  1. 5-3-2 certinally does not have to be defensive. Your wingbacks can be very attacking minded and you could have an extra 2 midfielders push forwards. I play a 5-3-2 (sometimes DM, sometimes flat 3, sometimes AMC) and it can be very attacking/controlling/defensive. Super flexable. Did you win or lose those games in which the AI played a 5-3-2?
  2. SI dont have the license for the premier league so no player faces. They do have them for Manchester City as City and SI agreed a deal for FM23. Not sure why Brighton do have faces. Anyway your options are to download a facepack to add them to the game. Google has answers.
  3. Actually I am finding my scouts are way faster at unmasking attributes in FM23 than in FM21 (I didnt play FM22, only buy every few years). In fact prior to getting my hands on FM23 I was seriously considering switching to remove attribute masking for my saves but now I might keep it on.
  4. Go to the games page on your library. Support -> Gameplay or technical issue -> pick any option -> Id like to request a refund. Will only work if you have less than 2 hours playtime
  5. Yes it is our job as we are participating in the beta. If you dont want to participate in the beta dont buy the game until full release. The SI team are probably not happy that such a big issue found its way into the public beta but sadly these things do happen and thats what the beta is for. As long as this is fixed before the full release then I have no problem. Yes the internal QA testers should have picked up on it but they didnt, which is exactly what a public beta is for to help out the QA process. If the bug persits into the full release then by all means sharpen the pitchforks and light the torches but until then lets just let the beta do its thing.
  6. One thing not touched upon here which I think is a huge change to how people will tackle LLM is that scouting package = scouting range. It used to be that even a lower league side in the national league N/S could scout anywhere in the UK if they so wished (some might just be England but still, it’s a whole country). However you could rarely afford the scouting package for the UK. Now most LLM teams will have to only get by with scouting within their division or perhaps 1 division +/-. No more scouting U21 matches, no more scouting Scotland/NI for talent unless you want to pay a fee per assignment.
  7. A quick google search reveals that yes some people have done the work! I found 2 for FM22, one on steam (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2317830932) and one for download (https://fminside.net/downloads/editor-data/351-fm22-german-football-system) Should be really easy to use. If you play FM via steam you can just go to the workshop, hit download and when you go to create a game go the advanced options and make sure the database edit is ticked. For a direct download you need to put the file in the editor folder and it will appear in game, same as the steam one. The person who created the steam one I used thier edit for FM21 and had a really good time with no issues managing in the Regionllia.
  8. Presumably 2 reasons: 1 is any licensing fees required outway the extra sales they would get and 2 is that for any extra leagues SI add they would need more data on the players which in turn means more work for the scouting team. A lot of those lower leagues are multiple divisions with a lot of teams. Serie D is 172 teams, Regiononllia is 93 That said I would really like the Regiononllia from Germany, especially as we have 4 tiers in France, Denmark, England (well 6 tiers for England), Scotland etc. Could make the same argument for Italy as well. However I can completly understand the work involved would be really high which a lot of FM players might not even touch. Lucky for us you can activate the lower leagues via a datbase edit in the pre game editor, which I am sure others will do and post when the full game releases. Thats how I plan on playing the Regiononllia.
  9. Just ran a final test as Norwich who have a decent scouting set up from the get go. I removed all the focuses set by the AI and set 3 tests all with 0 star CA/PA 2 for countries and 1 for a region in Europe. After 1 month there were no hits. Interestingly the AI set up an focus for the Championship which returned 12 hits! The only difference was that they used 'any position from tactic' and used tactic all. So it looks like if the AI set up the focus it works fine but not for the player. On a related note on this save I noticed that some European countries are greyed out on the select, despite having a scouting package of Europe. Most of these are minor nations but Belarus (I think Latvia was as well) was included in this 'greyed out' section which I would consider a problem as they have a league in the base game. When I expanded the scouting package to the world large amounts of countries across the world were greyed out, inclueding nations with leagues in the base game (Singapore/Malaysia). Does this mean that regens cant spawn from those countries at all? Happy to raise this as a seperate bug report if needed. I have uploaded the Norwich save (Scrooge McDoogle - Norwich) for your reference.
  10. Hi. In September the Canadian Premier League announced that they will be handing out the following awards from this season in 2022. both of which are missing from FM. Defender of the Year Players Player of the Year. Link to the tweet: Link to the article on the offical website (this also has the voting process to ensure its correct in game): https://canpl.ca/article/cpl-announces-new-awards-2022-voting-procedures
  11. Sorry for the delay in response. I have uploaded 2 save files. 1 is for the save previously asked (Scroogle McDoogle - Airdrie) and 1 is for Exeter in which has the same issue (Scrooge McDoogle - Unemployed). For Airdrie the most recent email about the focus is on the 25th July 2022. For Exeter the most recent email about the focus is on the 18th July 2022. Sorry, theres a lot of unread emails as I was running the game in holiday mode to get some scouting results for the test. The exeter save has even lower required PA to see if that was causing the issue. I also named the focus 'Test 1' and you can see on the Chief Scouts page for Exter that when you filter by assignment there is 'All', 'Test 1' and Known Talent. Known Talent has 12 reports, Test 1 (the focus) has 0 and 'All' has 56. So the scouting is happening its just not coming through on the focus! I also noticed that on both scouts pages neither have a next match, but these guys must be doing to matches to get reports. The focus also has 17 in progress which should all fit the critera. For Exeter the most recent email about the focus is on the 18th July 2022, for If I get some time ill test this with a larger team with more than 1 or 2 scouts. if you need anything else on this please let me know.
