  1. Inter Milan: 2044/45 Review My final season with Inter Milan didn’t contain anything of note really. I spent a lot of money in the transfer market but it didn’t pay off for us. We finished 3rd in the league, but a long way off of the pace. In fact only a poor end to the season from Juventus let us finish in that 3rd spot. Outside of the league we made the semi finals of both the Italian Cup and the Champions League before falling short in both. AC Milan ended our domestic cup run with a 1-3 aggregate score line and Manchester United sent us packing from Europe with a 1-2 aggregate score line. To add salt to the wounds we would also be beaten by Napoli in the final of the Italian Super Cup. That brought to an end a somewhat lacklustre spell in Italy for me. Domestic cups are starting to prove a real hindrance and I now find myself hunting for roles where I can try and pick up some of the missing ones. I’m avoiding England as I plan to end my challenge in my home nation and hopefully with my beloved Arsenal. I have picked up the international job of England for a second time as a couple of seasons have now come and gone. The 2056 European Championships are about to kick off and ranked 7th in the world I feel we stand a chance. I’ve also finally picked up an interview with an intriguing challenge and so may be about to end my time on the unemployment line. I didn’t want to be out of work for this long but I also want to make sure that I pick and choose the jobs I take from here on out. I don’t plan on wasting much more time. Especially as my laptop is now starting to struggle if I load up anymore than one nation at a time. I’m a little worried that may end up being the killer of this years attempt at this challenge but for now I’m fighting on through the slow processing times. 2. @Gregg88 huge congratulations mate. As someone who's never completed this challenge I can do nothing other than to tip my hat to those who have. Congratulations again and good luck to whatever you decide to do next.
  3. Nigeria: African Cup of Nations 2053 So midway through my season with inter Milan I got to down my club tools and head off to my international duties with Nigeria. For me this would be my fourth African Cup of Nations, but my first in charge of Nigeria with the previous three coming across three different stints as manager of the Ivory Coast. My performances had been underwhelming to say the least, but this time I hoped an attempt with a new nation may bring better luck. Strangely the tournament was listed as 2053, despite the fact it kicked off early in 2054. My Nigerian side were ranked 18th in the world as we headed to Gabon and I knew we should be considered one of the nations expected to go a long way through the tournament. Unfortunately my previous attempts had left personal scars and I was very much nervous of this one. I also feared about our squad. We had a strong starting eleven but we certainly lacked quality in depth. If we were to do well then we would need to keep our main players fit and healthy throughout. We navigated through a potentially tricky group with relative ease actually. First up were South Africa, the strongest of the opponents. We didn’t play well but rescued a draw with a goal five minutes from time. Next up we saw off the Gambia 2-0 in a comfortable performance before a 4-1 drubbing of Zambia gave us progression as group winners. After comfortably finding our way through Guinea 2-0 we faced a challenging run through the knockouts. Extra time was needed to see off Morocco in a quarter final thriller before we put in yet another superb performance in the semi final with Senegal. we raced 2-0 ahead, found ourselves 2-3 behind before scoring a late equaliser to force extra time. In extra time we were sublime and two goals saw us into the final where we would face Ivory Coast. Ironic in truth. We entered the final as huge underdogs, but we didn’t let that stop us. Unsurprisingly we spent much of the game under severe pressure but we managed to get the job done. My team did me proud and they righted my personal wrong of failing so badly at the AFCON. A goal in each half proved enough and I’m delighted that we managed to upset the odds. With that I handed in my resignation, thankfully knowing I’ll never need to attend another AFCON as a manager. I’m proud of the fact I finally managed to get my hands on it, but I’m glad to be able to stop chasing after it. For now I can focus on my Inter Milan side and look for a new international job after the World Cup this summer. I’m still looking for a way out of Inter Milan but so far nothing of interest has come up for me. I’m patient and I’m confident it’ll happen soon enough. 4. Inter Milan: 2053 Club World Championship Having won the league title in Italy my aim was to move on and hit the next country on my world tour. As the season ended it suddenly dawned on me that the Club World Championship was coming up and so I decided to hold off tendering my resignation for a shot at more silverware. My stint with Inter had been a little lacklustre and I felt that picking up another trophy would give me a welcome departure. Hosted by Qatar we entered the competition as reigning champions. I had anticipations of going far in it even though we’d never really hit the heights in the Champions League under my management. We had a very strong squad though and I had confidence in our abilities. We navigated through the group stage with ease, keeping three clean sheets in the process. First up we dispatched Al-Ahli 4-0, before narrowly defeating Boca Juniors 1-0 and then thumping Toronto FC 4-0. Top spot in the group saw us drawn against Flamengo in the round of 16 and another comfortable victory saw us progress 2-0. America of Mexico were seen off comfortably