Has the issue been acknowledged at all do you know? If nothing is going to be fixed until after January I will probably just get it refunded as for me it isn't playable in current state. Then can look to re-buy when a) cheaper and b) in working condition.
Yo, can you elaborate on the issue. I was finally going to jump in but if the game is broken???

Secondly thats a beta video, its not uncommon to see such things. You should have seen some of the artifacts on the BG gameplay video that I was getting. Promos of some of these games include cutscenes that are produced and rendered a lot earlier. Gameplay footage is different. This gets improved over time, because lighting effects for one thing can sometimes reproduce differently on different cards. The new RTX 3080 cards, some studios had to release games that can't be played on these new cards optimally, because they don't have the cards. How about all the mac machines. My MacBook pro is having issues even starting some of these games on EA. SI want to show you some gameplay footage and to suggest that the developers are going to sit there and accept poor standards of work is just not kosher.
I am one of those that like to sit back and wait. I do accept graphics not to be perfect on the first roll out of an alpha version which is exactly what the game is at the moment. Lighting effects, texture effects and the like take a tonne of work to do. Considering the dire situation worldwide and the extent to which companies need to adapt, expecting them to roll out a perfectly visual promo now is ... well...
Guys give them a chance, if you want to expect the worst by all means do so, but consider the environment a lot of these lads are working in. And before people start calling me a fanboy, consider again my public vitriolic reaction to FM17. Once the retail game was in my hands I was one of the most critical guys out there, but I waited before I had the retail version in my hand. Not the beta, the retail version. During beta's I still believe a chance exists to still extract the best production value you can out of a game. Doing so during an alpa is well just a tad bit early.
This is a nice post, and I understand your sentiment of waiting to see, as you say things can improve, and while I am critical, I am still annoyingly optimistic as it's a series we all love and want the best for.
But, seriously, seriously. Don't even try and compare BG3 to this graphically. They're not in the same ballpark in fact, they are generations apart. Not a couple years, generations. We're talking AAA modern as all hell games, versus something that hasn't gotten past ps2 era graphics. It's not acceptable no matter how much hope you give them that some polish will be achieved during beta and up to the final release. And again, the game is on xbox series x, this is what we're getting, it's might look a little better, it won't look good and it won't look anything close to acceptable in 2021. I don't buy the idea that they need to develop the game for low end machines. Because for years and years, the ability on PC to be able to adjust graphical settings to suit your audience has existed. With a lil graphical setting you could play this on MAC, there is also a 2D mode for people with low spec machines, that doesn't mean people with high spec machines need to miss out, but they have done, for years, and years.
The problem is, we have years and years and games to learn from, this isn't a one of right. This is even something that has happened the past couple of releases, it's a pattern we're all aware of stretching back for more than a decade. In fact, the visual fidelity of the game appears to have gotten worse than a 10 year old version of the same game. It looks worse than a PS2 LMA manager from 2007. A PS2 has 32 MB of RAM and a measly 294mhz processor and 4mb of vram.
I know it's not the same, but I also work for a software company, that has transitioned without much if any trouble to working from home. As have so, so many others. I know COVID would have stopped things like Motion Capture, but for anything else...
I've gone from playing 1000 hours of FM14 to only managing 53 in FM20. it saddens me, I've played since CM3, 98/99. I love the series, but it has issues, it's stale, its regressing. It's nowhere near what you expect of the industry these days.
I hope this iteration is a great version and I find enjoyment again, but heres the problem. Everything I say here falls on deaf ears, because my money has gone down, as there are no other options, this is it, it's all we got. So from a consumer point of view, I feel milked, insulted and taken advantage of.

A person watching a streamer play a game is very different to a first time buyer buying a game based off an advert
Is the stream not an advert? I'd argue that twitch streaming would generate more views than the official SI youtube channel, at least for newer players.
Still the argument holds up. Also, what do you spose a first time buyer of FM on the Xbox Series X would expect visually and graphically? Let's not make excuses for SI, or chuck around absurd notions that they purposely show off a bad version of the game to get people interested in buying it. As has been said, how dumb do you think the FM audience would have to be to fall for that. It's a practice, not practiced anywhere else in gaming and never has been.

You would be outraged (and see the previous 4 pages for evidence of this) if they only showed that 'blank' pitch when you have a top of the range PC. On the other hand, the users on the other end of the scale would blow a gasket if decent graphics and detail is shown, but they don't see it when they start playing. It might even be potential law suit territory.
I genuinely don't get this argument at all. People with low spec machines expect trade off for having low spec machines. People with high spec machines, expect no such trade off. Furthermore, it's now on the new generation of console, which makes no such tradeoff in graphical power, than what some people may see with an older laptap/PC. It makes absolutely no sense to downgrade the graphics in a marketing video where you'd expect the game to put it's best foot forward. I struggle to think of any scenario as a PC gamer where a marketing piece or a conference deliberately downgrades your expectations. If your expectations are having to be tempered, well then I think herein lies the problem. The game looks arguably worse than comparable PS2 games. I don't think you can go out and buy a PC that bad even if you tried. At least not from any reputable business. There does come a point where you really have to think...hold the god damn phone. It's 2021, what on earth is going on with these visuals.
There are also graphical setting options that allow you to display the graphics to meet the needs of your customer base, so why again, would you need to show low end graphics in a marketing piece. Again though, the new generation of consoles, unlike PCs, will not have or need graphical settings. So your point is just, moot

