  1. It's not really surprising to see a 4231 high pressing gegenpress with tons of TIs and 10 attack duties on pitch win the FM World Cup as we know that this kind of tactic often overperform. Why would the players try to make something more realistic if it's not working all the time? What's sad is that the game is allowing this kind of "cheating" tactic. FM is supposed to be a simulation and, even though it's a game, it is sometimes frustrating to try to make realistic tactics while pushing every buttons make things work by miracle. Let's hope the new era that FM25 will launch will make things more nuanced.
  2. From what I've read, Bielsa was about 2 training sessions/day with some team building stuff happening here and there, like having meal/breakfast together. So, I don't think 3 sessions/day is accurate ; I'd go pour 2 sessions/day but, very intense sessions. And add sessions that help team cohesion.
  3. I must admit that Pressing Forward is a bit of a mystery to me. I played half of a season with Retegui as a PF(A/S). And he was one of my player that pressed the less. My wingers and my 10 pressed a lot more. I kinda like what a PF does while in possession, but I never saw the behavior expected from a role named Pressing Forward. And Retegui has all the attributes to press a lot.
  4. Hi guys, Do you know if training sessions have an influence on how my team will play after a few sessions? Basically, if I plan several "Play from the back" sessions, will my team will more play from the back, without any change on TI's of course. Or will it just train attributes worked in this session?
  5. Which role + PI's + traits would you recommend to have a DM who sits deep, screens the defence, strong at getting the ball back and who regularly makes runs that break the first pressing line ?
  6. You're right dude. As I mostly play with positive mentality, I presume that my B2B are running to the area much early that if I'd play with a lower mentality.
  7. Don't get me wrong, I love what they done with the positionnal play, and the large amount of possibilities it offers. But for now, I find it way to systematic and if you don't want to play that way, it makes things more complicated with using some of the roles that are concerned by the setting. The only fun thing I found is using a RPM in the central defensive midfield slot. That way, the player moves all around the pitch but not systematically in the upper half space ahead of him. If you want to play a pretty simple 433, I'd probably use a B2B paired with a CM(A) in order to layered my midfield. But now, the B2B is fixed as high on the pitch as the CM(A) and I don't really get the point to have to distinct roles and above all, all the build-up responsibility is on the DM... Frustrating
  8. Hi guys, I might put a cat among the pigeons by saying this but I feel like the FM24 positionnal play changes sometimes (most of the times?) forces us to play as a team with the intent of having a very structured team, such as having a 3-2-5 in position... I mean that I feel like we should be able to chose whenever we want some roles to move in order to have that kind of structure, or not. For example, what I liked about roles like Segundo Volante or B2B, is that they could start deep but break lines thanks to their ability to dribble. Same with the RPM. Now, I feel like if I want to use those roles, I can't really play a fluid system where those roaming players will sit wherever they feel they need to be on the pitch. They automatically go upfront, in the half spaces and, you can't really have a double pivot in possession if you play with a Volante, or you need to play with a Libero or an inverted wingback. We should be able to tick on or off if we want our team to use positionnal play, or not. I tried asking a DM(s) to dribble more and not to hold position to encourage him as make those breaking-lines runs, but they don't do it with the same velocity as a Volante in previous FM. Am I alone to feel this way?
  9. Hi @crusadertsar ! I follow your work for a long time now and really enjoy your way of playing FM, especially the fact that you're not obsessed with overpowered tactics. But regarding your last post, I must say that I don't find your results very good. You seem to have pretty expensive (good?) players but 5 win on 13 games played doesn't feel like a successful run. And like I said, I know you want your team to have the results expected regarding their proper level. But I feel like you could perform better without turning into an overpowered high pressing tactic... What do you think? My message is not aggressive in any way, I really enjoy your work and my saves are always hugely inspired by what you do.
  10. Congrats for this tactic man, it looks awesome. Thanks a lot for taking the time to write it very well, I miss those kind of very inspiring threads on this forum.
  11. Hi everybody, My defenders are always more tired than my offensive players. To me, that doesn't make any sense because I play a high press system and it should get my forwards exhausted but... they're not, at all. But my defenders are, so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. Thnaks !
  12. Yes OK right, this line up is better indeed. As previous people said, did you try to micro manage players ? But to be honest, I don't really how to make things work with Marseille on first season. Just... bite the bullet and try to make it until summer mercato to get rid of dead woods and do a proper scouting session.
  13. Several things here : First and foremost, I spent the last two weeks trying to succeed with Marseille. Twice, it ended up at me being sacked off before the end of the first season. The board gives you around 50M to spent right before January mercato and, both times I bought good and reliable players in order to really upgrade the team and make it fit way more to the style of play I was reaching for. Despite good performances from some players (Aubameyang scoring for fun...), I always ended losing 1-4 at home against Nantes or Lorient. So, my take here is that Marseille squad sucks a lot during the first season (once again, FM sticks a lot to IRL hehehe). If someone manage to suck it up for the first season, you can get rid of dead woods and look for a brighter future! However, regarding your tactic, if nothing seems to be wrong with roles and Ti's, I see several issues. First, trying to play high and intense press with Correa (workrate of 7), Harit and Pellistri is very ambitious. Or suicidal. In my remain, Pellistri is more a target man type rather than a winger. Ounahi has poor finishing so CM(A) might not be the best role for him (switch him and Smith Rowe, it should be better). Mbemba lacks of composure to play as a single pivot. By playing 2 BPD (especially those two) you take a lot of risks. And Kurzawa is a very mediocre left back. So playing as an right inverted FB is not the right fit IMHO. Good luck with your save, you have a lot of courage to try to make Marseille succeed this year!
  14. Hi again guys (and thanks for your last answers!), Let me know if my question requires a new topic. I started to play with offensive mentality and I really liked how my players are agressive with and without the ball (espacially without). But my defence was ******. Do you have any advice on how to balance things using offensive mentality but still being pretty sound in defence? Thank you !