to make the last four as a fantastic display saw us into the semis. We did concede our first goal of the tournament late on but held on for a 3-1 victory. Expecting to be drawn again Barcelona I was shocked as FC Porto hammered them 5-0 to give us a potentially easier semi final. That didn’t prove the case but we did manage to win and reach the final. We ended on top of a topsy turvy affair as we won 4-2 in a match full of thrills. The final would definitely prove our toughest ask though, as our city rivals AC Milan awaited us. My side had not beaten them under my management but this would definitely be the greatest of stages to pick up that first win over them and lift the Club World Championship in the process. We were outplayed throughout but thankfully completed a smash and grab victory late on. My first victory over AC Milan and a trophy to boot. I had real panic when we gave away a penalty but they missed and that seemed to give my players some confidence to push on. We held on well enough once we’d taken the lead and that was very pleasing indeed. Another trophy and in truth probably one of the tougher ones to get for this challenge. I still haven’t navigated my next move so I think for now I’m going to stay with Inter. I’ve splashed a ton of the tycoon owners money and now will spend the season chasing the domestic cup and the Champions League. If something pops up in my desired nations then I’ll jump ship but for now I may as well stay where I am rather than walk away and spend a season unemployed. At least there are a couple of trophies I can chase in the mean time. 5. Inter Milan: 2052/53 Review My second season in Italy has drawn to a close and it was definitely an eventful one. We headed in on the back of a disappointing campaign last time out which promised so much, but ended up delivering so little. To counter that we brought in six new players whilst also clearing out a lot of dead wood. Just over £170,000,000 was spent on arrivals, although we made just shy of that in player sales. We would go on to win the Serie A title although it was a lot less convincing than it should’ve been. After a mediocre start we strung together a ridiculous nineteen match winning streak which catapulted us top of the pile and with a big lead. A 0-0 draw with title rivals AC Milan saw us head into the final seven matches with a nine point lead. From there on in we stuttered though and almost ended up crawling over the line with just a game to spare. It should have been much simpler than we made it. Outside of the league we had a disastrous season though. Napoli eliminated us from the Copa Italia at the quarter final stage and Manchester City sent us packing from the Champions League at the round of 16. In the Italian Super Cup we got through Napoli to book a final against our city rivals but after a 1-1 draw were beaten on penalties to miss out on another trophy. With that I bid farewell to Italy and look for the next chapter of my journey. The domestic cups are becoming a bit of a worry for me with regards to the challenge but at least another league title has been collected. I did debate stating on for another season to try and collect the domestic cup but we were taken over by a tycoon midway through the season and I didn’t like his approach. After completing his takeover he moved to sign two defenders for a total of just over £130,000,000. Having spent two years building our squad I couldn’t stay and watch the new owner destroy it with big money signings. In truth I’m not even sure that the two new guys are an upgrade on anything we had anyways. So I depart Italy with a couple of possible targets in mind for my next destination. There’s a little under six months until the next African Cup of Nations and in truth I’d happily focus on leading my Nigeria side into that tournament before picking up a new club job. I won’t turn down any exciting opportunities but I also won’t be rushed. My next couple of jobs are pivotal for me if I’m going to complete this challenge. 6. Inter Milan: 2051/52 Review The less said about my third stint with the Ivory Coast the better, as our African Cup of Nations journey came to an end a lot earlier than I had hoped. We’d made it through the Group stage comfortably enough but then suffered elimination in the round of 16. My first season in Italy proved to be anything but special, although it certainly wasn’t a disaster. I signed winger Strahinja Lukovic permanently from Real Madrid in a £40,000,000 deal as well as loaning in right back Danilo Bologna from Arsenal. Both proved to be good arrivals for us. We finished as distant runners up to city rivals AC Milan as we faded off down the home straight. For half a season we were right in the league title battle but AC were relentless and we lost pace over the last ten or so games. We had a good season though and I wouldn’t think if we could replicate that again we would finish a lot closer to winning the league. Striker Pereirinha was our real key man. He scored 38 goals in 38 appearances as he consistently fired us to positive results. Outside of the league we did alright without setting the world alight. Benfica ended our Champions League run at the quarter final stage, whilst AC Milan sent us packing in the Copa Italia at the semi finals. The Italian Super Cup was our one disaster as lost out at the first stage before also losing the third placed play off. I’m fairly pleased with how the campaign went as a whole, although the way our season fell to nothing from fighting across all fronts was disappointing. There was plenty of positives though and with the opportunity to bring in some new faces I’m confident that we can do better next time around. I’ve also picked up the job as manager of Nigeria and I’m hoping that gives me an opportunity to compete better for the next edition of the African Cup of Nations. I’ve failed miserably across three stints with the Ivory Coast so I’m hoping I can do better with a different nation. 