Well @themadsheep2001 says that a large % of folk are playing on a CPU's older than Pentium 4 so I guess it's possible.
The PS2 did this on 32MB of Ram - the Min Specs for 2019/2020 of FM is 2GB of Ram oO - I would take that statement with a grain of salt

The 3D engine was designed with help from the Virtua Soccer team at SEGA with them providing a lot of the mocap data for the animations. If you watch VS4 footage you can see some very familiar animations.
The 3D engine is dated and ugly, we all know that, but SI know the system specs folk are playing on and need to cater to that. Personally I can live with the 3D as is, yes it would be nice if it was better but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's the animations that are immersion breaking imho.
I undestand what you're saying. I disagree massively that anyone is playing on a device less powerful than a Ps2 XD

LMA Manager 2007 on the PS2 - FM 21 is on the xbox series x - if anyone wants to compare what we've seen of the pitch/stadiums/lighting/players so far, go right ahead. I know which game I think looks vastly superior. I wonder just how much more powerful the series x is compared to the ps2 - let alone my PC XD.
If what we've seen is considered acceptable from SI, then I really don't know what to say. We all know, this kind of stagnation is what a lack of competition does.
When the big feature in your big features preview is that your manager game of 31 years old is now focusing on you the manager, well, I think you maybe got some issues.
I'm not sure how I can be constructive with this, if you want constructive criticism, any other developer would have been crucified for this lack of visual development, which I know, isn't the games primary purpose, but come on now. Let alone you know, releasing a broken game each year that needs multiple patches.

Nice to see that after 31 years of champ man/football manager that the main feature of this management sim is that focus is 'finally,' on the manager...............
Not really sure stagnation covers it at this point. Meh, I'll probably still get it, still lots of new features that aren't really new here.

Therefore every CM/FM that has ever been released has a broken ME?
Yes, I thought this was obvious and not even a debate. If it wasn't there wouldn't be leagues of fixes every release and during each games release and nothing to improve on. Every release has something that is exploitable in the match engine.

There's always been (oft illogical, and/or ridiculously aggressive) tactics that take Advantage of ME and AI weakness , which are making Player quality pretty irrelevant and fantasy overachievement the norm, and yes, FM 20 is no exception (see the download sections). I don't think there will ever be an exception to this by now. By that standard though, every release was broken, older ones even more so than current ones (Mighty Diablo et all).Yup, see above. I wasn't complaining, if you look at my original post, but people were upset with OPs post, I was merely providing a point.
On 22/06/2020 at 00:35, Cadoni said:There is no exploit tactics for FM19 or FM20.
Who is correct, you or Svenc? Also, how can you lie, just straight up. This community is toxic as all hell. Hell, I'm watching a video right now from FMScout that plays with 1 defender and is beating Burnly 10-0. Jesus Christ mate, I wasn't knocking the game, I wasn't complaining, but this kind of blind loyalty is ridiculous.
If there is nothing to exploit in the the last 2 match engines, then FM21 won't feel the need to fix anything outside of cosmetics right? Except they will, because there is.

No, I don't. I am just curious how anybody can bring up such simplistic stats as in the opening post and trigger a discussion how it were broken. It may well be broken, but none of these numbers, absolutely none in here, would show it. It's like when playing the game, developing a subjective eye has always massively trumped just looking at the stats alone. Plus, raw numbers may actually hide lots of actual bugs.
Re: Were you can check for shots on target: It's under the "match center" tab. If you click on "match center" and "total shots" there is a break-downRe: I disagree that lots of SOT mean a keeper would be hammered, in particular as to FM. There were also quite a few of SOT in this vintage match for PSG (the Player is Ajaccio), but most of them are easy saves for the keeper. Indeed, one of the Problems since forever is that you can get many SOT that -- evidently -- aren't that converted that much into goals in-game, so the game cannot be perfect.
The match engine is broken by the acknowledgement and existence of many exploitable tactics. Regardless of what you think of the OPs examples. No one can really deny this one

What position are you looking for?
Honestly anything, but a good striker or central defender - been a fair bit since I played an FM game, so feeling a bit out of me depth

Not likely the right place to put this let me know.
But I've decided to embark on a Luton Save as I hate all the other first team kits in the championship.
Anyone know of any good signings for a 120K budget?

Thanks mate, I found another thread discussing this. I'll wait, or likely miss out this year again. As someone who had played on and off since champ man 3 and then really stopping after FM17. It's obvious and ever present that the game just goes through the same cycle and we're mostly mugs. Beta - Release (bugs/broken) >>Patch (Still bugs/broken) >XMAS Breaks and no one is around to fix it > Jan Patch, some fixes but still broken and then resources off to the next iteration to do the same thing again.