  12. Trying to figure out scouting in this version of FM and running into issues/bugs with the new scouting focuses. I started a random save with a lower league club (Airdire, Scottish League 1) and set up a scouting focus to be as WIDE as possible. Any posistion in a 4-4-2, current ability of 2 star+, any age and anywhere we can scout. After running the game for a few weeks I keep getting emails that my 2 scouts are struggling to find any recommended players and suggests to widen the search parameters. I suspect this is because the scouting packages have now changed so that the package IS the scouting range, meaning that lower league teams with small budgets will have very few players to scout. Is this intended? It seems a bit unrealistic that lower league clubs wouldnt want to scout say... higher league teams U21s/U18s for youngsters who will be let go or willing to come for loans. Right now you cant do that without incurring heavy costs. Interestingly the scouts have found 8 players in progress but on their staff pages they are showing 25/39 players scouted of which most are over 2 star CA. These players should be showing on the focus? Or is the problem that they fit the requirments but are outisde my transfer budget? In the last screenshot you can see that some of the player values are very low. In fact Niel Parry (GK near the bottom) is available for £0, which the agent also confirmed.
  13. The Football Manager Transfer System Brief: The way the current transfer/contract system works in FM is good but isn’t very realistic. Currently if you attempt to buy a player the process looks a little something like this: 1. You go to the players transfer screen and start suggesting a value of transfer (along with the usual trimmings). In game time this usually happens on the same day, meaning that by the time we click continue we (usually) know if the club has accepted our bid. On occasion clubs may go away to deliberate on it. 2. Assuming the bid is accepted contract negotiations are opened with the player. Promises followed by contract demands but once again by the time the negotiations are closed we know if we are going to capture this player or not (assuming no other clubs come in for the player). This means contract negotiations despite lasting many ‘rounds’ of negotiations are pretty much usually finalised within 1 day, followed by a waiting period. We also don’t really know what other clubs have offered contract/expectations wise so cant effectively ‘one up’ them. However, from what comes out of the football media/clubs, this isn’t really accurate to what happens in real life. Transfer sagas can last months (if not a whole seasons). We only have to look at the Mbappe and Haland transfers to see that. In real life negotiations between both clubs and the players agent can really drag on, which is why some transfers don’t get over the line before window closures or just never happen. In FM we don’t really get those transfer sagas, or in the case that a player is being sought after by multiple clubs we don’t really feel heavily involved once our bids/contracts has been made. Here is rough system I would propose to add more realism/immersion to FM. 1. You go to the players transfer screen and create an opening offer to the club which has to be submitted. You can add a deadline to the offer (as is current) but no matter what the selling club will go away and think about it. 2. The selling club come back to us with their proposal. Perhaps they accept right out, perhaps they come back with a counter offer (as they currently do) or perhaps they reject outright. However the key point is this doesn’t happen immediately, it might take a few days or during the final few days of the window a few hours. I believe this is similar to how FM used to handle club negotiations in the early noughties. I would also add that instead of just dealing with the selling club as a whole the negotiations should be done with their DOF/technical director/manager/chairman as is appropriate. This provides the player with greater interaction with ‘big personalities’ from football. Let me attempt to negotiate with Danial Levy, let me build relationships with those people in order to improve/hinder negotiations in the future. 3. Assuming both clubs agree on a fee the contract negotiations can then begin. This time both parties (the buying club and the agent) can take turns with their proposals/offers but again its over a period of days of back and forth negation. This also allows agents to change their demands as their clients situation changes. If PSG has just submitted a bid the agent should use that as leverage on other interested clubs. Even when a contract has been ‘agreed’ the agent can come back and make demands. This has a few benefits: · Firstly FM players cant just have their whole transfer business concluded during the first few days of the window. The benefit of this is that it gives them a reason to push on during the off season because they heavily involved in transfers ALL window not just the start. Usually the times when I stop playing a save is when I have hit the end of the season but there is nothing to do beyond press continue due to me having completed all my transfers in 1 day. This new transfer system keeps me involved all window. · It further spices up deadline day making it unclear if you will get that important transfer over the line in time, perhaps making you cede demands you otherwise wouldn’t. · It makes the FM world feel richer by involving staff from other clubs outside just the clubs manager. However I can see the downsides, FM players will certainly not be happy when they feel a player is over the line only for an agent to come back and quibble something. Perhaps to counter act this FM players should have an easier time ‘unsettling’ players making negotiations with club/agent a little easier. This system could also be extended to new contract negotiations for existing players, once again we can see in the media that contract negotiations can drag on (Salah springs to mind) but in FM terms the Salah contract would be sorted on the same game day. I don’t think it would be nessercary to extend this to staff, usually we only hear about manager negotiations being drawn out and us FM players don’t exactly need to hire managers!