7. FC Bayern Munich: 2050/51 Review Having left Real Madrid it wouldn’t be long before I was packing my bags and heading to Germany. Bayern Munich was an easy decision to make and an opportunity to try and grab at least a league title in hopefully a one season stop off. I inherited a squad that was packed with quality and that had just won the Bundesliga title by over twenty points. There were a lot of more mature players in the squad but that didn’t matter to me. This squad was destined for success and I shouldn’t have to work too hard at it. I made just two transfers ahead of the season, both of them arriving from Real Madrid. Firstly I parted with £80,000,000 to sign holding midfielder Phillip Carl and then we grabbed Serbian winger Strahinja Lukovic on a season long loan deal. My reign started badly as we were hammered 0-3 by Dortmund in the season opening Super Cup. I need not have worried though as it certainly wasn’t an indication of how the season would go. We would breeze to the league title with a minimum of fuss as we won it with four games to spare at the end of the season. The quality within the squad was just far too much for anybody to keep up with over a whole season. Defensively we were absolutely sublime and that enabled our attacking players to win us points and they did just that. My two summer transfers both proved influential and in truth it was a great season for all involved. The DFB Pokal was another competition I was keen to win in order to complete the domestic double. We breezed through the competition in truth. Our toughest test was Dortmund, but once we’d seen them off 2-0 it was plain sailing. The final itself was a thriller as we won it 6-3. The score line didn’t tell the whole story though as we fought from behind twice before scoring some late goals to add some gloss. That said another trophy added to the collection and on the domestic side it was a season well done. The Champions League was the only real disappointment of our season as we crashed out in the knockout play offs to Arsenal. I expected to go a lot further through the competition although we struggled through the league phase as well. I handed in my resignation the day after we won the double and in truth we achieved all we could do in super quick time. Two more trophies chalked off and the opportunity to move on within the one season. I wasn’t out of work long before signing a deal to take over recently crowned Serie A champions, Inter Milan. The Italian league is extremely competitive but my side will definitely be considered amongst the favourites to win the title. I have also signed on as manager of the Ivory Coast for a third stint at the helm. There is an African Cup of Nations in a few months time and I’m keen to finally lift that trophy. Hopefully our efforts will be better than in my previous stints. 8. Oh wow. I was at All In at Wembley but not yet made a wwe PPV. Hoping they come back to the o2 this year but not convinced it’s happening.
  9. You’re missing a big word at the beginning of that @vikeologist. “If”. It’s a good job I’m resilient because I take a peppering off this ultimate challenge 😂 @Safe Handsit was quite tedious but I knew I could do it in the end. I had such a strong squad I can’t believe it took so long. I found the Madrid leg of the challenge much more exciting than Paris though, where winning was a formality. Thankfully I don’t have any rush to finish the challenge so will just keep plodding along. I may get there eventually. Time may restrict slightly when wwe 2k24 is released mind you.
  10. Real Madrid: 2049/50 Review We went into this season having being surprisingly pipped to last seasons title by city rivals Atletico in what was an extremely frustrating campaign. I’d waited my entire reign to topple Barcelona in the league before being nabbed to the post by Atletico. Summer was all about adding depth to the squad and i felt that we did a really good job. A central midfielder arrived from Liverpool in a £70,000,000 deal but we conducted the majority of our business without spending a great deal. We would finally lift the La Liga title in what was an exciting and fascinating race. We needed to win our last eight league matches to match Barcelona’s points tally but we always had the advantage due to our head to head record. At one stage we fought back from a seven point deficit but in truth we were always in the hunt this time around. Thankfully it was only a two horse race this time and it was one that we managed to win. Again outside of the league it was a frustrating season. Manchester United ended our Champions League run at the quarter final stage and we lost in the final of both the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey, both to rivals Atletico. My reign saw so many cup finals and so many near misses but I have no departed having handed in my resignation after winning the league. We made five finals in the Copa del Rey (every season of my reign) and managed to win it just the once. It felt almost like a relief this time around to finally win the league title. My reign will be remembered for its failures rather than its success but thankfully I’ve won all of the domestic competitions during my time in the Spanish capital. The board begged with me to rescind my resignation but I had made my decision and I’m ready to move on. Italy or Germany are my most likely designations but I’ll wait for the World Cup to end and hopefully witness the crazy managerial merry go round. I’d like to grab a new international role as well after my failure with the Ivory Coast. 