his season, 2 already.  I've found an article on the Athletic website which is well researched. Highlights include:

"Pre-season training would often make for interesting viewing when Watkins was involved as he consistently topped the charts for speed, stamina, high-intensity sprints and a stack of other metrics. Brentford’s programme editor, Chris Deacon, tells The Athletic: “Ollie transformed himself into a physical specimen. We’d call him a      machine because it looked like he would set himself into third gear and then cruise along at the front while everyone else was blowing...

It will come as a surprise to many that, among Premier League forwards, only Oli McBurnie (22) Andy Carroll (22) Dominic Calvert-Lewin (17) and Chris Wood (16) have won more headers then Watkins (15) this season. Maybe more telling is that, of those strikers, recognised for their aerial dominance, only Carroll (22 won, 10 lost) has a better win-to-lose ratio in headed duels."

  19. 9 minutes ago, Brentford Alan said:

Ollie Watkins has had an attribute update (as did Jack Grealish, I've checked our database) during the summer. I'm sure should OW continue his success he'll be updated either before full release if you could point to specific errors or for the winter update.

Grealish was updated in March which was great. I don't see any difference between that and this release however. If players are updated before full release then obviously fair enough but to wait to March to get a more accurate representation of player ability is unreasonable to me. Watkins is not even rated as a Premier League Striker at present, and our tough tackling full back can't tackle.
