It would be nice if you could at least tell the DOF which position you need to buy in, or what kind of player etc.  That would be much closer to real life.

Yeah, this is how I hope they do it in the future. Have a meeting with the DoF and set some goals. "Sign a creative midfielder." "Sign striker depth." etc. A bad DoF or one in a bad situation will still have trouble fulfilling the goals, but it would at least make the process feel less random.

Oh dear, you look so short defensively! It does seem the DoF's in FM19 generally sign more players in positions you don't need. I've found that more difficult than FM18 to be honest.

Could he not be a candidate at left back, particularly in home games you expect to attack in?

This would be the biggest thing on my FM wish list. I'd love for the DoF to have the competence/ability to adjust the budgets themselves & work with the board on the financial side of the transfer window. At present, they just stop signing if the wage budget goes over, even if there's 30m remaining in the transfer budget!

With the devs taking the stance that the game is about being a manager, you would think they would want to start taking away more of the DoF responsibilities from the player.

I've been working on some lower league NZ leagues (down to level 6 in my region). One thing that genuinely excites me is that, in FM 19,  where players are auto-generated,  there seems to be a much more noticeable difference in player abilities in lower reputation clubs and divisions .  In my NZ example, players in level 6 now seem to be noticeably weaker than players in level 4. In FM 2018, there was very little difference between the teams., all the way up to the 2nd tier.

It is an incredibly small sample size. But, if what I'm seeing is correct, it is going to make a level 22 save even more fun this time around.

    That would be fantastic!

If you wanted to hide attributes a bit more in combination with this, you could use visual attributes instead? It's a preference in the game settings. Hiding them completely involves editing xml panel files.

Yeah, I experimented with that once before. I couldn't get all of them and gave up. I think I'll give this a try though as I never considered hiding the CA and PA.