11. Ivory Coast: AFCON 2049 Midway through the season in Spain I took my Ivory Coast side to Angola for the next edition of the African Cup of Nations. In truth the less said about this tournament the better. It was my first and would be my only major tournament during my second stint with the nation as we failed miserably. We entered ranked 12th in the world and second in the rankings to Ghana as African teams. They were eliminated at the group stage which made our failure all the more disappointing. We won our group easy enough as a 0-0 draw with Libya was followed by a thumping 6-1 victory over the hosts and then a 3-1 win over Guinea Bissau. Even the goalless opener was a dominant performance for us as we missed two penalties and spurned a host of chances to win. In the Second Round we were drawn against Mali and were clear favourites with the bookmakers. Again we dominated the game but this time we were beaten 2-3 after extra time to be sent packing. A very disappointing end to my reign with the nation and these international tournaments are starting to become a real stretch. For now I have handed in my resignation and I may just steer clear of international management for the time being. 12. Real Madrid: 2048/49 Review Another season in Madrid is in the books and to be honest it was more of the same. We spent big in the summer and felt confident that we had enough to finish above Barcelona and lift the La Liga title this time around. We did indeed manage to finish above Barcelona but unfortunately it was our city rivals Atletico who lifted the league as we were once again stuck with a second placed finish. All in all we had a good campaign and we just got a little bit unlucky to miss out. We performed well for the most part but costly defeats to Barcelona and Atletico late on cost us and second was the best we could manage. Outside of the league we lifted the Spanish Super Cup but were beaten by Barcelona to deny us back to back Copa del Rey crowns. In the Champions League we made it through the league stage before losing out in the first round of the knockouts. One time I am hoping we can actually put together a good run and try to win it. With the season over I will now get my first crack at the Club World Cup hosted in Saudi Arabia. We should do alright in it and i would love to have a go at trying to win it. If we could do that then I wouldn’t be able to class this season as a failure. I’ve already got three transfer targets in front of me and I’ve started the process of trying to bring them to the club. If we get all three of them then I truly believe that next year could well be our year. 13. European Championships 2048 Having finally picked up my first major trophy with Real Madrid it was time to return to the international stage and lead my England side into the European Championships. We headed to the tournament hosted by Scotland and wales as defending champions as well as being the current world champions too. Unsurprisingly we were ranked number one in the world and very much fancied to go a long way through the tournament. After an injury scare we thankfully managed to take a full strength squad with us, including Chelsea striker Geslin Malaga-Omeonga. He’s a player I have tried and failed to sign with Madrid and would be a real key component if we were to go a long way through the tournament. We headed into the tournament in fine form as well. A turnaround 2-1 victory over Norway was followed by a 4-2 win over Paraguay as we managed to win both of our warm up matches. In our group we had Serbia, Netherlands and Romania in what definitely could’ve been a simpler prospect, although we were very much favourites to progress to the knockouts. We navigated the group although not particularly efficiently. Serbia were dispatched 2-1 in our opener before a dominant display against Romania saw us held to a 1-1 draw. Despite of the fact we had two goals disallowed late on. Finally a last minute equaliser saw us draw 1-1 with the Netherlands to book our spot in the knockout stages. A 4-1 victory over Greece put us into the quarter finals and book a blockbuster tie against Italy. We conceded twice in the last five minutes of the first half and despite dominating the second period we could only score once to crash out of the competition. I handed in my resignation and left before picking up the job with the Ivory Coast just a few weeks later. Back for my second spell a year out from the next edition of the African Cup of Nations. 14. Real Madrid CF: 2047/48 Review A week away has given me a new lease of life for my save and I returned to my journey with the last season of my contract with Real Madrid upon us. My time in the Spanish capital had been difficult so far and I still chased an elusive first major trophy as we looked to chase down the almost unbeatable Barcelona. We spent big money in pre season as I looked to put together a squad to compete for those major trophies. The biggest signing was the £100,000,000 deal for St Etienne striker Joris Sellier as I chased a striker capable of firing us upwards. Another key signing was centre back Adama Traore who came in from Stade Reims on a free transfer. Players departed as well but we entered the season with a very high net spend. We performed well throughout the season but yet again chasing down Barcelona proved to big of a task for us. The signing of Sellier certainly helped us but we dropped too many points to pip our Catalan rivals. I’m happy enough with a second placed finish but I am worried going forwards that chasing Barcelona down may be too tough for us. Especially as the squad I have is about as strong as I think it can be. Thankfully we did end my hunt for a major trophy though as we finally got our hands on the Copa del Rey. A