No need for using asymmetric formations. A regular 4231 can suit Arsenal quite nicely.

Anyway, here is how I would set up a starting 4231 tactic for Arsenal with Ozil within it:

    PFat

    IFsu         TQ(Ozil)        IWsu

    BWMsu  CMde

    WBsu   CDde  CDde  FBat

    GK/SKde

Positive - play out of defence & shorter passing - distribute quickly & counter-press - higher D-line, standard LOE & split block

    That's a tactic I would start with.

Reasoning behind the roles and duties

    - TQ role for Ozil as it suits him perfectly IMHO

    - Once I gave Ozil the role I believe would optimally suit him, other roles are selected in such a way as to both optimally interact with his role and suit players playing them

    - No doubt that Laca can play a creator role such as CF or DLF or F9, but given that he already has another creator role (TQ) right behind himself, I did not see a need to have 2 creator roles in such close proximity (hence simple PF on attack duty)

    - Likewise, Auba in AML would absolutely make sense as an IF on attack duty when viewed in isolation, but giving him attack duty could make him and Laca competing for space and influence up front, which is why I decided to play him as IF on support (plus. support duty will make him more defensively responsible, whereas the IF role preserves his primarily attack-minded nature)

    - Pepe in AMR remains IW on support, but the CM behind him is now changed into a holding role in order to provide defensive cover for the naturally overlapping FB on attack on that flank as well as help recycle possession in the midfield when necessary (alternatively, CM on defend could be switched to a DLP on defend, but another playmaker would somewhat reduce Ozil's playmaking influence, which I assume you wouldn't want)

    - FB on attack duty on the right flank has been just mentioned and largely explained + having someone to make (natural) overlaps and deliver occasional crosses for your forwards - especially when you have as many as 4 players up front - can be helpful to break the "monotony" of an otherwise possession-based football

    - On the left side, all 3 players have support duties, but in a "perfect" balance thanks to their roles (Auba/IF is already explained, WB on support is there to provide him with proper support in the final third and BWM on support as defensive cover for the attack-minded fullback)

Thank you so much for your explanation, i will spend some time working on it and lloking for the best enviroment for him!

I created a thread documenting my experience trying to get the most out of Ozil here:

I have been a little sidetracked/busy to play through the FM21 season though. The busted stats and analytical side of the game has put a dent on providing any sort of feedback and information.

wow, i really enjoyed reading your post, very interesting and it became an absolute success. I will use him as a RPM, we'll see! Thank you.

Yes, the game splits into 3 stages. Promotion, relegation and the other group which I do not know what it is for because I was not in it! The thing that annoyed me about this setup was that I walked both league stage, winning most matches, and got no reward for it, still having to win 2 playoff games. It is a really unpleasant system.

Yep it's frustrating. While that has happened to you, other teams may have 0 ponts after 40 games and still stay in the league.

  4. Yes, this season is a mess even for us the spaniards, and it is really difficult to understand. Next season, a new division is being created, the Segunda B Pro, which is the third division. You will first play a little league of 11 or 10 teams, and then you will fight for going up to Segunda, for going up to Segunda B Pro or for staying in the Segunda B. Is something similar implemented in the game?

  5. So, as long as you recommend me not buying a MacBook, i've seen two laptops which i find that can be good to fulfill my desires.

    Dell Vostro 5391 - Specs (948€)

    CPU. Intel Core i7-10510U 71.

    GPU. Intel UHD Graphics 200.

    Display. 13.3”, Full HD (1920 x 1080), IPS.

    HDD/SSD. 256GB SSD.

    RAM. 8GB LPDDR3.

    OS.

    Battery. 45Wh, 4-cell.

    Dimensions. 307.6 x 204.5 x 16.8 mm (12.11" x 8.05" x 0.66")

    Huawei Matebook D14 (550€)

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3500U

GPU: AMD Radeon RX Vega 8 (Ryzen 2000/3000, 15W)

    DISPLAY: 14.0”, Full HD (1920 x 1080), IPS

    STORAGE: 256GB SSD

    RAM: 8GB DDR4, 2400 MHz

    WEIGHT: 1.38 kg (3 lbs)

What do you think of these laptops? Another thing i'm a bit frightened about is the fact that Macbooks don't need an antivirus and the others yes.

    Hi all,

Currently looking to buy a new laptop as the one I have is nearing the end of it's tenure (not least due to the weight of the 15.6" screen).

I am keen to get a Macbook, be it either Air or Pro, although Air is a lot cheaper.

Just wondering if FM will run smoothly on it? Gonna be using it mainly for programming, web browsing, etc. and FM will be the only game I play on it.

    MacBook Air 2020:

    • Retina display with True Tone
    • 1.1GHz quad-core 10th-generation Intel Core i5 processor
    • Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz
    • Intel Iris Plus Graphics
    • 8GB 3733MHz LPDDR4X memory
    • 512GB SSD storage¹

    MacBook Pro 13" 2020:

    • 2.0GHz quad-core 10th-generation Intel Core i5 processor
    • Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
    • Intel Iris Plus Graphics
    • 16GB 3733MHz LPDDR4X memory
    • 512GB SSD storage¹
    • 13-inch Retina display with True Tone

There's ~€700-800 in the difference between both.

Would it be worth the extra or would the Pro run just as smooth?

Many thanks for the help :)

i'm looking for the same answer mate, hope someone helps us.

Any particular reason you're buying a Mac? You'd buy a far superior PC laptop for the money. And I mean far superior.

Well, i bought my first Mac five years ago and i'm really happy about it. I know Apple laptops are really bad for gaming, but i haven't had problems. My idea is that i want to keep having a Mac, since i think it's the best according to what i use it for. Having said that, i need advice on if a Mac Book Air would be too much noisy and hot to run the game.

  8. Hey guys, i'm buying a new laptop, and i'm doubting between the MacBook Air 2020 and the MacBook Pro 2020. I think that both will run the game fine, but i'm afraid of the noise that MacBook Air may make when running it. If i didn't play FM (that's the only game i will play), i would choose the Air, but i don't know what to do.

    What would you do?
Some of you play on MacBook Air o Pro?

    Thank you.

In the game he's playing right now, I've seen at least three dribbles. One of the things I've noticed is there appears to be improved 'tussling' for the ball. Also, when crosses come in, there's variety in how the striker reacts, rather than endless first time shots and volleys. Goalkeepers pulling off great saves too. Very impressed so far, although it's only a very small sample.

Does someone know in which minute this game happens? Thanks.

A few welcomed additions that will add more realism but nothing groundbreaking in terms of match engine and modern tactics.

To me, and I imagine a lot of experienced players, the above two need perhaps the most upgrading.

    - Need to see more realistic defending, movement...

    - players playing with the instructions, much better AI

    - more things like bumping of players (which is shockingly non-existent)

    - GK's reaction to second balls, rebound balls off the posts..., GK behaving more like modern goalkeepers in coming out to clear the ball, more 1 on 1 which is almost zero??

    - Pressing triggers when small units hunt in pack and not like headless chicken with 3 players running after one player in a straight line

More announcements to come but I really believe this will make or break the game.

man, you just spoke facts. When a player is waiting for a throw-in, the defender always wins the ball because the attacking player just can't protect his position, it's ridiculous.
