  1. @Marc Vaughan What is the impediment behind targeting a restricted number of Android devices as you previously did for FMT21, etc.? Prior devices on the compatibility list were able to run multiple releases of FMT and as evidenced from the forum users actively purchased devices deemed compatible.

As the issue here is clearly not a development one it would be good to have a definitive "business decision" answer to conclusively put this recurring Android issue to bed.

As for the current Android alternative of Xbox Game Pass, UI issues aside, it is the streaming requirement that is a major hindrance particularly when for many the entire point of FMT on a mobile device or tablet was the ability to play on the go or when traveling.

Alas it looks like I'll be stuck living out every possible way of keeping FMT21 interesting!

Roll on the inevitable "business decision" of releasing a core game then seasonal data updates, challenges and new leagues, with a new game on a n year development cycle as that's the only hope I have of a viable Android future.

If you're looking for a similar gaming experience on your Android phone/tablet you can play FM23 Console via Xbox Cloud Gaming if you have an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

Let's be frank streaming is in no way "a similar gaming experience" and while the issue with the broken menu was belatedly fixed it is still a subpar experience. The entire point of FMT on portable devices was to enable FM to be played on the go which is curtailed by the streaming requirement.

  3. I only play FM on an Android tablet, usually on the go, and had every release of FMT. I have a Xbox and Ultimate so the additional cost for Xbox Edition, while a clear issue for some, is not one for me. I could even accept the inevitable clunky input, as I have done for other Xbox games. The deal breaker for me is the requirement to stream and that effectively kills FM as a portable option, particularly when traveling, which was my usage. Mobile is just too basic whereas Touch was the sweet spot. Unfortunately this means the end of a journey that started back with CM 96/97.  I wish everyone at SI all the best and I hope in future you will revisit options to enable people to play FM on the go.

  4. It's compatible and works fine but is not optimised which is apparent in the 3D match engine (i.e. the pitch lines are constantly flickering). You can find it under SEGA (or just search for a prior version and click through).

Lack of optimisation aside it's good and using the S Pen is a joy.

Edit: I have the Wi-Fi 256GB version with the Keyboard Book Cover. The trackpad is also useful for navigation.

  5. I'm playing on Android (Nvidia Shield K1).

It definitely feels like a step up from previous versions. I've only played a few quick challenges to get a feel for it but everything appears to be more responsive while the interface is intuitive and a good use of screen real estate (my tablet is 8").

I was dubious about the tactical overhaul but the playing styles are very distinct and it makes it easy to quickly create your own approach. The move to being able to adjust your mentality in possession, in transition and off the ball is a good one and you can see opposing styles reflected in games.

The thing I found most striking are the games (3D). The easiest way to describe the change is games are more unpredictable. There are more turnovers through tackling, pressing and poor passes. There are more deflections and ricochets. The keepers spill the ball back into play more. It leads to more moves breaking down and teams scrambling to retrieve the ball. This is particularly pleasing when you get a bit of chaos in the box when the ball is spilled out, deflected or hits the woodwork. In prior versions this would be a simple binary case of defender clears or attacker gets the rebound. This time there seems to be more variables involved (or at least rendered) which makes watching games more realistic.

I'm impressed particularly given how smooth the entire experience is on what is an older tablet. Good job.

Edit: Forget to mention the vanishing spray is a nice touch!