third straight final under my management finally saw us win as we capped off a great run to win. I felt confident the moment we knocked Espanyol out in the Quarter Finals although we then scrambled our way through Villarreal across two legs in the semis. The final itself was simple enough even after winger Asier Arrixabalaga had been sent off. Outside of that we made the quarterfinals of the Champions League before a heart breaking defeat to Chelsea saw us exit. In the Super Cup we made the final before losing out to Valencia to miss out on more silverware. I wasn’t too fussed about that if I’m honest. I had hoped for more, but we finally picked up the first major silverware of my reign. Coming second to Barcelona brings no shame although I’m a little worried about how long it may take me to chase down Barcelona for the league title. Thankfully my work here has seen me offered and sign a new deal so I’m going nowhere just yet. Having picked up the domestic cup here it means next season I can focus on chasing the league title. Worryingly the financial situation at the club is diminishing though and I may have to find new signings of a cheaper stature in order to improve. First up is the European Championships with England though and another opportunity to win an international honour. 15. Real Madrid CF: 2046/47 Review Fresh off the back of winning the World Cup with England I returned to my task of restoring Real Madrid to former glories. My first campaign here had been modest at best, this time around I wanted some silverware. Armed with a significant transfer budget I attempted to plug the gaps I found in our squad from last season. A new keeper was signed, two new defenders and Christian Ahnen arrived as our new left winger in a £80,000,000 deal from my former club RB Leipzig. I was confident we could do better this season and the squad looked to have more depth than it had last time around. We did much better this season but we still ended up finishing way off the pace set by Barcelona. I’m not quite sure what the issue was as we seemed to control plenty of matches we just struggled to put teams away. We scored plenty of goals but we dropped too many points in games which we controlled and dominated. It was a disappointing campaign as we fell away late on in the season having spent the first half of it neck and neck at the top. Outside of the league we had a really sense of Deja vu. For the third time in a row and the second in a row under my management we would lose out in the Copa del Rey final to Espanyol. This time we were even more dominant and got done with a disappointing goal from a corner. Despite fighting back we couldn’t find the goal and yet again would finish as the losing finalists. In the Champions League we struggled more this time around. We finished down in the play off spots of the league stage and were eliminated by Juventus again in the play off round. This one really hurt me as I honestly felt we could go a long way in this competition. The Spanish Super Cup saw us get through Espanyol to make the final where we were comfortably beaten 0-2 by Valencia. For me I think this season was even more disappointing than the last. Our squad is absolutely jam packed with talent but we find ourselves without a trophy and kicking our wounds. Barcelona are an exceptional team to try and overcome and maybe I was a bit over confident that spending money would solve and bridge the gap. That being said I do plan on doing similar this summer. I don’t think we’re far away from winning trophies and I certainly don’t see myself walking away yet. I’ve got a real challenge on my hands but I am excited by it. With the right signings I’m sure we can go better next season and that is very much my goal. The end of next season will also bring the European championships with my England side. We’ve been dominant in qualifying and that bodes well for next season hopefully being successful at both club and international level. 16. England: World Cup 2046 Fresh off the back of a disappointing season with Real Madrid I got to lead my England team into the World Cup and the opportunity to chase a first major international honour since the Copa America in 2036. I had confidence as this England side was packed with quality and came in having won the European championships two summers ago. The tournament was for some reason hosted by Indonesia and Malaysia, but that aside we entered the tournament as one of the favourites. Our preparations went well enough and we drew a warm up with Ghana 1-1 before dispatching Qatar 4-1. That brought us into the tournament proper and with no major injuries to worry about my squad of 26 was prepared. We opened with a truly dominant display against Saudi Arabia but simply couldn’t find the back of the net. We controlled the game from start to finish but simply couldn’t apply the finishing touch. A 0-0 draw was disappointing but at least we showed how positive we could be about the strength of our defensive work. Next up was Haiti and we comfortably saw them off 3-0. Yet again we missed a whole host of chances but thankfully scored enough to get the three points. This meant we faced the Ivory Coast sat 2nd in the group. A win would guarantee us a spot in the knockouts and a draw may be enough to qualify. We looked ok as we hit injury time tied up at 2-2 but then disaster struck. A header from a corner saw us lose out 2-3 and sit relying on qualifying as a best placed 3rd spot team, thankfully we did that and earned our passage into the knockouts. First up was Austria and a win would see us into the last 16. We were really poor again, twice coming from behind to rescue a 2-2 draw. In the most unlikely of scenarios we won the match on penalties to face Cameroon in the next round. We