Satire and Brexiteering aside, at least we can all finally draw a line under this and move on with the correct rules in place once the game has been patched. We now know the correct rules and we can all make an informed choice as to whether or not we wish to start a save in Britain. Amen to that!
My only hope now is we see better attribute scores on British kids in the future and not lots of inflated ones on cheaper foreign alternatives that temped us to sign from abroad in the first place...

sorted it. there is a tick box saying work permit needed that you deselect.

Anyone know how I can use the editor to make sure he has a WP at the beginning of a new save with Watford? Cant seem to figure it out...

This is unbelievable. SI's Russian roulette rules are causing people to be fearful of starting a new game in England because they don't want their save ruined by their best guess. Yet, we cant even edit it out due to a fault with the editor...
Talk about an absolute mess! Again, why include a hypothetical guess about politics in a football simulation game that's meant to be a form of escapism??
Nobody is arguing with Brexit happening and I for one voted for it. That is not the issue. The issue is the ridiculously stringent worst case game breaking scenarios that keeps being spewed out that quite frankly are unworkable, unforgiving and most certainly not going to happen. No decision has been made yet over this IRL and I sincerely doubt it will be to the detriment of English football.
To be perfectly honest, Id rather that they included Covid19 over this in the game because at least that has already happened and we know where we stand before we start a new save...
All I have witnessed from SI is Anti-Brexit scenarios regarding people playing the game. Not once have I seen somebody say that Brexit benefitted their game and it has worked out better. That for me would suggest they are playing politics and they are trying to influence peoples feelings regarding the political situation by making their game more difficult to play with no found evidence to support it.
It was a nice advertisement gimmick two years ago SI, but lets get rid of it until its gospel.

I brought this up with the beta, but it is still an issue and it seems to have inexplicably mutated since the full release into something equally as irritating. I prefer to have the 'landing screen' on player attributes and set it so in the preferences. When I open a players screen, the 'positions' graphic with the pitch & dots under the players photo, is normal size. During the beta, it shrank to tiny when I hovered over a drop down menu. Now it doesn't do that. It shrinks to tiny when I exit the page and stays that way.
Try loading up a game and check for yourself. The scaling on the attributes screen is an absolute mess on the whole tbh and needs addressing.

I honestly can't understand why SI have decided to flog the Brexit dead horse again this year and attempt to predict various possible outcomes. Especially considering it is less than 2 months to the real decision.
They have deliberately (and rightfully) left out Covid19 to provide us with a bit of escapism from real life. Yet, they have decided to play politics and include a Russian roulette of game changing rules that have yet to be decided. Surely a minor patch could be implemented once the outcome has been determined that kicks in when you start a new game?
After all, why come up with a fake scenario with very obscure rules that quite often spoils a persons game after hours of enjoyment? We all like to start a new game knowing what we are getting into so we can enjoy it. To see your gaming hours ruined by confusing and made-up rules is absolutely soul destroying.
Even if Brexit included harsh restrictions when it comes to signing overseas players, I sincerely doubt it will automatically kick in from midnight 1st January 2021. Its more likely to happen at the end of the season. Covid19 has already damaged domestic clubs beyond measure. To then try to implement yet another set of rules after Brexit, would just be suicide for some clubs. The price of English half decent players is already inflated.
And lets face it, the Premier League and English football provides billions of pounds worth of income to the country and huge entertainment to the world. There is no way on God green Earth that they will accept a restrictive and unprofitable set of rules. Over the years, English football has relied heavily on cheaper foreign players and foreign investment. Entertainment and finance wise. After all, where would we be without Cantona, Fabregas, Di Canio, etc? Because I highly doubt they would be signed with the FM21 saves I have seen...
In FM21 I can edit out Van Dijk injury, I can remove Messi unhappiness, I can give Bournemouth a new stadium, I can even put Harrogate Town in the Premier league via the editor. If I want to get rid of a hypothetical rule then that's not so easy...

I know it has been brought up many times, but I have to say the emojis for physical condition and match sharpness are a backwards step for me. They maybe handy when playing via a mobile phone, but they are obscure and childlike when trying to seriously manage your teams fitness and condition.
I absolutely get that you cant totally breakdown a players fitness by numbers, but why have number ratings at all for attributes if that's the case? How can you say that Virgil Van Dijk has a 17 out of 20 for 'Tackling' yet has a sort of a smiley face for fitness and a thumbs up for match sharpness? it completely contradicts the whole process. You often hear players and coaches say they are 80 or 90% fit so its not unrealistic.
There are 3 specialist job roles now in football manager for players surrounding their fitness and condition. Sports scientists, fitness coaches and physios. You often have numerous of them at a club. so to see a smiley face and a thumbs up when it comes down to a precise science of fitness, sharpness and condition, is just a massive step backwards and hugely unhelpful when managing a team.
Manager- "So, fitness coach. How do you assess/gauge my strikers match sharpness for next weeks crucial cup game?"
Fitness coach- "red box with a black upside down thumb"
Manager- "remind me why I pay your wage again?"
So lets get things in perspective here. We get xG, performance & recruitment analysts to further help us manage our clubs. Fitness, sharpness & condition wise we get emojis...

I've just had this issue as well. Started a brand new game as Hull (it is 27th July 2020- first game day) and went to sign Elie Youan of Nantes and it says he wont qualify for a work permit. He is French! I looked at a similar player of the same nationality and age and there was no such WP warning...
EDIT- i have noticed it is saying it for all players who are currently out on loan even though the are European. I understand that i am unable to sign them straight away, but it seems strange that it is saying that they need WPs

Brexit in FM21

I did say British kids not English players. But hey-ho.
When looking for wonderkids the game does tend to favour Portugal, Brazil & Argentina attributes wise over the British ones IMO. But we digress from the topic and I am just pleased I don't have to scour the editor forum anymore to figure out which advanced rules to tweak to rid me of the Brexit burden...
Now I just keep checking for a Hotfix.
