These 8 game months are driving me crazy!
Honestly! The cramming of half a season into two months is horrific. We get basically no time to train, no time to rest or recover, and meanwhile our opponents are all professional so they have vastly more fit squads. Not to mention my team isn't good enough to do a mass rotate.
So, enough complaining...
Brutal month.
A draw with RFS was inspiring, after the last month I had high hopes. But I'll be damned if it wasn't a fluke.
Winning against Jelgava is a given. They are so far off the pace it's not funny.
Seems like 1st and 10th are already locked. But the rest is ridiculously close.
Luckily my players are really here to fight it out and make a push for... damnit!

Season 2
Early season odds don't look too awful, considering we lost two of our best players I'm not heartbroken.
I am sticking with my 4-2-2-2 formation, it seemed to do what I was wanting and we didn't struggle.
After an uneventful preseason, in which I decided to do a bunch of low reputation games to build morale, we started the season off with a bang.
Took points of Riga, which is worth more than the win vs Liepaja to me, but really a solid start to the season.
Yikes.
Two points off second place and three points off 8th... Really thought that start was good.
The team is playing well, and I'm happy. Also one of our Youth academy players impressed on his debut. An average of 7.00 in 0 (6) games, not bad at all.
Season is off to a great start, players are playing well, and morale is high. If there was a season to make Europe...

FOUR points? From three games? Glad to see you're back on top form!

End of the Season
And with that I'm already done with this season, felt very quick I hope it stays as quick for a while, could enjoy reaching 2123.
So fixtures...
The Youth intake was at September 30th, so focusing that post on just that made sense, but really probably should have updated the league too. Well, it was a struggle. Picked up some wins against the teams around us, lost to the big boys, and lost to some of the competition. Needless to say Europe is off the table now.
Tukums are relegated and RFS are champions. Hardly surprising. 6th place was pretty nice, scraped a few good wins and ended close enough to Europe that I'm pretty happy with that. Our system wasn't problematic and I like scoring plenty of goals, I feel like it always give you a chance to win.
Still though, no players are developing much, a few gained a single point, but on the whole not much. I'll keep it in mind going forward, I, and probably most of you, had saves on FM22 that had no growth for a decade.
Speaking of players...
Klava was really good, for a 16 year old, and our strikers were on form. Not much to complain about. Well there's our defense, but nothing I can really do about that.
Seeing the Annual Revenue made me curious about our financial situation.
So, yeah. For a team that's not professional, this is a massive disappointment. Managing to bleed out 200k over a year is hardly good, we need money to become professional, and we need to be professional to make anything of our team.
This could become a real problem.
No Youth players here, which is to be expected but still not pleasant.
A few of our better players want to leave us, their full-time contract ran out and they simply refuse to consider a part-time. So goodbye to our 3rd and 4th best performing players this season.
In better news lets look into European adventures for our compatriots.
Riga nearly made it to groups, with some luck they will make it soon, then our coefficient will fly up.
Never seen a "Happy to be here." before, clearly it doesn't help our situation, but at least it's not a simple "No money, get lost!"

Youth Intake Day
What am I looking for, honestly I'm not sure, I'd love some cover at left and right back, I'd love a star player somewhere in the middle...
So from this screenshot you can see 4... 4 strikers, and none of the top talents jump off the page, screen, so am I happy or impressed? Lets take a look.
I decided to organize this screen from PCA rather than PPA mainly because none of these player will reach their potential. As of this intake not a single player in any of my squads has had a single point of growth in any stat. Considering I'm semi-pro, have terrible facilities, and bad coaches, I doubt that's a surprise. But none of those factors will be changing any time soon. So Current Ability is king.
What I see here isn't great. But the actual attributes are more important.
Honestly Jevgenjis Ostrovskis doesn't look too bad. He is well rounded for a 16 year old, but that's not terrible. High team work and work rate is to be commended too. Just a shame he plays on the wing.
Kristians Treimanis is cut of the same cloth, perhaps a little more suited to being a speedy winger, regardless a decent player in a position I'm not using.
Artjoms Gorkšs... Give this guy a bucket of potential and I'd be heading straight down the alter. However, he's not going to grow much, so those yellow's are going to be wasted. Still, I'm more than comfortable throwing him in a rotated 11. Ought to earn some appearances over the years.
Antons Gorkšs, The Unofficial twin, is about as good as it gets, which really is to say, not very good at all. Nothing to scoff at, I could have gotten a lot worse, and hes decent enough in a position I use too... I just wish he did something a bit better. Either creativity or physically, but you get what you get. He will be getting game time, no doubt about it.