took the lead just seven minutes into the contest and that was all she wrote. Yet again despite dominating the game we couldn’t add more goals and ended up walking away as 1-0 winners. Ghana or France awaited us in the quarters and shockingly the Africans saw off my former nation to book there spot against us. I felt confident and hoped this was where we would really kick our tournament on. By half time against Ghana we had already booked our spot in the semi finals and I had a chance to take some key players off for some much needed rest. We added one second half goal to our three in the first half to secure a 4-0 victory and a spot in the final four. At last we had produced a performance worthy of the quality we possess. Argentina would await us in the semi and an enthralling game would surely be coming. Their path had been much more straightforward than ours but we found ourselves in the semi finals despite of failing to reach our real heights. We produced a second brilliant performance of the tournament as a 3-0 victory saw us into the final where we would meet Mexico who had shocked Brazil in the other semi. We picked up the trophy with a dominant display, probably our best of the tournament. We failed to make the breakthrough until ten minutes into the second half but by then we should’ve been out of sight. After taking the lead we never looked in doubt of holding on and thankfully eased the nerves with a second right at the end of the game. A 2-0 win and world champions. With that my first major tournament as England manager is in the books and it ends in the perfect way. Thankfully we got better as the tournament went on and in the end we deserved to win the crown. For me personally it was a brilliant end to a difficult season after a pretty average campaign with Real Madrid. Normally I’d hand in my resignation and look for a new international challenge but I’m planning to hang around for the European Championships in a couple of summers time. We have a strong squad of players and I see no reason why we can’t have a go at lifting another international honour. For now I focus on improving fortunes in Madrid though ahead of a really big season for my managerial career. 17. Real Madrid CF: 2045/46 Review After my failure in the Euros with France I immediately picked up the role as England manager who were ranked number one in the world and who had won said European Championships. At club level I didn’t find it so easy after leaving Paris though. I eventually picked up the job at RB Leipzig at the end of January. Sat in 12th upon arrival I took the club up to 7th and Europa League qualification before leaving. I hadn’t planned to leave but the long term manager of Real Madrid had retired and moving there was an obvious and simple decision. I planned to pick up trophies quickly and armed with a £280,000,000 transfer budget felt confident I could do so. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. We were comfortably off the pace in the league and outside of that although we did better we couldn’t pick up success. Our home form in the league was fine, but away from home we were really poor. Far too many dropped points cost us and although we finished strongly we still finished way short of Barcelona. Defensively we weren’t good enough and the left wing didn’t provide much creatively or goal scoring wise to help us either. We did win the Spanish Super Cup beating rivals and former side Atletico 3-2 in the final. In the Copa del Rey we saw off Barcelona to reach the final before producing a disappointing performance to lose to Espanyol in a game we really should’ve won. The Champions League looked promising for a while as we walked through the league stage unbeaten to finish top of the pile. We made it to the Quarter Finals before Juventus sent us packing. We were outplayed away in the first leg to lose 0-1 but produced a better performance at the Bernabau. Very frustrating to go out at that stage as we should be challenging for this competition much further than the quarters. All in all that can only be described as a disaster. We could’ve nicked the Copa del Rey but we were way short both in the league and the Champions League. Having spent around £200,000,000 that’s a real disappointment. I’ve picked up another huge transfer kitty though and this time I plan on using it much more wisely. We definitely need to tighten up our defence and I was disappointed with the contributions from our options on the left wing. I wanted a new goalkeeper too, and we’ve snapped up a wonder kid from Villarreal for £32,000,000 already. He will be going straight into the team. I’m hoping next season can see us pick up some trophies as it’s fair to say I enjoy managing these big rich teams much less than attempting to overthrow them. First up is the World Cup with England though and I’m very excited to take my squad to Indonesia and Malaysia for that tournament. We should stand a decent chance of doing well in it as we’re ranked as the best team in world football. 18. I can’t say I found issues with the Saudi clubs if I’m honest. If I did it then it’s certainly still possible to win it you’ll probably grow to love the Saudi clubs in truth. Throughout my career they’ve done me a favour by taking players I don’t want for transfer fees nobody else gets close to matching.
