I think this is it with the series for me now. I regret purchasing this, as I regretted purchasing FM23. The match engine looks better but the AI is just terrible with tactics and squad building. The game is just no fun and it feels not enough is being done to fix things. The series needs a rewrite from scratch, completely scrapping what they have now, and starting from a blank slate. -

Just finished my first season as Leeds. Scored 147 goals in the league. Well and truly excessive. High scoring victories include 5-1 against Preston, 5-0 against Watford, 5-1 against Stoke, 7-0 against Coventry, 5-1 against Ipswich, 6-2 against Swansea and 6-2 against Southampton. Hopefully it will be different in the Prem. Perhaps it’s all down to morale? -

Now 20 out of 27 Championship games that my team have scored at least 3 goals, 5 of which my team have scored 5 or more goals. Whilst the match engine is nice to watch, I really hope the number of goals is resolved for the main release. 2 of my keepers are out with broken arms. It is good that keepers now get injured but I will need to keep an eye on it to see if it is excessive. -

As a human player, mine is a lot higher than IRL. My team have scored 3 or more goals in 15 out of 22 Championship games so far. 4 of which have seen me score 5 or more goals; 5-1 against Preston, 5-0 against Watford, 5-1 against Stoke, 7-0 against Coventry. -

Yeah, whilst there seems to be too many goals in games in general, my team are scoring from at least one corner or free kick each game. -
I think the beta version of the match engine was the best version for this season’s game. This match engine seems a joke. Whilst there is more variety, it is just not realistic at all. I just beat Man City 5-0 with Leeds. It was a fairly standard pressing 4-4-2 setup. We were the better team. Enzo Le Fee was the only player not at the club in real life. There is no way that the game should have played out like that. On a separate note, I really hate the UI and think it takes too many clicks to get where you want to go. I hope it has a major revamp next season. It is time the graphics have a major overhaul too, they seem to have gone backwards.

I have only noticed it with Leeds but there have been some crazy swings there too. The updates to stats seem reactive to current form and are not indicative of the ability over a period of time. Rodrigo Moreno, for example, has had his finishing increased. He has had a purple patch this season and is Leeds’ top scorer. The form should not have warranted a change in stats, particularly as the updated stats are based over such a short period of time. The opposite has happened with Bamford. He is going through a goal draught at the moment in real life. His confidence is suffering. However, his finishing has been dropped from around 15 to 11. The stat is again based on form rather than capability. I would argue that his finishing should have never been as high as it was but it shouldn’t be quite as low as 11. FM isn’t normally so reactive to updating player stats based on form, so I wonder what has changed this year.