An Upturn In Fortune
The seasons here in Latvia are busy, very busy, to the point where my players are constantly exhausted. Our minimal training days are cut short from the games we need to play, being a semi-pro team certainly doesn't help. And despite that...
Three wins in the league and a cup victory. Not bad at all for a 6 week stint. But that's not all.
Klava continues to break records, though not a stand out player he is contributing to this team already.
And how this happened is beyond me, we aren't rich, actually we are losing money, but they only went and said yes. Not about to complain though.
Where does all this nonsense leave us, I hear you ask, well...
Just off the pace for a spot in Europe. The goal difference is a thing, but ignore that. The table is still tight, but we are not in a relegation scrap and we could push on and make something amazing out of this season with some good form.
The cherry on top.

Good luck, achieving those goals would be something... if only you were interested in a longer, more ambitious, save.

Mid-Season
This really followed the start of the season, with our form being all over the place. Two more losses again to RFS and Riga... feel like that's going to become a motto of this save.
Though looking at the league table, I'm pretty content.
The board wanted a mid-table finish and it looks very possible, and honestly Liepaja are catch-able. Tukums are having a howler, which I can't pretend I'm not delighted about.
We are still conceding a lot, and our scoring has calmed down a bit; though it's hard to keep up with the big teams. One thing I've noticed is that teams have really odd schedules, at one point i was three games ahead of Valmiera, but they seemed to catch up after a busy week... so I hope they just had a random blip with Europe or something...
Here's a glance at the squad. I use the instant result "feature" so my attachment and knowledge of these players is limited. But, Klava dropped off a bit, and a few others picked up the slack. Still waiting on that one player to grab my attention. Also been having to drag the occasional B team player into the squad with suspensions and all that fun stuff, which is why Regza is listed, among others. All in all I'm content, not over-awed, but certainly not unhappy.
Which my "supporters" seem to agree with.

A New Season
I debated with showing pre-season, but it's harmless... scared me though, both teams were youth teams. Left me feeling like my system was a mistake, or at least not very good.
The first three games of the Virsliga reinforced that to me, things did turn around with wins over Tukums and our senior affiliate, not sure how that works....
A busy start leaves us in 6th, not bad and there's a clear gap from us and the relegation places. I'm glad to see us scoring a lot of goals, second highest in the league, which considering our strikers are our best players leaves me content. We don't speak about how many we've conceded, the second highest in... damn!
At least two of our four losses were against Riga and RFS, both teams I consider to be powerhouses.
In this bunch of games a few players stood out to me, Eduards Višņakovs had a bucket of goals which earned us a good few points. And a young man, Einārs Kļava. A 16 year old AMC who got 3 assists and a goal, his attributes are poor, but his performances were stellar. I wish I had gotten a screenshot of him here, but I didn't think about it.