  19. France: European Championships 2044 After winning the French league title with PSG and then handing in my resignation we headed to Italy for the European Championships with my French team. The squad was packed with quality and ranked 3rd in the world so I was confident of a good showing. We were handed a nightmare group though. Top ranked side England were joined by 12th in the world Belgium and Bulgaria as the groups whipping boys. Our campaign got off to an awful start as we were humbled 0-4 by a rampant England side. A late goal then saw us beat Belgium by the odd goal and then we comfortably saw off Bulgaria 3-0 to progress to the knockouts. The hosts Italy awaited us in the first knockout round and we produced an outstanding display to win 3-1. At this stage I began to feel a little more confident in our chances and thought that the poor display against England in our opener was beyond us. Unfortunately we produced a drab display against Germany to exit the competition. We conceded a goal just before half time and then failed to produce anything of note throughout the second half. We got caught on the counter in the closing stages as we chased an equaliser and we lost 0-2 to crash out. Unsurprisingly the French FA were far from happy but neither was I. I handed in my resignation before we even jumped on the plane home and that was that. I found myself chasing new managerial positions at both club and international level. 20. Paris St-Germain: 2043/44 Review Having finished my first season with Atletico I set about strengthening the squad for a push at the La Liga title. Then the Real Madrid job became available and I couldn’t resist trying to jump across the Spanish capital. That would end up with my rejection, but instead I would leave Atletico for the new Real Madrid managers former club, PSG. I felt that I could’ve pushed Atletico on but in truth finishing ahead of the big two was something I didn’t feel optimistic about. Jumping to Paris was an easy decision and at worst it should only last for a season anyways. That’s exactly what happened as I handed in my resignation at the end of the campaign having achieved what I wanted to with the side. On a side note I also took on the job as the French national manager with the European Championships coming at the end of this campaign. A simple stroll to the title was expected and was exactly what was delivered. The squad was packed with quality and we won it with four games to spare. We actually lost our opening league game to Marseille before embarking on a 27 match unbeaten run that saw us climb to top spot early on and never relinquish it. The title was secured early and I was delighted to achieve it at the first time of asking. Incidentally this was a 20th consecutive league title for Paris. Other than that it was a season full of disappointment. We lost my first match in charge against Marseille to lose the Trophee de Champions, and ironically they also knocked us out of the French Cup to. That one was more annoying as we had navigated our way to the semi finals with ease before they defeated us on penalties to deny us the domestic cup. In the Champions League we got through the league stage to face a play off. That saw us progress before Juventus knocked us out in the round of sixteen. With that I bid farewell to Paris and got ready for the European Championships with my France team. We would enter the tournament ranked 3rd in the world and as one of the favourites to win it. For me this would be a good opportunity to try and grab another international honour. My first since leaving the USA back in 2036. I was confident of having a good showing although in truth I thought going all the way was a stretch too far. 21. Oh @MikeClarke I agree this challenge is unbelievably addictive. Many annual leave days can be wasted. Every now and then you do end up with a boring campaign though. I for one am enduring one now where it’s a bit of a slog to get through it.
  22. Atletico Madrid: 2041/42 Review I took to the season as Atletico Madrid manager confident of a strong showing and armed with a ridiculous transfer budget of £180,000,000. I managed to increase this to £300,000,000 after a host of player sales before spending the majority of that on improvements to the squad. We went into the season with hopes of doing well and I was happy with the squad I had at my disposal. Our league form was pretty consistently strong but we didn’t get close to challenging at the top of the league. We forged a big gap to 4th from an early point of the season but we never endangered Barcelona or Real Madrid for the title. We consistently sat around seven to ten points behind but that was about as good as it got for us. A disappointing end to the season saw us slip away from Barcelona and we finished in 3rd spot. Not a bad showing but I would’ve liked to be closer to the top two than we ended up. Cup competitions didn’t go much better for us as we didn’t end our trophy drought. We got knocked out of the Spanish Super Cup by Barcelona and then Real Madrid ended our Copa del Rey run at the semi final stage too. Toppling those two giants of Spanish football is going to prove a real big challenge. We also put in an embarrassing showing in the Champions League, winning just once. An early elimination was no less than we deserved in truth. We’ve already made moves in the summer market as I look to plug some of the gaps in our squad. We’ve got some high earners leaving at the end of their deals and I’ve replaced those who have been regulars in our matchday squads. We’ve got plenty of money in the bank so I’m confident in improving the squad further as the summer goes on. 23. Atletico Madrid: 2042/43 Update The 2041/42 season would be my first season of success in Europe as I managed to guide my Sporting Lisbon side to a quadruple of silverware. The previously elusive league title was joined by the Portuguese Cup, Portuguese Super Cup and Europa League as we enjoyed a fantastic campaign. Those successes saw me reaching the end of my contract though and it felt like the right time to walk away and into a new challenge. The board tried time and time again to get me to sign a new deal but I had already made up my mind. With