Wow. Thanks for the results. It's awesome! I didn't expect that.

Actually I wait for black friday to buy a laptop with i7/i9 core.

But now I'm not sure, if I should buy a desktop pc with AMD Ryzen, but I'm never spend more than 500 for a cpu. I hope then the new Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 also as fast as ryzen 9.

  2. @Brother Ben

    First thanks for this thread.

It's not just from FM perspective. If it was so, I would have bought.

As you said, it's for me also important the screen quality, material, thermals, fan volume, support etc. If I buy a new laptop, then I think I would also play (perhaps) GTA V and FIFA.

Therefore the gpu must also a good one. But it shouldn't be that loud either. This is the reason why I'm preferring 17" Laptops. But in tests and reviews which I read, there aren't differences between 15" and 17" Laptops regarding to fan volume.

I could spend up to 2000 Euros or a bit more, if the quality is nearly perfect.

But now I think about an xmg pro 17 or xmg neo 15/17.

Good website, I've ordered from them in the past.  Actually still run a system I got from them, it's a bit like Trigger's broom these days but was good at the time.

17 inch should give you better thermals anyway.  Depending on your budget you can actually get larger laptops like that with desktop processors in them

    I haven't decided yet between Ryzen 7 H processor or i7-10875H.

But I couldn't find any info about their laptops. Plastic or aluminum or magnesium alloy regarding to material of their laptops. Or how are the thermal values, temperature, fan volume while playing and while surfing.

Unfortunately, a lot of information is missing.

@Color have you looked at PC Specialist , I think they have a custom build 17" with Ryzen H processors.

I was looking at the i7-10875h so would like to see a benchmark of one of them if anyone has one.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know this website set. There are attractive prices.

But I couldn't find a 17" laptop with Ryzen and RTX 2060/2070. Only with 15" Laptops.

Edit: ah my mistake. There are 17" laptops with Ryzen 7 H processor indeed.

Not yet but I did a little digging and performance wise they look very similar.  With evenly matched systems like that you want to be keeping an eye out for thermals.  See if you can find reviews of the models you want.  FM can be very intensive and it will throttle down to the base clock if it overheats

Thanks. When I'm looking on the benchmark list, than it seems that FM2020 use 8 cores. And the Ryzen Pro 4750u has also 8 real cores.

Meanwhile I'm also looking for laptops with 8 cores Intel, especially i7-10875H.

I still use an old thinkpad T530 with dual core and play FM2020.

Until now I didn't have notice any overheating.

So I think that the ThinkPad T14 with Ryzen 7 Pro 4750u should work similarly regarding to throttling. Am I wrong?

But anyway, I'm looking for a 17" Laptop now, because I don't want use an external monitor.

    Thanks for the results @crghurst

I also considered Ryzen Laptops with H processors. But unfortunately there aren't qualitativ 17" Laptops with Ryzen H processors for me. Perhaps XMG Core 17 or MSI Bravo 17 but the GPU isn't good enough for other games.

It depends on their cooling solutions - under ideal cooling solutions the laptops shouldn't throttle. But it's always a thing that can happen.

The CPU usage doesn't have to be 100% either, and it would be weird if it was - but that's not really relevant at all to any decision.

You want a good base speed - plus a good turbo boost speed - plus a higher TDP for less throttling.

I'm afraid at your price range - it's as good as it gets.

As I said the U processors aren't designed for heavy processing. Up to yourself.

    ok, that seems logical.

My English ist unfortunately not so good. I didn't understand everything.

So what would be your suggestion for a good quality Laptop with good cooling solution and not as loud as a jet?

I'm still thinking about a ThinkPad P53 or perhaps Legion 5.

Both are of course more expensive than 500 Euros. But I would use the laptop also as a desktop replacement.

This is how they are currently ranked for your selection

The 4750U is the lowest of them.

Now that's not the whole story - the TDP is 15 - which means it's an ultra-low power processor (as denoted by the U).

This means that it draws less power (good for battery life). But it also means that the processor will throttle when under heavy load as it is not designed for this purpose. It's designed for slim/ultra light laptops for on the go.

This is not favourable for FM.

The 4800H is quite good on paper - and it has 2.9ghz  up to 4200ghz and 8cores/16 threads.

Hmm I see. But when I'm playing FM2020 the CPU usage is not always 100 %.

And I've read that T14 has two Heatpipes for better cooling.

Do you think that this is not enough? Please don't misunderstand me. I don't want to convince you now, but I don't want to make a bad buy.

And if T14 is not suitable. Which laptop would you suggest.

I thought about ThinkPad P53 with i7-9850H but really expensive, Lenovo Legion 5 with Ryzen 7 4800H or i7-10750H, Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 with i7-10750H.

And will the last 2 mentioned Laptops (Legion and Ideapad) not throttle under heavy load?

Or are there Laptops for 500-600 Euro that is suitable for FM 2020?

  8. Hello, I'm from Germany. I would buy a business laptop, that I want to use also for FM2020.

I could buy ThinkPad T14 AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 4750u for campus price. Is it suitable?

I read on different websites, that Ryzen 7 Pro 4750u is even better or equal than/like i7-8750H/i7-9750H. Is that correct? I doubt, therefore I'm asking here.

If not I'm thinking to buy a Laptop with Ryzen 7 4800H or i7-9850H/i7-10850H.