Welcome!
Here's the ugly screenshots, showing the database and manager stats...
Why Latvia?
Hi, I'm Palkey, and this year I've decided to start my FM journey with a Latvian team. This is my first time making a topic for my save, so there will be some growing pains no doubt, but hopefully nothing too egregious happens. I'm no stranger to Youth Academy Challenges, having done them for 10 years or so... from the Welsh wilds to Danish divisions. This time i wanted to enjoy a league a bit outside of the norm, as such I chose one of the newest additions, Latvia.
Not many teams to choose from here, only 10 playable and I don't want to start at a top team, and regardless with a team called "Super Nova" to choose... well the rest is history.
Super Nova
Unlike a real Supernova we aren't massive here, but there's plenty of potential to grow into a massive super power then collapse under the pressure... There are a few dominant teams in the league so no doubt it'll take a while to reach those cosmic levels of success, though the journey ought to be fantastic.
The media clearly agree with me, though i have no real knowledge of the league or teams. The board though... slightly more ambitious.
Mid-table! The nerve!
Squad & Tactics
Team is promising at a glance, but there are a few issues. First we have a huge depth in key positions, plenty of strikers, center-backs, and defensive-mid's. Secondly, we have a few full-time players, though none of them will resign due to us being a semi-pro team and being unable to offer full-time contracts. (yay!)
Here's a few players I like the look of:
And so, this is how I intend to set-up. I dislike tinkering once the season starts, and tactical familiarity will do most of the work. My defense is not too inspiring, but it should be off-set with the two defensive DMs. I've never been a huge tactics guy, so don't expect too much mention of it, maybe just a mention here or there.
My Expectations
This season will be very telling, from the looks of it my best players are pretty good but not exceptional. My worst players however do not look good enough by a fair margin. There's only a single relegation spot in the league, so I'm comfortable thinking that's not where we will end, but I could see us struggling.
The cup will likely be hugely out of our reach, RFS and Riga are two of the best teams in the league and they look really good.
Also last years version of the game made development a rough task, with Super Nova being; semi-pro, in a poor league, being poor financially and being managed by yours truly, I don't see things being easy. Europe early on would be nice, but I fear we might need time considering we are newly promoted.
All in all, I'm excited. And I hope my detailing of this save is as enjoyable for you lot too.

These seasons are so rough, but you seem to be solidly ahead of the auto relegation place. Shouldn't be too long til you're in that top half... hopefully. On that note, any junior coaching improvements of late, can't remember seeing any.
Andrew Caulfield has been a rare delight. Going to be a very sad day when he hangs up his boots.

we need just one more point to reach our 38 game total from the last time we were in the league!
Well, you had to go and say it didn't you...
Congrats on the promotion, been enjoying this save loads. From what i can tell it doesn't look like your players are developing much at all, at the best just shuffling a few points around, if that is the case mad respect for keeping the grind going and actually making it back.0 -
This is where things start to get really scary, lets hope you have enough "Good faith" built up with El Presidente to avoid a catastrophe

Season 5 update
This season friends, this damn season.
Early on this year felt different, only lost to the other teams on 20+ points, fairly dominant against the bottom half. I think John Olesen was like 50% of our goals at this point
Lyngby started to fall off somehow, every time I checked however they had the top scorer in the league.
Here I started to panic. 7 points from 6 games, and Lyngby caught right back up. and Viborg were pretty solid so they quickly made things extremely tense.
Neck and neck.
\
Promoted though, what a brilliant season.
Clearly we weren't much better than the rest, to the point that I'd argue that this is firmly our level right now. to make matters even worse our top scorer with 23 goals John Olesen decided to leave us, along with Pedersen. Losing two of our better/best players is brutal. Munk was once again fantastic, he is quickly growing into my favorite player this save so far.
The eagle eyed among you will have noticed a nice looking someone at the the bottom of that list, so its time to introduce you the the intake from this season.
As the reward for getting promoted is going professional I was concerned about finances, so I only signed up the players who had 5 star potential. Delightful mix of nationalities this year.
Veje listed as a AML, ST... yeah about that... I'm usually fine with low finishing as long as decisions and composure are high... but i really need a "competent" forward. other than that speed demon with some skill on the ball, I'll take that.
Pind fits in pretty well on the wing, unless Veje is too useless to play up front.
Elmi I couldn't not sign the Somalian CB could I? not exactly good, but development has started to happen, maybe he will be good enough to commandeer us some points next year.
Things are looking peachy. Though next year will be very tough, as far as I know our worst opposition went one win and three draws against us this year... so that's fun. Not to mention the chasm we have up front and in defense, luckily our GK is fairly good.
Our finances are solid but Full Time contracts will bleed our coffers a good chunk. I will be more on the safe side, expecting us to drop back down.
I just hope we dont get sacked next year, our board wants Defensive football... yeah not going to happen next year I think.