nothing left to achieve towards the challenge in Portugal it was time for me to move on. I walked away just a few days after our Portuguese Cup victory and it would take just three weeks for me to find a new position. Diego Simeone finally walked away from the job with Atletico Madrid and I walked in just a few days later. Success has very much eluded Atletico but they’re comfortably the third best team in Spain. Behind only Barcelona and Real Madrid I was confident in my ability to build success and put an end to that lack of trophies. I don’t expect this to be a quick portion of my journey but I’m confident I can achieve what I plan here. The club is mega rich and that spending power will be needed to topple the two giants of Spanish football. I’ve inherited a strong but small squad and my first job will be to add some depth to that. I’m keen to get stuck in though and I’m confident that I can enjoy a good reign in charge of Atletico. 24. Sporting Lisbon: 2041/42 Review My first full season in Portugal brought with it the joys of a domestic cup. I was hoping my second could bring a league title and see me depart the club at the end of the season with the expiration of my contract. In the end we would enjoy a phenomenal season as we lifted a whole host of silverware. First up was the Portuguese Super Cup, where a narrow 1-0 victory over Benfica saw us grab a winners medal. Our form would go from strength to strength as the season wore on. This coming despite the disappointment of exiting the Champions League during the qualifying rounds. We would put that to bed in the Europa League however. More on that later. We would win the league title and we would do so during a sensational campaign. We benefited from the fact both FC Porto and Benfica would suffer various little blips, but in truth we were comfortably the best team in the division. We had a squad full of depth and it would pay off as we juggled domestic and continental competitions. We won the title and that was the number one goal I had for the season. On top of that we breezed our way through to the final of the Portuguese Cup again, beating a second division side in the final to defend our trophy with relative ease. The League Cup wasn’t quite as successful as we made it to the semi finals before being beaten on away goals by FC Porto. Finally the Europa League also saw us lift the trophy, my first continental crown in Europe. My fringe players helped us through the League stage before we saw our way through to the final with ease. French side Rennes awaited us and we won it 4-1 to lift the trophy and cap off a truly sensational season. With that my contract with the club runs to its expiration and I will depart Portugal for a new challenge. The board have desperately tried to keep me but it’s time to move on. I’ve picked up both domestic competitions I need in this country and in truth we don’t really stand a chance of winning the Champions League. I’m not sure where I will head to next but there are a host of international tournaments this summer so hopefully a managerial merry go round will occur and I can pick up a big job somewhere. I’d also like the opportunity to return to international manager if given the right situation. I’ve enjoyed Portugal but I’m more excited for the next leg wherever that may be. 25. Sporting Lisbon FC: 2040/41 Review My first full season in Portugal was all about trying to win silverware and it was an exciting time for everybody associated with Sporting Lisbon. We did some really strong transfer activity in the summer, clearing out some deadwood and bringing in some key players. The sale of right back Miguel Perreira to Barcelona for £50,000,000 would fund the bulk of our activity and we actually ended up making profit. Striker Edwin Casillas would be our most expensive signing, joining from Cruz Azul of Mexico in a £22,000,000 deal. We would score 18 league goals across 33 appearances. This season would end up almost identical to last as we would once again finish in 3rd spot behind FC Porto and Benfica. We would finish almost identically behind and with just one less point than we managed last season. In truth we were pretty good, but simply couldn’t close the gap. The table being a fair reflection on the overall campaign. For the second season in a row we would be defeated in the final of the League Cup. We did well to make it that far but unfortunately just weren’t good enough to win it. In truth we are quite simply behind FC Porto and Benfica in terms of quality in Portuguese football. Thankfully against the odds we would win silverware, defeating FC Porto by a single goal to lift the Portuguese Cup trophy. We were good in the final and after taking an early lead rarely looked like we wouldn’t hold on to it. Our toughest encounter actually came in the semi finals against Benfica. After losing out 1-2 at home in the first leg we produced the best performance of my reign in the second. A 4-1 away victory saw us stroll into the final. I’ve been in charge a season and a half and we have made three cup finals and finished 3rd in the league twice. By no means is that disappointing and I feel proud that we managed to win a trophy this time around. It ended a trophy drought stretching back fourteen years and I’m glad I was the one to do it. I’m not actively going to hunt a route out of the club but winning the league could prove difficult. If an opportunity elsewhere at a club built for winning becomes available then I will take the opportunity to try and move on. If not I’m happy to stay though and at least if I do we would be able to focus solely on the league. We’ve also qualified for the Champions League and although we’re unlikely to go far it gives me an opportunity to manage in it for the first time.
