One thought - I think Mexico and the US have more teams qualifying for the competitions than you have space for. I'm curious if you need to reduce the number of qualifiers (or increase it in your competition) so it lines up. Just an initial thought after a cursory look.

I checked and re-checked the math on this a few times, and I'm 99.9% confident I didn't. If you're math says different though, lmk!

    Upload the file?

Woops! I've attached both versions. NA Champions Cup is the version with the competition that was already in the database. FINAL 3 contains the version I created myself. Generally, the settings in both are the same, aside from which competition specifically is used, so any issues found in one would be in both.

Caribbean League NA Champions Cup.fmf Caribbean League FINAL 3.fmf

  3. I've created a file to add/update the CONCACAF Champions Cup. On my first try I simply used the version that is already in the editor - North American Champions Cup. I did this in Basic Rules editing, and verified the file, however the cup did not show up in a search and was never played.

Thinking that it might be some hardcoded nonsense (North America and especially the USA have been notorious for this), I created a brand new competition in the editor named CONCACAF Champions Cup. However, the same issue happened - the cup doesn't show up in a search nor is it ever played.

How can I fix this issue?

How have you done it? There shouldn't be any need to add the divisions/cups that teams qualify from. You just choose the nation and specify cup winner, top division teams etc.

The Qualified Competition should be the competition they qualify to, not from.

Thanks! This pointed me in the right direction on using that entire screen. However, new problem arose - it says the amount of teams in the Final needs to be divisible by 2.

I have all 24 clubs entering the Group Stage. 16 qualify from there to the knockouts. There are a total of 4 knockout rounds, which by my math would mean 2 reach the final (First KO 16 -> 8, QF 8->4, SF 4->2). What fun quirk of the Editor am I missing this time?

  5. Trying to create a CONCACAF Champions League in Basic Rules editing. Under the Teams section of Qualification System, I've added the divisions and cups that teams can qualify from. However, I am getting the following error message:

    Quote

Qualification system uses competition Mexican First Division but does not contain any rules for it.

I currently have Type, Number, Qualified Competition, and Seeding To Give Teams filled in. What else needs to be filled in to clear this error?

Im editing teams in Canada, and there are a number of teams playing in First Nations dedicated to those nations

I would really like to add the requirement that any player signed by these teams must have the relevant First Nations nationality

I know Canada gets so little love it doesnt even get counted as a "current nation", and its national cup is American, but this is similar to how it works in Spain, with Atletico Bilbao not being able to sign non-Basque players, so we know its possible in game, just not supported in the editor

In the American DB I released and am working on for 22, I added Indigenous nationalities that work similarly to Basque nationality, but I haven't gotten to the point where I add the Club Vision - still working on getting names to show up correctly.

Wolf helped me set up those nationalities btw - lmk if you need help with that I'll get you the link to the thread.

The unique IDs have changed for the created teams  . I had to change my created team IDs to the new ones fir all my new badges and kits I created

Another renumbering like between FM20 and 21?

Not quite the problem, although I appreciate the heads up as I hadn't picked up on that. Rather, when I open the file in the Editor all of the team colors, kit colors, etc. all appear correctly. But when I open the file in the game, The kits and badges revert to black and white, while the team colors show correctly.

I can post screenshots when I'm back on my desktop.

  8. I'm trying to upcycle my advanced rules American Tiers database from 21 to 22. While the transition has largely been seamless, I can not figure out this aesthetic issue. In the editor, the kits for my teams are all displaying properly, with correct colors. But when I load up the database in-game, the kits appear in all black, and their game generated badges appear in black and white.

Is this a known issue? Are their steps in converting an advanced rules force verified database from 21 to 22 I may have missed?

    A - That's weird

B - How'd you manage to figure that out and how many hours did it take?!?!?!

C - I'm removing his contract with Pre-Game Editor just to be safe, and also...just because!

Just process of elimination. Not as long as it sounds - once we narrowed down to Europe, the time to load each DB to the point where you save was pretty short. All we had to do was save, quit to start, and try to reload to see if it worked.