Season 4 Update
This one was the most painful year of the save so far.
I never really felt that we were THAT much worse than the others in the league, we never changed our system so probably dropped a few points and goals from being attacking 24/7. My main concern is that we got a lot of points off AB and B.93, both of whom are leaving the lofty heights of NordicbetLiga. Survival is nice, and with the finances working out the way they are we can survive in the league for a few more years. Competition money is a massive game changer, that covered about half of our costs for the year. Having said that I really really need to minimize my squad, no one I'm willing to sell is worth a single pound.
Daniel Munk took off this season, really coming into his own. Pedersen is an odd creature, has some of the best stats in the team, but full of some really underwhelming performances. John Olsen is bizarre, naturally mediocre winger with 5 finishing... 19 goals though. And Marcus Sloth is leaving us, so we are about to be out a few goals next year.
This youth intake was underwhelming, still really need a big time striker, could use some quality in defense. But at least I got Bidstrup who is really solid, needs a few years to grow physically but when he does he will be a wall. Bødker doesn't really stand out as much to me, if any of you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

2040/41 (season 19)
SkyBet League 2
Season Summary
It's taken us 19 seasons but we've finaly won a league title!
League - It started so well, with 6 straight wins. But then the next 8 games only saw us win twice, and I wasn't entirey sure which run would be the one to set the tone for the rest of the season. Then we beat third placed Lincoln City 6-0 and I started to believe we could do it. 8 straight wins towards the end of the season saw us gain promotion with 5 games to play. With only the title to play for we almost blew it, with only 1 victory in those final 5 games, but we managed to sneak it
Fa Cup - worryingly, we were beaten easily in the first round by another League 1 side. Burton Albion this time.
Players
So here are our championship winning XI!
They're still young, but worryingly the better players don't want to sign new contracts. And Clarence has only one year left to run....
Kyle Clarence - 18 years old, another 40 goals and my coaches reckon he's premier league quality already. Still on only £35 a week cos he cnstantly refused to sign a new contract, he has 1 year left and shows no signs of wanting to renew it. So do I cash in, or risk him for a season in League 1?
Harry Ward 40A - first full season and another one who the coaching staff reckon is premier league quality already. It'll be a miracle if I can hang on to him
Luke Dyer 37B - I don't know why but for an attacking tactic it seems to get some amazing performances out of my centre backs. First time I got a player with over 8 average rating for as long as I can remember. He was immense!
I don't have a huge amount of depth in the squad so if I do lose them they'll be sorely missed
Youth
Youth Level 3!!! let's see what I'm paying all that money for!
looks good! 5 stars! I need a midfielder as well! I was very excited!
Haslam and Hughes aren't too bad. Determination levels are good, personalities are.....ok. But not what I was really hoping for to be honest.
Finances and Upgrades
So during pre-season a message popped up in my inbox that we had recieved 50% of the fee from Alex Worsfold 35B being sold by Villa to Leeds. So i clicked on it, hoping to get a nice little windfall of maybe 3 or 4 million and saw this....
I coudn't believe it! 21m in total!!!!
I immediately went shopping!
So I'm now paying 3.25m annually for our youth set up. In League 2!!!
Career
man what an insane series of events... I think that's the most useful 50% sell on clause I've seen. Championship real soon at this rate

Got to love getting a good player through...

