  1. Two new series, not the traditional style of videos but post-recorded and covering a much longer period of the season each:

    • Chelsea Academy Challenge: Trying to be as successful as possible with Chelsea with an academy focused policy
    • Pride of Anglia: And East Anglian journeyman, starting in Tier 6 with the aim being to win the treble
  2. Looking for a laptop which would be used solely for playing FM. I have a desktop for my main playing and video recording but would like something portable to be able to get through the in between bits without being stuck upstairs.

Graphics don't matter as I'd only be playing on 2D on it. I have 8 countries loaded. I don't care about crazy loading speeds but obviously don't want each continue to take 10 minutes.

I don't want to spend loads but recognise that I'll need to spend a fair amount. I am happy investing in something which will be able to run the games reasonably for many years to come. I'm a tightwad so don't want to spend more than £300 but I am assuming that won't cut it, so am 'happy' to go to £500-£600 and perhaps beyond.

    Any advice would be appreciated

  3. Not bitter/it's a team game etc. But seriously how are these calculated? I assume reputation plays a part? Monthly awards seem to be purely based on how many points you get but the yearly one makes no sense. I just won the Scottish Premiership, unbeaten, with Celtic. Now yeah obviously it's Celtic so it's expected but, Gerrard just got the Football Writer's Manager of the Year. They've had a fantastic season and we only won the league because we managed to win all four Old Firms, but surely in reality I'd have won? I know it's not as special as Rodgers did it a few years ago, but still.

I know it doesn't matter but I'm just curious if anyone can explain because I've had plenty of baffling wins/loses in this regard over the years.

  4. Has been long in need of a major overhaul. Some suggestions:

    1. There needs to be at the very very least the option to rest players between international games. I can see why having full training for internationals might cause issues (it should still be entirely workable though). But the rest is a must. If my club side can play three games in a week with minimal fitness complications, my international side shouldn't all be about to die 10 minutes after kick off because they played a game 4 days ago. It is not realistic to have to fully rotate your side for a World Cup quarter final (and it doesn't really help anyway).

    2. Getting a job should have some flexibility. Right now you get offered a job and that's it it's a yes or no. I was offered the Italy job while I was in the middle of a tournament with Mexico. I wanted it but I also wanted to win the Gold Cup. In reality, I would simply have said to the Italian FA "hey guys, yes please but I'll take over after this competition is done" because there is literally no reason why you'd have to instantly take over.

    3. The "suggested squad" from your assistant could be so much better. If it was laid out against your formation it would be helpful so you can easily see who your assistant thinks fits where rather than just a list. All suggested changes could then have a clear reason right next to the suggestion like "poor club form", "fits the tactic" or "cap before he declares for Sweden" etc. This would hopefully address the randomness of it whereby the assistant constantly suggests way too many players in certain positions and too few in others. I was managing England and Steve Holland concluded we should call up 0 left backs but we needed four strikers despite only playing one. And in another save I am managing Australia and my assistant repeatedly says we shouldn't call up this guy:

Despite him being the greatest player in Australian history.

  5. Was managing Kidderminster and was offered the Plymouth job in January, taking over at the end of the season (20th May). Completed the season with Kidderminster, winning the Vanarama North title and getting promoted. Meanwhile, Plymouth got relegated to League Two. Because I took over before the league reset date (24th June) I am now being credited for a relegation I had nothing to do with.

Meanwhile this seems totally bugged up, saying I haven't won a league or been promoted, even though I have.

  6. Can only echo this. My goalkeeper in particular just constantly boots the ball aimlessly despite having shorter passing, distribute to full backs/centre backs as instructions. And the rest of the team aren't much better. Set passing to the shortest possible and in the next highlight every single pass was a ridiculous punt to nowhere.

  7. Sorry if this isn't the right place for this but I've just started a save with Norwich and was confused as to why they are apparently set to fail FFP. Obviously it's the start of the season so things may sort themselves out but given they spent very little money in the PL, have taken £40m in sales from Godfrey and Lewis, plus the parachute payments, and overall being one of the most sustainable clubs in the country, I really don't think this makes any sense. Looking at the accounts stuff I can see where the loss over 2 years has come from, but there's literally nothing anywhere I can see suggesting Norwich will fail FFP. Everything is very positive about their finances.

  8. Three things which I would really like for next year (or preferably this year if possible for 1 or 2 at least) that have been issues for as long as I've been playing.

    1. The ability to rest players between international matches. I understand not having training for international teams as I assume this could cause conflicts with what they are assigned at a club level, but at the very least we need to be able to rest them. As inadvisable as it may be from an injury perspective, you can play the same club 11 three times a week and - if you rested them - they will start with full fitness. Yet in an international tournament with nearly a week between games, the players are dead on their feet after one match because they just don't rest or recover.

    2. When a player gets an injury before a big cup match there's an article which generates saying they'll miss it. But this always generates whatever the injury is. Even if it's minor and they'll obviously be able to play. Even if you give them an injection. Just had Tomori get a calf strain before the FA Cup final. I gave him an injection. But then bam, 'Tomori to miss final', his morale drops, and the question you get gives no option to say 'he's fine', you just have to agree. He played the full 90 minutes. At the very least I'd like to be able to tell the journalist that the player will be able to play.

    3. Job interviews make no sense when the club has approached you. Questions like 'why are you looking to leave?' etc. are fine if you've applied, but if they've approached you the interview should at least partly be their attempt to persuade you to want to manage their club.