  10. For anyone following this, we were able to narrow down that the issue was a single staff member: Frank Dauwen on Beerschot. Once his contract was removed, it resolved the issue.

If anyone's got any thoughts or info about why that may have happened, that'd be nice. Otherwise, good talk everyone

  11. We've done some further testing with this, and it appears that it may be an issue with certain players.

After creating saves with different combinations of Belgian leagues and players added, it seems whenever players are added specifically from the following teams the save file becomes corrupted:
    Mechelen
    Genk
    Anderlecht
    Zulte Waregem
    Excel Mouscron
    Kortrijk
    Sint-Truiden
    Eupen
    Cercle Brugge
    Oostende
    Waasland-Beveren

My testers and I are going to continue trying to figure this out, but if anyone knows what could be causing this please feel free to let me know!

  12. Nearly finished an American pro/rel database, and one of my testers found their save files were getting corrupted when loading a bunch of leagues and nationalities. I was able to narrow this down to find out that if you start a save with extra players from Belgium, or the Belgian leagues, that you can not load the save after you quit and try to open the save.

I haven't edited a single thing that has to do with Belgium. Can someone take a look at my XML or poke around otherwise and help me figure out why this is happening?

Here is the link to download: https://gofile.io/d/LhBNch

Make sure you load the American leagues all the way to the lowest level (USASA Lower Leagues).

I tried to test this out with my own created nation using CIS as the original as well. Made 1,024 non-players named TESTING TESTING, and didn't see any of those come out. I'm gonna try it now with them on the Player person type and will lyk.

Follow up here: Unsure if it was the fact that I shut down and restarted my computer, or the new update, or what, but suddenly the added names have appeared! I only needed over 1,000 for them to show up.

Something I noticed - if you're using an extinct nation to create a new one, some will need more names added than others. I don't have exact specifics on this at the moment, as I'm pushing to finish the DB I'm working on.

Hi, so I gave created a nation for my local county using CIS as a base nation. There are around 140 players in the database from this nation but the newgen names only seem to come from a small pool. Would you suggest adding more players?

If you add them to a nation, yes. That works.

Not sure if it works if you add them to a specific region. The reason I noted a local region dependency was because of certain last names only popping up in certain city of births which were all located in the same local region. The question is whether that link is already in the database or we can add it ourselves. Not sure yet about that. You could try and add the same last name several times for a specific region with different first names and see if it only turns up in cities from that specific region. That would be the way I would go.

So I gave this a shot, and added a bunch of 80 year old officials to a created nation/local region. In this specific case, it was an extinct nation that I edited, and then a local region that I edited and placed in that created nation. I was unable to get any of those names to generate so far, although I may not have hit any sort of tipping point in terms of the number of added people.

Any thoughts on how to get these regen names to properly align with their new nations? Have you experimented in a bigger way than I have on this at all?

I have done a bit of editing myself. Two things I noted. Names are based on two things: the names of the players in the database. This is the most important sources. Secondly, it is determined by the local region.

An experiment where I moved every local region to the Netherlands (except the Dutch ones which I moved to Nepal), showed that the names of the players om in the database is used, except when there is a small numbers (150 seems to be the turning point) in the database. Then the game starts using the name list belonging to the local regions.

After that I deleted all players and checked again. What you see now is that playernames are based on a limited list of names, probably a nation namelist which is somewhere in the database. For nations where there is no namelist, the namelist of the local region is used. Funny enough, when the country does NOT have any local region there is a different effect where local names are used, probably based on continent or region (this is the region between continent and nation which we can't edit). This can be seen for nations like American Samoa for instance.

Language does not seem to have an effect, except for extinct nations with no apparent history, like East Germany, CIS, Ireland pre-1922. Note that they don't have a language in the database, so they might be 'clean slate' nations.

If I'm reading this right, then what you're saying is if we add people to the database and attach them to a nation and/or local region, then you can affect the types of names that show up?