Holbæk Bold- og IdrætsforeningSeason 3 update
I wanted to start this update at the half way point, as there's a winter break, but the league table lines up best this way. AND we have youth intake around this time too. So seemingly all my best players were in attacking positions, except for my GK, and most of those players have either left or degraded in skill. That is to say my team is only really getting worse as time goes by, intakes are my only source of improvement, a sentiment we are all too aware of this iteration. So imagine my surprise that my defense is really really good. Last year it was too, but we dominated the league so I took that as the reason.
We have been pretty damn good, best defense in the league... not by much thought. We also really benefited from not having a really good team in the division, we all seem fairly evenly matched. Been really surprised at this continued momentum, our team dynamics are as green as can be. Also we had two stand out players from last years intake, they don't stand out as amazing players but the did some great work.
I didn't look into why we were winning so much, but it was probably the great physical's. Natural fitness has been massive although its made me lazy on squad rotation. Which brings me to our Youth intake, most players come in at 15 and take a while to be eligible, as they need to be 16 before they can play, but this intake was different...
Immediate thoughts... Please please stop giving me 100 wingers, as such I'm sacking my HOYD. Having said that, I'd like to introduce you to our new talisman Sloth.
He doesn't exactly live up to his name, but he's good. Not a single worrying stat, unless you want your 15 pace and acceleration player to be able to run for longer than 5 minutes. Reaaaallllllly excited about this guy.
And hes tied to a semi-pro contract so I will only get screwed a little bit when he decides to leave us instantly.
Bonde has the unfortunate job of ousting Pedersen from the starting 11 which is a tough ask, but he's a really handy rotation option good on and off the ball, excited to see what happens with him, if he were 5 better in every stat he would be an amazing unique player.
Andersen is difficult, a good player with lots to work with, but doesn't excel at anything. Retraining him could work, but his high crossing and finishing are at odds, and his left foot only... I was thinking of dropping him into midfield as a Box to Box midfielder, but I'm not sure if there's any point.
Schondorff is screaming wing back at me, which could be fun, but it's annoying to have to switch and slot these players around to make them fit. It's a big part of the challenge, but I got 10 wingers through the last 2 intakes... which is just way too much for my taste.
Honestly after the first part of the season I knew we could win, we just needed to close games out cleanly. and we really did, we dropped nine points in the promotion group which is huge. Still maintained the best defense, which I hope we can continue in the NordicBet Liga because they have more than a few professional teams.
All in all I'm amazed at our luck/talent, really expected to hit a stumbling block there, because really really soon is the 3F SUPERLIGA and there are some really good teams in there. And professional status is probably miles away as there's next to no money coming in right now. But at least there's one good thing.

Season 2 started with a bang,
Clearly I have a talent on my hands... or do I?
Amateur hour with an amateur team...
Doubly sad that he left us for a team the division above us that didn't even play him that year. And when he was in such insane form for me it made me panic a little.
I will spoil the league a little bit here, at this point we were unbeaten in the league and completely dominant... and my backup striker was actually filling in for goals quite well, if Dachlauer had a bad day Mikander didn't. Only one problem with Mikander though... He's not very good.
You can imagine my nerves as I roll into the promotion group with only a 10 point lead... Roskilde managed to draw both games against me with my star striker.
Mikander crushed it. Literally won us half of the games. I could not believe it at all, we should have been down and out. I guess the team was just actually good. And so we went to the 3rd division, where we became a Semi-pro team.
I was delighted, the board were delighted, we even got a youth recruitment upgrade.
Somehow no one impressed me enough to screenshot... we got some pacey wingers who could cross and another new GK. dont know what else to add. But yeah an amazing season that made me fall in love with Danish football.

Considering @Crealk is currently demolishing the lower divisions of Denmark, I though I would update my save. I AM LOVING DENMARK, I don't like the way the league gets split into to separate leagues entirely but that's not important. What is important is the players are good, amazing for amateur's and very similar to my Latvian super children. Here's a few that i loaded up with.
Some really good technical and some brilliant physicals, needless to say i was pretty excited going into the season, we were predicted 3rd by the "media" the board wanted top half, so I decided on an attacking formation and system to make the most out of our overwhelming forward talent. A 4-2-3-1 Gegenpress... (I'm sorry, it just fit)
We fell just short of promotion, we actually got 7 of those 11 draws in the last ten games of the season, how we managed that I will never know. Næsby went nearly undefeated in the last leg of the season putting things beyond doubt early on. Overall I was pretty happy with how things went, lots to grow on. We managed to score a shockingly low amount, I was expecting a lot to be honest.
Rasmus Rejnhold wanted to leave the second our season was done, so that was annoying... but not save ending... Queue Youth Intake...
Pretty much exactly what I needed all things considered some depth on the wings and a CB An AMC who can kick a ball AND a new ST
Markus Dachlauer My oh my... what a talented 15 year old... obviously not a world beater, but Denmark isn't the world (yet) He has everything I could have wanted, fast for this level, great fitness. Unbelievable finishing, first touch too. Technique? Buckets full of it. and he's 6'1 with a professional personality
and these guys are technically players too...
Needless to say when they hit 16 they danced their way into the starting eleven.
even got this little bonus too,

Absolute star. Shame to see him hang up his boots, still can't believe he was useful for all those years. A testament to his legend and a chilling comment on the lack of growth...
Looks like the save is on a rapid rise though, getting very close to top half and new regens are looking very solid.
Keep up the great work!
