I like playing in somewhat of a new world. I select fake players only, but since that only masks real players with fake names I holiday for around 25 years so that everyone retires, and true generated players are around. This makes the game a lot more unknown since you can't rely on the same players as you do every save. This also makes some teams rise and others fall, so I create a manager that has the favorite team as a former big team that is now on mid table position or worse. Then I start with that manager on a lower league like a journeyman save and try to make my way to the top or to this team I favorited. Even if I go to the top I try to take the opportunity to join this favorited team to try to make them world class again unless it would be too unrealistic to switch to them (say you are on first division and this team is like on second or third division). For example, on FM16 that was Dortmund on one of my saves, they were on mid to low table on Bundesliga after a few decades. I set Dortmund as a favorite and started on some lower league teams and changed to mid table teams over the years until I got to Man UTD and won a few leagues and trophies at the top level. Finally, there was a vacant spot at Dortmund, and I roleplayed as my manager wanted to go there because it was their childhood club and were they played as a player in the past and they wanted to restore and improve Dortmund. After I got there it took a few seasons to make them into a world class team. That was one of my favorite saves I've had on FM. Looking forward to FM25 so I can do this again.

Yeah, I was also hoping for it this year, but at least now we know exactly when we're getting it. Plus Unity and other things are coming so it will be nice, but still a long wait.

I'm only waiting for women's football really, very excited about it. Last one I got is FM20 and no feature since seemed significant enough to make me buy a newer one. I hope they include it this year.
