Not sure if this is the right page. I’m looking for either 1 wide(34+ inch) or 2 regular(24-27) inch monitors to both work and stream fm. Ideally they’re height adjustable as they’ll go over my works laptop and the laptop I use for FM. Any advice is great and budget is around 400 quid or 800 for the one wide screen one. Regards James

If you want to get a MacBook, quite simply get the highest spec you can afford, as you can't upgrade the spec on it at all once you've chosen the model you want without buying an entirely new one.
Would suggest a mac over a similar priced windows laptop then?

Which MacBook Pro would you suggest if anyone plays on it? Looking to get one in the summer for general use and FM obviously. Interested to know how people find the FM experience as it’s top of all the benchmarking on site

Anyone own a MacBook? What’s the best specs to buy for playing FM and as an all round laptop

been an avid player of FM for many years however have struggled with lag on the new version for a long time. I suffer from autism & ocd so I’m quite picky when it comes to things being right however on this version it hasn’t been. Have had 2 gaming laptops 1 Intel I7 the other AMD Ryzen which have both struggled to run the game without lag. Both these laptops are £1000+ gaming machines which should easily run a game of this issue without any major issues. Don’t know if it’s just me or not but I’ve tried to change pretty much every setting going and still the issues persist so much that I’ve had to send the laptops back at a loss. Starting to think it’s the game and not the laptop issue.
Any help would be appreciated. The laptops are both 120HZ plus screens and have dedicated Nvidia 3500 and 4000 graphics cards.
Am happy to do any testing you need to make the game as good as it can bejust posting this in here to see if anyone else has similar examples.
Regards James

That system should manage everything maxed without breaking a sweat.
Not sure whether the fact that the game is hardcoded to cap at 60FPS would cause issues on displays with higher refresh rates, but if it did then I'm sure it'd be something I'd already heard of, and I haven't.
I have put a post in the match engine issues thread if you want to take a look

Interesting. Might have to put it in the si forums to check

1) Check you graphics card drivers are all up to date.
2) Check the game is using the dedicated graphics card and not the integrated GPU.
3) Check game settings for things like refresh rate.
I can't imagine why that system would be having frame rate issues for FM.
What settings would you suggest on the match engine?

Hi all. Update to this I’ve sold the Lenovo and am on the hunt for a new laptop. Seen the M2 pro outperform most gaming laptops on FM and was thinking of moving to the MacOS. Budget will stretch with 20% off employee discount from my work. Other 2k alternatives welcome but if I can find something that maxes performance, smooth graphics at all times and is quiet I’ll be happy. Got non of these out of the Lenovo Legion 5i

Could it be due to the processor/graphics almost being too good for the game and unable to run at a high frame rate, or is it because the high graphics only run at a minimum frame rate and the 144hz screen is refreshing too quickly for the game causing the jitter. Any advice/info would be helpful, before I send it back.

Mac M2 would be fantastic, but they are pricey. If you only want it for FM and can afford to pay, go for it. No x86 processor can give you the combination of processing power and efficiency.
Cheers. Just a bit wary of the GPU. Is that good enough to run FM smoothly? Or is it just about the processor

Sorry to bother you again. Been finding the laptop is really jittery when playing FM. Legion 5(AMD Ryzen 7 5700H, NVIDIA 360 RTX) Not sure what's causing it and its making me fall out of love with the game. laptop set to performance mode and still finding it jitters in the 3D engine(Probably frame rate). Am I better off selling the laptop and getting something with less/similar specs which I hope would run the game better as I think its cost me too much money for not the results I wanted. Happy to message directly if anyone can help
Thanks James

The more I read around the harder it is to find a genuinely quiet gaming laptop. ASUS TUF is one that’s apparently better as well as the HP Omen. The others are way out of my price range. Would getting a non gaming laptop help with the noise issue and would that impact FM performance.

The fans being noisy is perhaps to be expected on a gaming laptop, but there is no reason that the 3D graphics should be choppy with an RTX 3060 graphics card, unless there is some kind of fault with the hardware.
Make sure your laptop is using the RTX 3060 to output the video signal rather than the integrated Radeon graphics using the guide linked above.
EDIT: Increasing the RAM shouldn't have any real effect on FM's performance, but will allow for more programs to be running at once if you like to multitask.
Thanks for your reply. Do you have any idea if a laptop is out there with similar specs(happy to be slightly lower) if it meant a quieter fan during gameplay. The fan noise is bad even when the laptop is on the home screen with nothing running. So it’s just a massive annoyance when using the laptop. Attached the sound made when nothings open on the laptop

Afternoon These are the specs for the Lenovo Legion 5 Laptop(Legion 5-15ACH6H Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 82JU) I bought last Christmas to mainly play FM. However I have found it really noisy(Jet engine like) and thus have found it basically unplayable. Anyone got any advice for either a replacement(If i can sell the lenovo) which has similar specs. Would increasing the RAM improve the performance of the game? Find it struggles sometimes in the 3D graphics mode to be completely smooth and it is sometimes choppy, even on the highest performance settings on the laptop.
Thanks for all your help. James
